Had to ride twice today after years of using Uber, but they got way to pricey. I called three hours in advance for a cab at 11:30 am, but a driver called me at 10:33 am! I told him that I needed a cab for 11:30 and he just said OK and hung up. I then called the same cabbie back from caller ID and asked where he was; he said he'd call dispatch. I could not wait so I called dispatch myself. Cab came, got to destination, he didn't have a card machine. Sorry but I don't carry cash! On the return trip I called, and told dispatch I needed a cab that takes credit cards. I got in, and we traveled a block or so when I asked if he indeed took cards. Nope! He started to pull over and asked me if I needed a cash machine - NO, I am not incurring an ATM charge because of your not taking cards. I think they are all just not recording their fares for tax avoidance purposes but hey I got two free rides lmao. Not. My. Problem. read more

I've used these folks a few times since we don't want to deal with parking a car at a downtown hotel for $20+ a day. For $10 each way, it works out a whole lot cheaper. It started well. I'd call for a cab and by the time I got to the door, there they were. And then it slowly deteriorated. The last two times, I would call and they would be at least 25 minutes. Today, I finally gave up. When I called them to ask where my taxi was, he guy said he'd be there in a couple of minutes. TEN minutes later, he was still not there. I called another cab company. That guy showed up faster than the Yellow guys. I think we're done with Yellow. read more

I've come to accept that Milwaukee cabs are expensive, are slow, and aren't that great. I use Yellow Cab almost exclusively cause that's the only number in my cell phone. They show up and take me from here to there. I've tried the other companies a few times, but given up cause it too hard or too annoying to get through to the operator. Yellow Cab dispatcher are pretty efficient. Once time I had a really bad driver (smoking, no seatbelt, rude, clueless about the area) and I complained to the City; they followed up. If you have a really bad driver or a driver does something inappropriate, be sure to get the cab number/driver name/take some notes and let someone know. Don't call yellow cab - call someone like your alderman. It's probably not just you that the driver is/has mistreated. For the most part they are reliably ok. read more

My experience was disappointing. Cab requested at midnight for 6am Monday didn't arrive. There was no call to tell me that cab was delayed. When I called in 10 min. after cab was supposed to show up, outgoing message said my call would be answered in 2 minutes, it took far longer. When I reached a dispatcher, she told me that cabs couldn't be assured in bad weather [by Milwaukee standards, weather wasn't that bad]. Night dispatcher hadn't said anything about a possible problem when I made the reservation, although I think it was already snowing. The inconvenience of not having a cab when I really needed it was compounded by fact that company didn't say up-front that cab arrival & phone wait time might be higher than expected. Also, a friend had told me uber & lyft could be late during rush hour but cabs were reliable (granted, yellow cab wasn't responsible that expectation). On an overnight we decided to taxi it around town for the evening. Service was quick, responsive, affordable and convenient. If you are starting from downtown, you can flag a cab. I would recommend calling for a cab only if you are unable to flag one down, or if you are are starting or stopping outside of downtown. read more

