Had heard good things about Auburn so I called when we felt the house wasn't cooling down in this hot weather. The service tech was able to come out the next day. He said the AC had no Freon, and the furnace's interior was very rusty. He got me in touch with the tech who writes up the estimates. He came by, told me about my options and warranties, and maintenance plans. I paid him half the cost of everything by credit card. The installers were out on Saturday, two days later! I didn't get a call that they were on their way, but I knew they would be here between 8-9 a.m. 7:55 they pulled in, and I was waiting. The guys went right to work. They had a lot of new equipment, and removed the old stuff. We had an AC unit and new furnace with thermostat installed. The guys were very neat and quiet, and cleaned up the basement and the driveway. Everything went well. I totally recommend Auburn H-VAC. read more

The company appears to function primarily as a dispatch service that generates leads and refers customers to third-party contractors whose qualifications they refused to verify. After paying a $225 service fee, I received a replacement quote of approximately $9,900: A small 60 BTU Furnace and 50 LB water heater, but no sufficient technical justification, reasons of equipment failure or a breakdown of labor, equipment, and material costs. it 30 days any request for additional information from Auburn Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning, left ignored Additionally, while inspecting the equipment located in the basement area accessed through my garage on the south side of my house, one of the technicians walked to the opposite area of my property where he was not invited and without my authorization and took photographs through an open front door, capturing views of my bedroom and bathroom. My phone calls, request for addition information, were received by a dispatch, but never followed up by anyone with the authority or technical knowledge to address them. Over approximately 30 days of communications, the same dispatch changed her story: Initially, I was told that the company could not discuss or confirm details of the proposed work with my insurance company without my authorization. After I expressly provided that authorization, no contact was made with my insurer. Later, the same dispatch started saying that they do not communicate with insurance companies at all. Conflicting explanations, inability to do the work I paid for. These conflicting explanations, combined with the company's inability to provide the documentation and evaluation I paid for, its unwillingness to refund the service fee, and its failure to explain the unauthorized photographs, significantly undermined my confidence in the company's professionalism, transparency, and business practices. read more

My new faucet had been leaking for two days. I called on a Sunday night, and already had a technician come out today on a Monday. Jared worked so hard and tried patiently to fix the faucet that was only two months old. This faucet was defective! A new faucet should arrive at the end of the week. Until then, I don't have dripping water. There are many companies out there. I am so impressed with Auburn: quick response, professionalism, careful work. Auburn Heating went above and beyond on furnace replacement! Ryan and the rest of the team got the old furnace out and the new one in on a Saturday. In fact there was a defective part in the new furnace and Ryan tried to get it from the HVAC supply store. Unfortunately this was around 4pm on a Saturday and the store was closed. So Ryan went back to Auburn's shop and luckily there was another furnace for another job later in the week. He cleared it with his supervisor to take the part out of that other new unit. About 40 minutes after he originally left, he showed up at our door with the new part. He then installed it and we had heat for the first time in three days. Our entire experience with Auburn Heating was outstanding. From the tech (Mike) that first showed up to troubleshoot the furnace to the sales manager (Bob) who helped with my home warranty, all were professional great to work with. I could kick myself for not checking reviews on this company until after I got stung for $412 for a service call on a $36 part. It was considered 'holiday hours' even though it wasn't a holiday. It was a day after. A Friday. I have sent 3 emails and 2 phone calls to get a return call from their office manager. It's been 2 weeks and still nothing. I also inquired what is involved in the 'gold maintenance' plan because I was considering wanting to sign up. Still no reply. I am now giving up on them. Tried them for a furnace check and 2 weeks later my ignitor went bad on a sub freezing day. Now I wonder if they had switched a part on me for it to break down and get $412 for a 15 minute service call. Trust is out the window. Time to move on. read more

Despite a 20+ year history which included 2 new furnaces, 2 new central AC units, 2 new hot water heaters and countless service appointments, this company recently opted to charge me more than $1200 for the installation of a $200 part that took less than 30 minutes to install. When I asked for a breakdown on parts and labor, they flat out refused to provide one. From my perspective, they are flat out not trustworthy. After the guy fixed our AC with out telling me he installed a $550 part (no way protocol) plus $150 diagnostic fee and then didnt take a payment on site, i got hounded by the cackling accounts lady like it was money i owed her personally somehow! Had them out for a leak under my sink. They came out, spent less than 5 minutes on the leak, wouldn't accept my coupon because of fine print and one month later the leak was back again. When I called them and advised them that the leak was back and they did not repair it properly, I was told that apparently it was fixed because it worked for a month. Not wanting to argue I asked them to just come out and repair the leak and they told me that they were booked up and couldn't make it out for quite some time (about a week). I told them to forget it. I needed a new air conditioner and furnace. The work was done quickly, was done without any inconvenience and the cleanup was done well.

Called about a hot water tank leak. They were quick to charge us $125 to tell us that it was toast but still under warranty. The new tank was available that same day by Bradford White but it was not a priority for Auburn Heating and Plumbing, so they paid to have it delivered causing a 48 hour delay while we had no hot water. I found a local company that was able to come that same day (with a tank) because they understood our emergency. I would not recommend this company for any emergency services!!! read more

We signed up for Dominion's service program. The furnace wasn't working, so dominion sent Auburn Heating- they are BAD!!!!! Buyer beware!! My first clue was that the guy they sent was on his cell - someone was walking him through what to do. He was clueless. Then they said to wait a few days bc the parts store is closed for the holiday. Said we needed a fan center and a fan-high limit. Then they called and said it's still not open, wait until Monday (furnace broke the Wednesday prior) -at which point they called and said that the two parts we needed are obsolete and we should just get a new furnace. Seemed fishy so I called a different heating company, they came out and fixed it on the spot. And it was only one part, not two that needed fixed. It was the gas control valve. They are crooks!!!!! read more

Auburn Heating Plumbing & etc called to schedule pre-season maintenance and check-up for our boiler and hot water baseboard system. At the end of the appointment, technicians explained that my system was unsafe and that they had disconnected it. They told me the issues and said they would send a quote. All of this was very odd to me considering that they had completed repairs on the system last year and none of what they mentioned had been an issue then. Somehow there had been a catastrophic failure during the summer when the system was not in use. Because they had turned our heat off at the boiler, we could not use the system and we waited days for a quote without the ability to use our heat. When the quote did come it was ASTRONOMICAL. Being skeptical, I called another company for a second opinion. They performed tests, transparently, in front of me and explained that there was nothing wrong with the boiler or the system and that I could run it safely. I will not be using Auburn Heating Plumbing and whatnot ever again and I'd advise my neighbors to avoid them too. read more

Buyer beware - do your homework and get competitive quotes. After using this company for years to do annual service on our furnace and A/C - and even having them replace our A/C we called them to replace our hot water tank. I didn't think I needed to get a competitive quote because I trusted them and our past relationship. They quoted me $3000 and I assumed we must have some special, high end $2000 or higher cost tank so I accepted the quote. But I don't - I have a normal 50 Gallon, natural gas tank with an atmospheric vent that I Googled and saw it had a retail price of $1050. It took them about 4 man hours to do the job - so I guess there labor costs must be around $500/hr. When I asked the owner to justify this his attitude was that nobody had coerced me into accepting their quote, I could have gotten competitive bids, and I could have said no thanks. All true, but I would rather be the ignorant homeowner that got burned than the business owner who took advantage of a long standing relationship built on trust. read more

After carefully checking their credentials, I had Auburn replace an older oil boiler with a new gas unit. They did not try to sell me the most expensive unit, but looked at my needs and made an appropriate recommendation.
