After 4 years installation, YellowLite responded immediately to fix an issue. Warranty coverage! First, an immediate customer service response with an expert HUMAN. BUYER BEWARE. Ultimately this project was a bait and switch. Sales over promised and design could not deliver on the proposed system. I spent more than 2 months attempting to understand what the changes Yellowlite made to the design and function of the system were. By the time I finally got answers on that it was clear the project could not be delivered on as promised by sales at the pricing which was quoted due to end of federal solar subsidies. 2 months I tried to work in good faith with this company to find something which was agreeable to both myself and Yellowlite. Unfortunately, that did not come to pass. About 1 month ago prior to posting this review I was told this was to be handed over to their business unit for cancellation of the project. Since then Yellowlite has ignored any additional communication from us. I can assume for nothing else besides malice for expecting them to honor what their sales team has promised. I do not have solar from this company as we could not get this over the finishline in the final design phase. Communication from sales as top notch. Everything after that has been a disaster. And at this point this company has functionally robbed me of a $7000 deposit which they appear to have no intention of returning despite their sales team promising as much. read more

Never use this company. They had to redo our plans 3 separate times, and took twice as long as they said they would. They ended up not even going by the plans during installation because they were wrong. They did not stick to their original quote, and did not complete the job. They then demanded more money to finish what we agreed on. After paying them the additional money my panels are still not working correctly. Justin, our case manager was rude, mostly unavailable, and unhelpful. Its been 2 months since my installation was completed and my panels are still not working correctly. I get no response back from the company. read more

HOWEVER, the promise of battery back up is non existent. I had to wait 4 YEARS for battery backup to be installed at my house. YellowLite encouraged using Tesla backup battery as being the best on the market. Tesla gave me the run around for 2yrs before I asked for my deposit back. Then it took 1yr to find out YellowLite supposedly installs Tesla, and now another year of run around waiting for YellowLite to install Tesla power-walls. Then I started receiving emails from YellowLite advertising for Generac power-walls. Wonderful. I asked for quotes for Generac power-wall installation (even though it will require a rework of my system because of incompatibility issues). That took another year of delay tactics through the manager (Fida Aziz) before they would finally install the Generac power cell. Once the manager would finally relinquish control to the install team, the project was completed pretty quickly. The install team is professional, the administration is not. No post project support. Brandon has reached out to me, explained current abilities to assist me in my endeavors and clarified what they would need from me (communication and time schedule from other contractors of other trades). "I must admit, we knew nothing about solar energy except what we had heard - it's the way of the future - nontoxic/polluting free energy. Of course, it's not free and there are many expensive hidden pitfalls. After extensive research, we contracted with one of the very best providers, YellowLite to design and install a 35 panel system that should power all our electrical needs. The salesman, Cody, spent numerous hours investigating and answering our many questions. The installers, Orlando & Chris; electricians, Ron & Drew; and program manager, Zach; were all worth their weight in gold! Starting their days early in less than 20 degrees (prior to wind chill!) winter weather they braved the steep pitched roof to install our solar system. We don't know where you find these dedicated employees but hope you can continue to attract, retain, and motivate them to stay with our YellowLite family! Coincidently, the day after the installation was completed, a new electrical (solar compatible) meter was installed by the local energy company, the system was approved by the county inspector, and I, the owner, personally flipped the 'ON' switch! What a buzz to see the electrical meter start spinning in reverse! Yellowlite is very good at design and quality of the installation. They provided very detailed electrical diagrams of the overall design. I had an 8.06 kWh system installed and the generation rate, so far, is excellent! It will be even better once I fell/trim a couple trees. My concerns are in their communication practices. I ask questions that go unanswered until I follow up 1, 2, 3 or more times. They have online tools (BuilderTrend) to enable easier communication with customers, but it seems that unless you email the manager, you get no response. If I were someone with less technical knowledge and/or project management experience I would likely throw a fit about the quality of communication...especially with a product that has such a high investment cost. It seems that they only want to run on their own internal timeline/communication channels and have no desire to communicate with those they are serving. Nobody directly speaks with the customer to lay out the project timeline or to follow up when the forecasted milestone dates in BuilderTrend are breached. In fact, when the main panel installs occurred, I was only contacted when they were already on their way to my house (I was out of town on vacation)...this resulted in delayed final configuration/activation. All substantive communication interactions I had were solely initiated by me, except for when they wanted payment. Final parting note: The salesman stated the system would be installed by April. While it was installed only 1 month late (end of May), it was not enabled until mid-June due to the reason noted above. read more

I had a 5kW system installed on my roof in 2014. When people ask me about it I remind them it is an investment. Any good investment takes time to pay off. Some months are better than others and some summers are better than others. I do believe the solar install does provide a great deal of relief for the most part. The install was quick, efficient and done well. The inspector that was sent out was an old neighbor and he even said about how impressed he was with the quality of work that was done. I highly recommend Yellowlite for your solar needs. read more

Yellowlite installed a 5 KWH system on my roof a couple years ago. They were polite and professional during the installation process, and they gave me a reasonable price. However, the battery back up installation that I paid an extra $2000 for is worthless after 3 years. It powered my house recently during a test "outage" for me for 20 minutes, under low power consumption. There have been other bugs in my system which have crippled it sometimes for weeks at a time. It is generating power, to a degree, but I think that it will take longer to earn back my initial investment in it. If I could go back I would not do the battery back up system. Better to just get a generator. read more

YellowLite installed my solar system (36 panels, 91% of my energy requirements) in mid-Feb 2020. I have not paid a utility bill since then, and still have a $500 credit on my net metering. Not bad for an all-electric tri-level home, where I keep the AC set on 72F all summer..... I used the EnergySage website to gather quotes and do my research. Of the four quotes (one outside of EnergySage), YellowLite was the best system in terms of energy generation, as well as least expensive by a wide (about 20K) margin. The installation crew were very efficient and professional, as were all the folks who were involved in the project planning, surveys and service initiation. Communication was a bit spotty before project installation, but things really took off from there and I honesty cannot recommend YellowLite highly enough. Installation took less than one day. The SolarEdge app lets you see exactly what your system is generating every hour of every day. It's so wonderful to wake up every day and know I did something wonderful for Mother Earth, and it's paying me personal dividends as well. Even on an overcast November day, my system is producing SOLAR ENERGY. And if you do your research, you will likely find that if you need financing to go solar, your monthly loan payments will be about the same as you are currently paying to your energy provider; the difference is when your loan payments are completed, you will have FREE ENERGY for years to come. If you are thinking of a solar system, DON'T WAIT!! Your free electricity and your solar energy tax credit (22% in 2021) are waiting!! read more

We were very pleased with the service YellowLite provided. From design, permits, sight selection and installation-- very professional. The electrician that worked inside the house and the crew that installed the panels were great guys. All of them were willing to share knowledge with me! Once the panel was up and running...we have appreciated sunny days all the more! It's been impressive how Northwest Ohio, gray skies is still producing energy even in our winter months.