ive read a few reviews here for insight, i see the ongoing theme is "rude behavior ". My review will touch on that also. First off, i see most of these cab drivers have a taxi contract of at least $20,000 that they have to pay off while driving cabs in this country (its a form of servitude). Many are coming from east africa w/ Islamic views on how to treat women (like they are less then zero), considering that females are their biggest customer base these idiots are literally biting the hand that feeds them. Ive talked to many women that say the treatment from these ppl is medieval. They have no impulse control & will shout and scream belligerently at the drop of a hat, making the person concerned for their safety. If not for the woman base the cabby would be as obsolete as the pet rock. Now who is really the servant and who is really the master here?? we appreciate the transportation. Although when calling in and asking a question as to why a cab didn't come? I get an answer in a very rude way instead of being polite and saying "I do apologize. Due to weather, a driver may have not been able to start their vehicle. In cases like this, we suggest to give us a call to get a status on your driver." My resident missed the appointment. It would be very helpful if they would of called and mentioned they will not be able to fulfill their appointment. I couldn't believe what I was hearing that I asked for a supervisor. she said I am the supervisor. Then I asked for her manager or higher up she laughed and said there is no higher up for dispatcher. I have used this service frequently in the last 30 years, but I might not anymore after today. I had finished my grocery shopping and felt it was too much to take on the bus. So at 5:53 I called for a cab. Gave them my info of where I was and waited. 15 minutes later I call and an older woman was the dispatcher who answered. A voice I recognized after 30 years of business, she was really rude when I asked if my cab was still coming, even hung up on me as I was talking. 15 mines later I called again, she hung up even before I had the chance to answer, so I called her back and she was again very rude. I've waited 30 minutes and asked if it was even sent out, she said it was, I asked how much longer do I have to wait and she didn't know. I hung up, pissed at her lack of a response. Gathered my groceries and walked a block to the bus stop. I kept an eye on where I waited in case the cab arrived, but it didn't. I got on the bus at 6:53 an hour after I called and no cab showed. read more

I use yellow cab frequently, and the cab drivers/ service is inconsistent. Sometimes I have wonderful drivers, but twice now I have had dishonest drivers whose cabs reek of stank weed. My last experience my toll came to $12.50. I wanted to pay with my card. When he asked me what the tip was I said nothing. (I'm a generous tipper-but if you don't deserve it, you aren't getting it). He then canceled my tab and ran $13.50 on my card as a tip. I immediately called yellow cab about my bad service, they did nothing but told me to write a review on their website. I have had 2 bad experiences in Yellow Cab taxis in Milwaukee. The first was with a driver named Hasan. He was friendly enough at first, but didn't stay that way once we got to my destination. I didn't realize until then that I didn't have cash on me so i would have to use my card. The fare was only a bit more than $5, but he said that he could not take a card for less than $10. It is against the policies of most if not all credit card processing companies, and possibly the law, for merchants to have a minimum amount for credit card purchases. After a few minutes of arguing and a fair amount of him swearing at me, I finally giving in to being charged nearly twice my fare, he decided to call 911 about my potentially not paying. Of course I had already paid. He was in fact running the card as he called. The Police showed up as I was climbing my front porch and demanded that I come back down. In addition to getting yelled and sworn at by the driver, I got demeaned by the cops too. Then, the officer found out I had already paid, dismissed me and turned his ire on the driver who was not displaying his license in the vehicle. The next time I took Yellow, I made certain that I had cash on me before hopping in the cab. the driver was nice, but charged me an extra dollar for my groceries which went in the trunk (he did not help me put them in or take them out). read more

I have hardly used cabs in my life and this was the first time that I ever called a cab for myself. It was a Friday night at 1:44am and they told me they would send a car as soon as possible. An hour later, I called to check if a car was still coming and the dispatcher said "I will try to speed it up, one is still coming." Another hour later, still no car. I called from my friends phone at this point and I asked why my cab never came. The dispatcher told me "They were busy picking up people on the street." At last I got a cab and was home by 4am. I understand that a Friday night is busy, but PLEASE DO NOT TAKE CALLS if you cannot pick them up. I am horribly disappointed by the experience. They were not sympathetic to me. They driver told me I should have come outside and found a cab, to which I told him I called a cab because I (a young 20 something girl) did not want to be outside alone late at night. Since our experience with the bus was less than stellar, we opted to take a cab from the Lakefront Brewery to Sprecher on our big day of beer tours. We asked for the number of a cab company, and figuring one would be the same as the other, chose Yellow Cab of the two options. It took about 10 minutes for the cab to arrive. Okay. But the driver had no clue where we wanted to go. Luckily I had printed out directions, so he followed my map and got us there in the nick of time. The ride, which was about 10 minutes, cost nearly $20. Yikes! Then we called back to get a ride from Sprecher back down to the Third Ward, waited about 30 minutes and called again. We were told my dispatch our request had been logged, but they were very busy and it would probably still be quite a while before we got a cab. Quite a while, on top of 30 minutes? Milwaukee, your public transportation kind of blows. Your citizens, however are super nice. A man leaving the brewery with a case full of beer was nice enough to offer us a lift! read more

