Bring something new and exiting to an old tired neighbourhood and some people can't stand it. Pretty sad. We have had nothing but good experiences there and will continue to visit.

The place is a bit higher than a 3 but without 1/4 stars Yelp makes it hard to give more accurate reviews. For dinner ? The Donair ! I haven't had one in years and was super excited about finding it on the menu. It did not disappoint! Nothing beats a good Donair . I would say fresh cut fries should be added to the menu . They make meals that much better. Also one thing I like about dinning in Canada is that so many places have fresh cut fries. All in all a good experience. Lovely staff. Good food. Good beer.

I chopped the chicken up into tiny bits and mixed it all together so that they flavors from the chicken could add at least some excitement to the pasta, but while it helped it didn't quite save the dish. Overall the experience was fairly mediocre. Maybe I should have gotten a burger, but I went with the host's recommendation instead for a dish I normally quite enjoy and came away disappointed. The price of the side of poutine is on me - I didn't ask ahead of time. But it came out to be nearly double what I'd expected for half as much as I'd thought it would be.

It was open late on most evenings along with Papa George's that was up the street. The latter is no longer there. This eatery has gone through a bunch of changes over the years. When I was new to the neighbourhood, this eatery had two floors. The top floor had a traditional bar and restaurant. The lower floor also had a bar, but the artsy, younger folks spent time hanging around there. This place went through some renovations. If I remember things correctly, the basement got renovated and everything was on the top floor for months. The Toad in the Hole used to be on the east side of Osborne Street. When Buccacino's closed down further south and on the west side of Osborne Street, this eatery took the space over and has been there for a few years now. I have yet to see what the space looks like. Part of me wants to remember what Buccacino's was like before it shut down. The other part of me wants a scotch egg from The Toad. I love scotch eggs. I had my first one here. I remember the egg being soft-boiled. When you cut through the breading and sausage, the yolk would slowly ooze out. The scotch egg was deep-fried to perfection. Yum! I also liked getting its namesake. It was two sunny-side eggs in grilled Texas toast. It came with hashbrowns. You could choose from sausage, bacon, or ham as your protein side. I enjoyed the toad-themed breakfast menu besides the Toad in the Hole: - Tadpole (two eggs without being fried within toast) - Big toad (think English breakfast with baked beans, grilled tomato slices, and all protein sides) - Senor toad (tortillas topped with refried beans, sunny-side eggs, guacamole, pico de gallo, and cheddar) - Vegan senor toad (similar to the regular one, substituting the eggs for grilled veggies and the cheddar for a vegan version) The fish and chips are also decent here. The fish is pickerel, which was different than cod or halibut. It tasted fresh, which I loved. I don't recall ever having dessert here. I don't remember if it even served any! I've been here twice now and have been generally satisfied with the food here. Their chicken tenders are known to be one of the best in the city, and that was what I had in my most recent visit. In a city where the market for chicken tenders is competitive, they do a great job here. I actually find their honey dill sauce to be what carries this dish, it's the best I've had in the entire city. Service isn't too much to write home about, but I was content as long as the food was good, in which case it was here. It's a good pre or post-event pub food if you don't wanna spend arena money.

I've so far gone with Kansas City BBQ and Honey Garlic, and honestly you can't go wrong with either. They're ranked in order of spiciness, so feel free to try some spicy ones depending on your tolerance. I've had their french onion soup before as well. Meh. Their cowboy burger on the other hand was worth the try! Their burgers are slightly pricier than your typical pub, but I do believe there are decent burgers that are worth a try or two. Service has been consistently good here. Definitely worth for wing night at least, and it's probably one of the better atmospheres to watch sports.

I initially craved a burger, but the diverse options in the menu threw me for a ride in trying something else that's not a burger. I ended up having a pizza from them instead, in particular the Grove Pizza. The Grove Pizza comes with garlic oil, mozzarella, fig jam, prosciutto, arugula, balsamic reduction, truffle oil, and pecorino. The pizza was excellent and of perfect personal size. I would say however they overloaded a bit too much on the arugula, to the point where I can't see or taste much of anything else on the pizza. The atmosphere was slightly ruined by the fact we had someone behind us having an extremely loud conversation to the point everyone in our section was able to hear it. I definitely recommend this place and would return. Hopefully it'd be a better atmosphere next time I'm here.

I was coming home with two friends after a day at Bird's Hill Park, and decided to stop by here so I can try here for the first time. The ambiance here is quite upscale with the lighting inside. I had the seafood linguine, which came with a garlic toast. It was really good, though at a slightly elevated price. I would say for the north half of the city, this is the best upscale cuisine. However, I would rank this below Cafe Carlo and Tre Visi. Not to take away anything from here though, it's still a great place to dine. Service was excellent throughout here.

This one was quite good; the gruyere cheese was plentiful and was gooey, which is how it should be. The chicken tenders were crispy with plenty of batter. The honey dill sauce is on the creamy side, which I didn't like as much but I can imagine others preferring the creaminess of the sauce. It won't be a place that'll be on my regular visit rotation due to location and price, but I'd definitely have this in my list of suggestions for a special occasion.

The first time this happened I contacted the restaurant management and said that rather than leave a bad review, I would like to speak to him about it. It obviously didn't help because the next three visits were just as disastrous.
