We were very pleased with the service from Jay and his team at Yellow Cab. We needed a ride from Echo Lake, where we had left our van to the start point of our backpacking trip in Meeks Bay. It was very easy to connect with Jay through Yelp and his dispatch called me immediately to confirm my reservation. They were also very helpful when I wanted to make an adjustment to the pick up time. Miro, our driver arrived promptly at 9 am and was very interesting and engaging during the drive to Meeks Bay. I had originally reached out to 4 other ride companies to get quotes and Yellow Cab was about half the cost the others quoted. Would definitely recommend them and use them in the future. read more

We were celebrating my Birthday in South lake Tahoe this year. We were shocked to find out the Casino's were charging $10.00hrly to park. I decided to investigate other means of transportation or parking, unfortunately the other services were limiting and costly. then I found The Yellow Cab company. Our driver was "Leszek" a wonderful funny man, he was informative pleasant,charismatic and very very punctual. He gave us his card and said "call him when were ready to go back". We never waited longer than 5 minuets and he was usually there waiting on us. When our trip was over we felt as we had made a friend. You;d be silly not to call yellow cab for your trip. Unsure how it can take over an hour to dispatch a cab under 5 miles from the shop to Barton hospital for pickup. Called in to the automated system. Said a cab is booked. About 5 minutes later a cab drove by on the hiway and didn't stop. Called about every 15 minutes for about an hour. Human response kept on saying a cab was on the way. After standing in a snowstorm for an hour asked to talk to a supervisor. After being nice on the phone numerous times, got an expletive from a piece of shit named chris. A senior citizen who had a prior broken wrist and broken leg from snow and ice accidents had to walk almost 2 miles home in the snow storm. Senior citizen was limping about halfway home from the prior injury to the leg. This is the second time this senior citizen had to walk home in the snow after calling yellow cab. read more

BEWARE OF SCAMMER DRIVERS I was quoted $24 and the meter ended up at $30 - no problem. Then when I went to pay the driver he told me "tonight is double" and demanded $60. I told him that was unreasonable and probably illegal and he tried to justify it because "this is what uber is charging tonight." I contacted the dispatcher, Mel, who informed me this was not true and that my driver was car #41. He then connected me to a man named Chris out of Phoenix, AZ who I assume is the boss. Chris told me that "sometimes the drivers gouge people during the holidays." He got frustrated when I asked him if this was illegal and then he hung up on me mid sentence. My advice - Go with Lyft or Uber instead and skip this dishonest company. read more

I had the privilege of 2 rides with Frank the Cabby on 2/25/17 and BEST IN CLASS is an understatement for Frank! I called Frank that morning when the gondola was down in Heavenly Village and the parking lot was full for the California Loge. I live in South Lake Tahoe and have sent A LOT of business to the Yellow Cab Company. When I called this morning to speak to a manager or get some information of who I could talk to about my issue, the man was very rude and said I could call Monday morning at 9am. He's telling me I have to wait a week to make my complaint that completely messed up my traveling plans? RIDICULOUS! This is what happened: I called at 4am this morning (10/2/12) to get a cab to Mont Bleu Casino which is a 5 minute drive from my house. At Mont Bleu, I was supposed to catch the South Tahoe Express at 4:17am to take me to the airport. When I called the Yellow Cab, the man said they would have a cab to my house in just a couple of minutes. 10 minutes go by and I call back to ask if the cab is near and that I have to catch a bus, he seemed to not care. The driver (his name is Leszek) shows up at 4:15am, I told him I was in a huge rush to make it to my bus. I got to Mont Bleu at 4:20am and waited for 20 minutes to find out...sure enough I missed my bus that I prepaid for. I ran back to the cab that picked me up and asked how much it would be to get a ride to the airport...$200!!! Luckily the driver was understanding and cut me a little bit of a deal. I'm VERY UPSET and will NEVER refer the Yellow Cab in South Lake Tahoe again. I will make sure that everyone knows that they are not there to pick you up by the time they say, and they have no customer service skills when you call in politely to speak with a manager. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! My driver Leszek is the only reason I give this 1 star, because he cut me a small deal and actually showed some sympathy for the fact that his company is very unorganized and cost me money that I don't have. I don't understand all of these bad reviews. We have been using these guys for over a year for trips to the grocery, out to eat or to the airport shuttle. I actually make sure everyone who is traveling is ready to go before I call the taxi because they usually show up almost immediately. The only 'bad' experience I have had with them is once a driver was playing Rush Limbaugh, so we had to listen to that garbage for 10 minutes. Other than that - every trip has been normal/cool. I work for a business in Tahoe that sends out a lot of calls for cabs.... Yellow cab is by far the absolute worst company to call. After years of dealing with this company I am finally writing a review. I have dealt with rude and snappy dispatchers. Having to call numerous times because they make people wait extended amounts of time when they claim it will be no more than 5 minutes. Going whole nights having to deal with the company not answering their phones and getting turned away from other companies if it's a NV to NV ride and having to explain that to unhappy customers... Trying to ask questions for the customer like estimated wait time or pricing usually results in short confusing answers and being hung up on or simply no answer and being hung up on. If you want a cab in the Stateline and South Lake Tahoe area I would very highly recommend you try one of the many other companies in town. If you have to deal with yellowcab though because of the limited licenses other cabs have in this town then I suggest getting the personal numbers from drivers so you don't have to deal with dispatch hell. read more

