Uber across the country continues to stagnate and even degrade as a business. Cars are late, dirtier, & sone drivers are suspect. Prices are not reasonable during so called surges. I rate and tip well on the uber app. I feel for the drivers trying to earn a living. Under what I see as a flawed and greedy corporate business model. It's hard to contact Uber when something comes up. The web site is poorly designed. Receipts aren't always mailed out or updates when you tip late. It seems their main aim is to sell you side services. Uber seems to have cynically exploited advancing the taxi profession. Now they're the problem. My guess is they're "driven" by margin compression above all else. I wish there were alternatives. read more

Longtime, regular user of Uber. Tried to book a ride last night and got notice that my account was 'deactivated'. Used their contact form and asked what it was about. I was in Brooksville Fl requesting a ride home which is 18 miles from my location. It kept coming back they didn't have a driver to try back. 8 times I tried and ended up calling a family member to come and pick me up. I received a fraud alert on my cc on file and apparently they charge the card for every request before they find you a ride. 8 times!!! Now I have to wait for days for the money to be reimbursed and never even got a ride. I will never recommend uber to anyone read more

UBERS new update sucks, it will auto fill an address such as an airport from a cruise port and will not allow the driver change the destination. This caused us to be forced to drive far out of our way and way and added 80.00 to a 140.00 trip costing us 212.00 no customer support only AI. i'm deleting my Uber account. My app showed the correct address and a trip charge of 140.00 The drivers app displayed different. This was not the drivers fault. Something similar happened in the next ride once again causing us to have to take a second trip. UBER now sucks due to their new app and is no longer a value service all at the customers expense. I use Uber a bit when I travel on vacation. I called an Uber using the application to go to the airport. I was able to get a ride within a minute and it told me the driver, type of vehicle, and license information. It also showed me his star rating. It is also very convenient to see the location and notification updates when the driver is nearby. My driver had over a 4.9 rating (as I have too), and picked me up in his nice car. His driving was very safe and the directions given by Uber to the airport was accurate. I was able to get to the airport on time and tipping was as easy as entering an amount in the application. I find Uber much cheaper and safer than taxis. Uber matches us with a driver to our ratings, and we can lose our privileges if they get low. Since our credit cards are linked, we don't have to worry about carrying cash. Most cars are clean and comfortable, but some can be old. I am glad that Uber has a safety feature where either the driver or passenger can hit a panic button on the app that immediately calls the station and takes recording (I think) if anything happens. The only issue I have is that sometimes the maps can give inaccurate directions, or a ride get cancelled at the last minute. Uber is much better than getting a taxi, and the most convenient application for me in ride sharing. I use it many other countries like Mexico and Colombia. Over 5 years ago I had decent experiences with uber. But not too long ago I flew across the country, and mistakenly chose to uber long distances instead of renting a car. One uber was still a couple minutes away, and canceled the ride saying he "waited too long", while I was already right there. So he was payed and I was charged, even though he never actually came near my pickup spot. On this same trip, I took an uber that asked me question after question to figure out if I was his ideal type, and then wouldn't stop talking about himself to the point that he MISSED the turn off the highway. Then he had to drive several extra miles just to get back when we had only been a few minutes away. So not only did he A. Make me very uncomfortable, B. Waste my time, but also C. Charged me over $10-20 extra because he made a mistake? After that experience I lost all respect for Uber, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I have had some drivers that are kind, respectful, and pay attention to the job at hand, but you don't quite get to pick, especially if there's not many cars available. I've had other mixed experiences, but the biggest problem is that Uber will not help you if you have a problem. As far as I have ever experienced they will not fix issues, and their lack of action demonstrates that they don't care much about the customers or the drivers. Use at your own discretion. read more

