We had a great time, it was a highlight of our trip to Yellowstone! We are shooting novices, and Ben took great care to explain the mechanics of shooting with a huge emphasis on safety. This place is great! We were staying in Island Park, Idaho and went into town for the day. My two youngest sons didn't think they would be able to do this but my 25 year old son wanted to so we went in. Well, Montana has different laws than CA! We all we able to shoot guns here. Ages 12- up can shoot. The staff/owners are very friendly and helpful. They taught us gun safety, history and facts about each gun we shot, and we shot a lot! They even have a Gatling Gun from the Civil War. And yes you can shot that too!! Highly recommend this place!! read more

We had so much fun here. 8 of us went in to shoot all sorts of guns. M-16's, Kriss', Tommy Guns, Gatling Guns... you name it. It's not cheap though. $50 will let you shoot about 20 rounds out of an M-16. So that lasts about 15 seconds. But hey, where else are you going to shoot military grade weapons without joining the Army? A once in a lifetime experience for sure. Definitely do it if you can. read more

COOL PLACE! This place is definitely good to go if you want to try and shoot some guns. There's a variety of guns to choose from. The employees are also very friendly and patient. They will assist you with the guns throughout the whole time and be beside you so it's safe. We also get to wear ear muffs and protective eyewear. Me and my family bought the 3 gun package for $130 and we chose the Glock 19, Thompson, and the MP5. It's pricey but definitely worth the experience. Every time we finish shooting a gun, we get to take pictures with the gun and paper target! Excellent for Chinese tourists too! read more

This place is an excellent range for some shooting. In between your Yellowstone day trips, stop into Big Gun Fun. My wife was a first time shooter. The range master was excellent in teaching her the basics. She was shooting after 10 minutes of instruction. We are from LA, where Nazi like restrictions are put in place to discourage gun ownership and shooting. In Montana, the 2nd Amendment rules, and walking into Big Gun Fun proved it. read more

Wow this was the coolest thing we did in West Yellowstone. Eric and his wife the owner are super nice and they are very knowledgeable about weapons. They have some awesome packages if you want to shoot different weapons. You have got to try the KRISS .45 ACP OMG!! They have a good range of automatic and semi-auto weapons as well as handguns. I'm floored: I've been looking for a place with responsible adults to teach my children some basics about guns ... I was not expecting such a FANTASTIC time!! We came in the morning (ie empty beside us) and the owner took 20mn to talk safety to my 11yo son, from the risk of kicking a gun with your shoe, to basic visual inspection of something found on the ground, or at a friend house, and everything else around guns. Then he taught some VERY SAFE gun handling and gun shooting, and my son had a blast shooting his 20 rounds. As for me, I enjoyed the SAFE environment, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the place (smell, shells, etc). Hired staff is equally nice. I highly recommend to anybody who is NOT "pro-gun", who might not be interested in shooting in general. I highly recommend for children educational purpose. (6yo and up - at the discretion of the management). 5pm and on can become a zoo. Come in the morning/early pm, or talk to the owner and make an apt. Chances are that you can get a good and calm lecture from the owner as I did. read more

We went here with our family and had such a great time. Even the ladies liked shooting the full auto firearms. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We had the opportunity to work directly with the owners while we were there and they were fantastic. We asked about all the stuff written in Chinese and they mentioned that they get loads of Asian customers so who can blame them for capitalizing on that! We will go back next time we are in town for sure, this is a must stop place from now on. Naturally the youngest kids weren't able to shoot for safety reasons but I appreciate that. After reading some of the poor reviews, it seems that some people didn't know what to expect or have ego issues. We couldn't have been happier with our time there. read more

"My 13 year old son loves video games and thinks he knows a lot about guns. When we stumbled upon this place his eyes grew like saucers. We spoke with the kind lady at the front desk who showed us all the guns that went with the various packages. We decided on the "kids package" for $42 and he got to choose a pistol and a rifle. He was delighted to see that the targets he could choose from included an alien and a zombie. After the gun master went through safety for the whole family which included eye goggles and earmuffs we got to watch him shoot and take pictures. I was surprised he was a great shot! This was the highlight of his Yellowstone trip but he did admit the bison were pretty amazing too. In addition to the great memory he got to take home his two posters for bragging rights. read more

BGF has a decent selection of firearms, including some rare ones in fully auto, and the gatling gun. My only complaints are some ranges have a bigger selection, and their range is a little small and somewhat cramped, but unless you are going to spend thousands of dollars on rentals, you will not get bored with their inventory. Its a great place to spend an hour or two on your way through Yellowstone, and its in a smaller building in a small town so the range is understandable. Very well ventilated and lit, modern and clean. Extremely helpful staff, very friendly and accommodating. The staff was very safety conscious and I felt completely safe shooting there. They were also knowledgeable about the guns, and were willing to talk about them instead of shuffling you through. The prices were more than reasonable, and very competitive with other ranges I've shot at. They were even so kind as to let me and a friend keep some of the empty brass from our experience with a few full auto's. Overall, I highly recommend this range for both beginners and experienced shooters, and will definitely stop in again the next time I'm in the area. read more
