Several years ago, I needed a cab ride. My car needed major mechanical work, so I was dropping it off at the mechanic. I needed a ride back to my house, and presumably I'd need a ride back to the mechanic in a day or two when the repairs were finished. So, as I limped my car to the mechanic and parked it there, I called Yellow Cab to call for a ride home. I figured it would be simple, call cab company, cab is sent out, get ride home. Well, the dispatcher I got was rather surly, and made it clear they don't like people just calling to get a ride. . .they very much want you to schedule your cab rides a day or two in advance. They made it clear they didn't have any cabs available right now, but they said they could get one out to me in an hour and a half. Well, I didn't have anywhere else to be, so I waited around in the sketchy part of town the mechanic was in waiting on my cab ride. Two and a half hours later (and me calling after an hour and a half and basically being told to shut up by the dispatcher and they'd get a cab out to me eventually), the cab shows up. The cab itself was a serviceable, reasonably clean yellow minivan. The rate was exorbitant. I am used to taking a cab when I travel in a big city, so I know what to expect if I'm taking a cab in, say, Washington D.C. or in New York. They managed to put New York cab fares to shame with how much they charged. The driver wasn't very personable or friendly, more like a truck driver hauling his cargo (me) from place to place. When he dropped me off at my home, I started calling around to my friends to find someone who could take me to my mechanic in a couple of days, because there was no way I was going to use Yellow Cab again unless I was truly desperate. I'll give them two stars instead of one because they actually sent out a cab when I called, and that cab took me from Point A to Point B as requested, and the cab itself wasn't unsafe or dirty. . .but there were an awful lot of issues with the entire experience that made me realize I couldn't give them more than 2 stars. read more

Bad bad. They NO SHOWED my scheduled appointment at 6:15 in the am to take me (and a child) to the airport. When I tried to call to see if they were coming, (at 6:20 by this time) I got a recorder saying "they were having high volume" & the voice mail was full. While I don't often have need for a cab in Lexington, I needed a ride home from BlueGrass airport last week. I waved over a cab, and the driver responded quickly, grabbed my bag and put it in the trunk. The driver was a very amiable fellow from Albania, who had moved here from Vegas less than a year ago. We had a pleasant, interesting conversation. How often does that happen? Unfortunately, I didn't focus on his name, but he's the kind of driver you hope to get in cab roulette. read more

Worst cab in Lexington, reckless drivers, and never show up on time, no insurance, dirty cars.

Ordered a cab on 1-4-20, 7:25am for a 8:00am pick up to go to the airport, got a call from the driver at 8:05am saying will be arriving in 10 -15 minutes. 20 minutes went by, called the cab company and was notified the driver had cancelled the pick-up and never notified us of the cancellation. Very bad service, the dispatcher apologized but we had to urgently rush to get another ride to the airport. So unreliable... Will never use this cab company again. read more

I called for a cab, after waiting 30 minutes I called back the man who answered the phone said it would be 15 more minutes. After a further 30 minutes I called back and got no answer. My call went to a full voicemail box. Absolutely terrible! read more

In arranging transportation for a handicapped family member, I called several days before I actually needed to be picked up. Day of taxi ride, called just to make sure they were on their way. On board but not assigned ten minutes before pick up time. Pick up time came & went, called again, on their way. 15 more minutes, called again, van trouble. 15 more minutes, on its way. Driver finally called, where are you located after I gave them address 4 times!! We ended up missing our event due to their lack of any customer service, if that's what it could be called. Will NEVER use these people again. Feel very sorry for disabled people of Lexington who need timely, reliable transportation. read more

Yellow cab should not be in business!! They had my grandmother waiting for two hours to get picked up. I called to see what was going on they said that the driver had canceled her ride and that they was going to send him back out and he will be there to get her in 15 minutes. A hour later the cab driver still isn't here and the dispatch isn't answering the phone now. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS!! I'm very unhappy read more

They were a no show for my 5:15 am trip to the Airport. I called them at 5:30 and was transferred to a voice mailbox that was full. Had to use my own car and wound up paying over $100 in parking fees at the airport. read more

Booked a pick up for a 4 30 am airport run on August 6. They confirmed by text the night before. 4 40 no cab. Called. They said they didn't have a cab and couldn't pick me up. They acknowledged having the reservation. Canceled. Left me in quite a jam. I called Uber. Uber driver will be here in 7 minutes. Thought it would be easier to book the night before. Very let down. Recently I had a very unpleasant experience with a driver for Yellow Cab. I had an appointment at 10:00 and he got there at 10:00. He arrived eating and a lot of his burger was on his shirt. His car was on the verge of being "dangerous" with snack bags, hamburger wrappers and soft drink bottles all over the back floor. One seat had been removed, the one remaining seat was so filthy I almost canceled my ride but I had to get to my appointment, even though I was late. He had the windows open and after having had eye surgery the wind was stinging and drying my eyes. I asked him if he minded shutting the window and he said he'd have to pull over to shut it. When he shut the window he had to use both hands to push the window up. I'd decided not to call for another Cab ride after my experience but had to call again due to an appointment. I was picked up by an adorable young couple and there was no comparison to the previous driver. They picked me up on time and I got to my appointment well before the time. I have had the pleasure of riding with them many times when I've needed a ride. Yes it was my lucky day when I had the pleasure of meeting AMANDA and CODY. Maybe you will have the pleasure of this amazing young couple pick you up. If you do, you probably will give a 5 star review as I did. I got left outside, in a wheelchair, at night for over 2 hours. It was a busy evening and I would have totally understood if the dispatcher told me from the beginning that they did not have a free cab, but to tell me "if the cab is not there in 10-15 minutes call us" THEN, after I go outside of a locked facility, tell me that their are no cabs and have no idea when one will be free... that is not good business. A nurse from the facility took pity on me. Never used this business again for the rest of my trip, neither will the medical staff who witnessed my wait. read more