They are all over the place on the Nevada side, so there was almost no wait anywhere we went. The drivers though were really not personable. We tried to make conversation and it just wasn't happening. Obviously you don't have much choice on the Nevada side, but if their service improved at least they could improve their tips. (I would include Frank's cell number but apparently Yelp things that the phone number on Frank's *business card* is private and should not be published so just ask for him. :) This is five stars for Frank the Cabby. I can't speak for all of Yellow Cab. If you ask for Frank the Cabby at Yellow cab you will be very satisfied by how nice and friendly and helpful Frank is. I needed to go to the market in South Lake with my 18 month old daughter. So I needed a cab to come pick us up, wait while I put the car seat in, take us to the market, wait for us to shop and then take us home and unload. Frank was very courteous, very friendly, very cheerful and very helpful. He helped us load and unload and was very sweet to my daughter. He even came into the market to tell us he had moved the cab a few spots over to wait for us. Frank the Cabby is alright with me. read more

The operator must only have 20% brain capacity. I gave the most clear directions on my exact location and they sent two taxis to wrong location, and those taxis let other random people take my spot. I've talked to the operated 5 times tonight and told her every time where my exact location and for some reason she couldn't communicate that with her drivers. Don't waste your time waiting an hour for a 1.5 mile taxi ride. They also offered no condolences for making me wait an hour outside in 9* weather. read more

Don't take these cabs!!! We're 99% sure we left a cell phone in cab #805. We had the phone getting into the cab but not afterward. The phone rang for a few minutes but was quickly turned off, sending calls directly to voicemail. We checked the ground outside at the hotel and then called lakeside casino where we came from immediately. They said they didn't see anything on the ground either. So in fairness there is a 1% chance it could've fallen out at the casino and someone there could've taken it. But we weren't drink and would've heard it fall. On top of that, the cab driver was very quick to drop very crude n-bomb jokes after offering Tahoe facts or jokes. read more

The driver himself was polite and fine. The fare was acceptable. Was waiting a couple of minutes more than I had hoped but I built in a few extra minutes so it was no big deal - disappointing though considering I gave ample advanced notice. Dispatch, however? Rude and obnoxious. I called at about 2:10 asking if it would be possible to get a taxi at 2:45 because I had to be at an event at 3:00, sharp. Dispatcher, exasperated, said "man, I can't tell the future" and "why don't you just call when you need it?" before admitting "yeah, fine we'll try it" before ever letting me get a word in. Sorry, I didn't realize it was so inconvenient for me to throw some business your way - and that I thought the business you were in was to give people rides at the times they needed rides. He then proceeded to ask me my room number, and then tell me I had better be "looking for it [the cab], cause nobody is gonna come knocking on your door for you." Um, OK - this adult was planning to be downstairs but appreciate your tone. A cab is a cab is a cab. Not so! We were in South Lake Tahoe and going out to dinner so we took a cab in the event we had a bit too much to eat. Using Uber or Lyft lately and not any cabs has created a bias. The cab we rode in was filthy, torn seats, discolored upholstery, duct tape holding things together etc. We took a Yellow cab for a 1.5 mile ride for $11 which seemed high but Uber was the same price. The major difference was the condition of the car. Honesty this car should scrapped but I don't think anyone would take it. Overall the cab got us to our destination and then we tried to get an Uber for the trip back to the hotel, but none were available. So we took the cab with the same experience on the way back to the hotel. This was our only option, too bad for us. read more

Very disappointed in this company's service. We called the night before to schedule a cab for 2:30 am. 2:38 rolls around, no cab, I call, they said nobody had even picked up the order yet and that nobody was on their way. Now, when one schedules a cab, it's because they need said cab at a certain time. Now, in the middle of the night, in a snowstorm, I had to get up to dig out my car at warp speeds in order to drive my husband himself to his bus. Had he missed that bus, he would've missed his flight, and that would've been all yellow cabs fault. I ended up bringing him and in the hour it took me to dig out my car, a cab never showed up! read more

Would not schedule a pickup when we called and insisted that we call when we were outside our location. The cab driver had the heat cut up so high that it was close to 85 degrees in the back seat and would not cut it down. Harvey was my driver for 2 trips during my stay at Tahoe, and he is simply the coolest guy ever. He's super reliable and provided us with such great service. What more could you ask for in a taxi driver?!?! It made me kind of sad during our last ride when we had to say bye to him because he became such a friend :'( I really enjoyed talking to him and listening to his stories to keep us entertained during our rides. He even gave us his personal card and always arrived in no time. The guy who picks up the telephone sounded pretty rude though. Always gave an attitude when I asked for basic information. The cars are junky, but the customer service is AMAZING!! After a day of drinking, I dropped my phone in the back seat of a cab. Now, normally, I would expect that my brand new smart phone would be history. I mean, who is really honest these days? I was pretty bummed when I got home, and needed to check my voicemails. When I called my phone, someone picked up! I was a little angry at first, because I thought that someone not only had the nerve to STEAL my phone, but they ANSWERED IT!! Low and behold, it was Yellow Cab! They informed me that they had my phone, and would be happy to send it to me, free of charge! Thank you Yellow Cab! You saved me $400! read more