We rode Uber from our hotel, the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando, to dinner at Jiko - The Cooking Place at Jambo House at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World Resort. Our driver, Amilcar (4.97-star average rating), was great. He showed up on time and got us to Jambo House safely and efficiently. I gave him five stars. I called an UberX. The ride was 14.32 miles and 24 minutes. The trip fare was $21.95, booking fee was $4.99, and I tipped $5.38 (20%) for a total of $32.32. This was in January 2025. As I wrote in my Yelp review for Lyft in Orlando, we mostly used Lyft to get around town because we earned Delta SkyMiles by riding Lyft and Lyft was always cheaper than Uber (UberX) for the same quality of ride. That said, Delta is ending their partnership with Lyft (last day to earn SkyMiles with Lyft is April 7, 2025) and starting a new partnership with Uber in spring 2025 (date to be determined). For this ride, we chose to use Uber because of a $15 monthly credit that we receive in Uber Cash, which can be spent on Uber rides and Uber Eats, as a benefit of the American Express Platinum Card. In the emailed receipt for this ride, I noticed the following: "In October 2024 in Florida, roughly 21% of customers' fares went toward covering government-mandated commercial insurance for rideshare/TNC (transportation network company) trips. Take action to bring down costs." I clicked on the "Take action" link and read: "Nationally, Uber's insurance costs for rides have gone up by roughly 50% per trip over the past 3 years. At the root of the problem is personal-injury lawyers targeting the rideshare industry for unreasonably large payouts that benefit them, attracted by the arbitrarily high insurance requirements." read more

On 12/13/2025 I booked an Uber ride from the West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center to an offsite lot owned by Metropolis nearer the South Convention building. It was less than 2 mi. Unfortunately, the Uber app which is extremely difficult to use picked up a Metropolis lot 11 mi away. I told the driver there was an error as soon as I realized he was driving too far. He kept rudely insisting he had to take me where the app said while I repeatedly attempted to tell him where I needed to go. It wasn't until I threatened to call the police that he dropped me off in the right lot. This morning my bank account shows 2 charges totally over $31.00 for a ride of only about 5 mi incl the error. Uber support is useless. They use online chat. For a phone call they want a $5 deposit which is really $53. Needless to say I will NEVER use Uber again. I requested an Uber when the driver pulled up at my hotel. He made me wait outside the van (wouldn't load luggage) while he went in my hotel and went to the bathroom. After 15 minutes, a taxi was waiting there I took the taxi. I canceled the Uber before he even came out of the hotel (bathroom). Uber charged me a $10 cancellation fee. Unless you're willing to pay through the nose, don't use Uber to/from MCO. Drivers will constantly cancel on you and that's on the off chance one of them even takes you up. During the afternoon, it is even worse. Uber rates typically become more than triple what they normally are, provided the drivers don't accept and then cancel your ride. Taxis, though unreliable, are both more reliable than Uber and also cheaper. Locals tend to avoid Uber for this reason. Don't rely on Uber here. read more

When we arrived at the NCL Epic Terminal 3 Uber pick-up area I ordered our UberXL for pick-up. It took about 10 minutes for our UberXL Nissan van to arrive at 8:46 am. An NCL Epic porter and the UberXL driver helped us to load our luggage into the back of our UberXL. There was enough space for our three large bags. We arrived at MCO United Airlines, Gates 30-59, Airside 3, Terminal B departing at 9:36 am. It took 49 minutes to travel 48 miles. Our driver was very fast and effective, therefore I rated our driver with 5 stars. We had no traffic. Our UberXL cost $105 excluding gratuity. I would recommend UberXL again. read more

On December 10th I lost my cellular device with the driver Dieusibon, on the way to the airport, within minutes I contacted the driver, and he confirmed that he had my device but couldn't get back to me in time before my flight. Afterwards I contacted Uber about my lost device, and they also confirmed to have my device, told me that id have pay a 20-dollar delivery fee to receive my device back, but never gave me any further instruction. We used Uber 6 times during our Orlando vacay, with the most recent being our ride to the airport today. Three of those experiences were great- clean cars and efficient pick ups. The other 3 times, the vehicle interior was nasty (stained seats) and/or stunk. We had one Uber driver make us wait for 20 minutes before cancelling. Another driver made us wait a little over 20 minutes. And both times, the actual time for the car to pick us up was longer than the estimated time. Lastly, on our trip back from Universal Studios to our hotel, the UberX price quote was $108. I ended up going with Lyft which cost $43.99. read more

Lyft in the Orlando area will either be a hit or a miss. It's easy to get a lyft ride from the airport (MCO) but when you're away from the city alot of the drivers will cancel on you or in one case the driver showed up to pick me up and told me "I'm not you're driver" while clearly he was and proceeded to go to a bar next door and have fun. 5 July 2018 First time riding with Uber anywhere! I didn't travel very far, literally a 10 minute drive to pick up my car at the dealership. But It was a great first time experience. My driver Juan was pleasant, clean car, and great hospitality. Asked if the air was right when I got in the car, if I wanted to listen to music, and to let him know if anything changes.