First of all I am illegally blind. I don't use a cab that much I take the bus a lot of the time. yesterday 3/3/2019 I needed a cab from Kroger I called about 1:20 PM. The person said it would be about 20 to 25 mints I called back at about 2:00 PM The person said he was working on it. Then I called back at about 2:30 The same person said I was next in line. Then I called back at about 3:00 PM the same person said all of his drover had just left but there was some more coming in to work 10 to 15 mints. no one showed up so I called back at about 3:20 PM. The person said one was coming slowly because of bad roads and he would call me back when it was close he never called in about 30 more mints I could not even get anyone to answer the phone. I ended up not even getting a cab. I offered someone $20 to take me home that was coming out of the store they did and after hearing about what I went throw they would not take the money I could not think them enough for their help. read more

Day one, great service, showed up in 20 minutes, cost $8 to go 1.5 miles. Day two, terrible service, quoted 15 - 30 minutes--but an hour and a half later when I called back he told me he had to send two drivers out of town right before I called and only had one driver left and it would take at least another 30 minutes to get to me. "Then you should have told me that when I called! Not when I called back to complain!" Be honest with people and you will get repeat service. Deceive them and you lose customers. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. Warning to all: do not contact yellow cab to arrange transportation to the airport or to an important appointment. Despite my calling 5 days out, verifying the day before, and calling again at the time of pick up, yellow cab could not provide a driver even though they had assured me they had 24 hour service. They are unreliable, untrustworthy, and unrepentant when they cannot deliver on their commitments. read more

Unreliable service! They said it would be 20 minutes until pickup, initially. We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes and they were still a no show. When we called they said no driver had picked up the call. They told us that drivers get to pick and choose what calls to take. That is highly unprofessional and unethical! When you call, the people who answer are either rude or simply don't care about the customer nor customer service. Definitely not a reliable company nor worth even 1 star in this review. read more

While this post is not about my experience using their taxi service it is about one of their drivers. Last week I was driving down nicholasville road when a taxi tried to get in front of me and almost hit me. I served to avoid from getting hit. The taxi then proceeded to continuously honk at me coming down nicholasville road. I got over to let him pass me. Later down the road I got over to pass him and he rolls down his window and gives me the ugliest look. I pull up to a red light and then next thing I know the driver is behind me getting out of his vehicle and walking up to my window. He then proceeded to cuss me out and tell me to "back the fuck up off of me you dumb bitch." So I call the taxi company with the number provided on his vehicle and ask for a manager and of course there isn't one there. I gave all the information to the person i spoke to including a description of the driver and car as well as the license plate. He also took my name and number and told me the manager would get back with me to let me know how the situation was handled. I've never heard anything back. It is extremely unprofessional. The fact that they have people like this driving for them would make me worry for my safety if I ever needed their service. read more

I called 2 days ahead for a cab to take me to an ambulatory surgery center for a procedure. Taxi supposed to pick me up at 6am and no show. I called back and woman who answered was rude and hung up on me. NEVER use this cab company! I had to drive myself to get there on time. VERY upsetting. read more

I would say "don't use Yellow Cab," but Yellow Cab went out of business a while back. It no longer exists. When you call them, you get the remaining "drivers" (or so they claim) who kept the number after Yellow Cab folded. I needed a cab at 3:00 AM so I scheduled it the day before. The driver showed up 40 minutes early. When I went out, I noticed immediately that it wasn't a cab; it was a passenger vehicle with no meter or markings and the "driver" had brought along a friend he told me he was taking to work after I got dropped off. Not only that, but they don't take credit cards like Yellow Cab used to (which they didn't tell me until we were halfway to my destination) so I had to have them take me by an ATM at 3:00 AM. Not to mention having two strangers in what clearly wasn't a cab show up at that time of night was a little alarming; I wasn't sure if I was about to get robbed or what. I would avoid them or just use Lyft since that's basically what they're trying to do without any sort of business license or probably insurance (if you get hurt in their vehicle). I took a Yellow Cab from the Bluegrass airport. It seemed fine first, it was an old car ("classic car"?) but smelt from gas fumes. The driver made jokes during the ride, but laughed himself about most of his sarcasm. Also made nasty remarks about my country of origin, an absolute no-go. He told me that he would not want me to pay by credit card... When arriving, he did not even take the bags out of the trunk. I have never met a driver that unfriendly and unprofessional! read more

Got no text confirmation so I wasn't sure if it had been booked, but I decided I would wait till 4:30 and if nobody showed up I would just call. Luckily the next morning my driver called five minutes early, helped me with my luggage, was polite and courteous and had a clean cab. Great experience!