However, it must have been fate or something because George picked me up for a ride and he was very friendly gave me his number and we had a cab driver for my whole trip to Milwaukee. It was late night and I called him he got his brother no meter gave him cash and it was all good. The good part is the cab was very fast to arrive. The bad part was the ripping off... I told the cabbie right away that I will pay with a credit card to which he had nothing to say but ok. Only upon arriving to the destination he makes an announcement that there's $10 Min on credit card charges while my total was $6.50, leaving me no choice but to pay extra. GFU yellow cab Milwaukee. When we reached our end destination, I gave my credit card to cabbie and he said its cash only. I had no cash at the moment and no debit card either. MR. While on a overnight trip to Milwaukee we decided to cab it so we could enjoy our evening of eating & drinking. Simple. Cab was outside our hotel (Hyatt Regency) and took us to the Steak house. Afterward we called for a cab to take us from the restaurant to the Jazz Estate (we didn't stay) and then back to our hotel. Fast, friendly and decent rates. No problems here. read more

The cabbies and the receptionists are rude at best and the cabs are mostly but not always dirty. I missed the bus and needed to administer an 8am Midterm or when I was taking a fly lady out to dinner and it started raining. Be sure you have an address for pick-up when you call. $10 minimum credit card (which can include tip), helpful dispatch, and friendly drivers. They are a contact in my phone! After years of good service dishonest drivers seem to have become the norm. I've been gouged in strikingly similar ways by two different Yellow drivers. Months ago I called for a ride and when the driver arrived he told it would cost 11 or 12 dollars. I take that trip regularly and knew the fare to be $6. The driver said he had come from the airport to get me and $6 wouldn't cover his gas so I had to pay "at least $10". I was stuck so he got his 10 bucks, I wrote a complaint to Yellow Cab and resolved to never use them again. Tonight I found myself at the same corner and after waiting an hour for a different cab company I broke down and called Yellow Cab figuring I couldn't possibly get the same crooked driver. Different driver, same scam. This one called to tell me his was on his way and I would have to pay 10 or 11 dollars. Trapped again, I agreed. This time as we were driving the cabbie explained that he was charging so much because he was coming from the Greyhound station. During the ride his eyes were on his phone watching a movie more often than they were on the icy road. Corrupt and careless is something I want no part of and this time I can guarantee that Yellow Cab will never get another cent from me. read more

First I was told; "he's on the way", waited, called again, was told "he's right around the corner", waited, called back & was told "he has a flat tire"! REALLY?!!! We accidentally left a phone in our cab. We called the company less than 2 mins after drop off, got disconnected twice and when we finally got through the help desk or dispatcher refused to radio out to the cabs. We were able to track it down and the driver was awesome but the dispatch people were rude and terrible. read more

We were doing 5mph over the limit on our scooter, the cab tailgated us, then passed us with about 2ft of clearance while the driver and passenger both yelled at us and flipped us off. what an awful company, a reason Uber and Lyft are dominating the market. I had a terrible experience with Yellow Cab. I got in a Yellow Cab on Water Street to go back home to the UWM area later at night. When we pulled up to my apartment, I tried to use my debit card and the driver told me he did not take cards (which they do, since I had used it in the Yellow Cab on the way to Water Street). He then proceeded to drive me to an ATM about a mile away from my apartment. I did not ask him or authorize him to do this.After I was forced to take cash out at a foreign ATM that I was charged fees at, he then told me that he would charge me again to take me back to my apartment, so I walked home the mile, in the snow.
