Since 7 is one too many for your typical Uber or Lyft, I widened my search for transportation to and from the theme parks for our 10-day stay. For a well-dressed chauffer, always on time if not ahead of it, bringing you around in a comfortable luxury SUV, Marty's rates were reasonable. No regrets in taking a chance and trying him out. Will gladly do so again on our next Orlando trip. My only regret though was not having a group photo with him as we were too excited to hit the parks at opening each morning and too tired when we got home after closing them each day. Marty was that patient and flexible with our long and crazy hours. Not to mention our pushing through despite the hurricane bearing down on us. I have been trying to get this resolved for almost 20 days, but customer support has been completely unhelpful. No one has taken responsibility or provided a real solution. This was clearly an error on Uber's system, but I am the one paying the price. It is unacceptable to keep a customer's money because of your own mistake. I expected much better service and accountability from a company like Uber.

We did have the driver waiting for almost 30 minutes before departure, so a waiting fee was absolutely fair and expected. However, instead of using a standard meter or charging a reasonable wait rate, he charged a completely arbitrary, forced flat rate of $64 total ($54 for a short 9-mile airport ride plus $10 for waiting). He didn't even provide any receipt. While the wait was our fault, charging illegal, unmetered rates to passengers is not the way to handle it. Use an official city cab or standard rideshare instead to ensure transparent pricing.

I rate and tip well on the uber app. I feel for the drivers trying to earn a living. Under what I see as a flawed and greedy corporate business model. It's hard to contact Uber when something comes up. The web site is poorly designed. Receipts aren't always mailed out or updates when you tip late. It seems their main aim is to sell you side services. Uber seems to have cynically exploited advancing the taxi profession. Now they're the problem. My guess is they're "driven" by margin compression above all else. I wish there were alternatives.

I was able to get a ride within a minute and it told me the driver, type of vehicle, and license information. It also showed me his star rating. It is also very convenient to see the location and notification updates when the driver is nearby. My driver had over a 4.9 rating (as I have too), and picked me up in his nice car. His driving was very safe and the directions given by Uber to the airport was accurate. I was able to get to the airport on time and tipping was as easy as entering an amount in the application. I find Uber much cheaper and safer than taxis. Uber matches us with a driver to our ratings, and we can lose our privileges if they get low. Since our credit cards are linked, we don't have to worry about carrying cash. Most cars are clean and comfortable, but some can be old. I am glad that Uber has a safety feature where either the driver or passenger can hit a panic button on the app that immediately calls the station and takes recording (I think) if anything happens. The only issue I have is that sometimes the maps can give inaccurate directions, or a ride get cancelled at the last minute. Uber is much better than getting a taxi, and the most convenient application for me in ride sharing. I use it many other countries like Mexico and Colombia. I checked and was directed to stand in one of the many roped off lines based on my hotel/resort destination. I arrived at 5:55pm and the first person in my line. At 6:07pm a staff member announced that there were several busses dropping of people on the other side of the airport and it would be about 20 minutes. One of these buses was for our line of people waiting. There was one large tour type bus outside and the line adjacent to me was the line for that bus. I noticed while I stood there for 30 minutes that bus was there for 30 of those 30 minutes before it took off. By 6:30pm no buses had arrived and there were only 4 people behind me and after watching the last bus sit and wait for people to arrive and fill up. I decided I was done waiting and I left. Used Mears to save money but in my opinion it was not worth it. I had been travelling all day and just wanted to get to my hotel so I ordered ride-share who picked me up in 5 minutes (once I found the ride-share area at the airport) and was at my hotel in about 20 minutes.
