Management house on the hill behind the KOA shot off very large loud fireworks. Scared many of the campers animals. Office just passed the complaint off as oh well! Went here is a child and brought mine. Nice to see it all again. Old faithful was great too. This KOA is 7 miles outside of town. We rented a cabin. Sheets are provided, utensils, shower has shampoo and conditioner and gel. There is a country store, playground, and pizza to order. We really like the mine for gold station also. We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Yellowstone. It's about 10 minutes from the west entrance to the park. As far as RV parks go, I'd day this is on the nicer side. It's a big RV park and it didn't feel to crowded. We had an end spot so we weren't super close to any other RVs. They had a small store with some camping/grocery essentials. We got some snacks there after a long day in the park. My main complaint is that they say they have WiFi, but it's so bad that your device typically won't stay connected to the network. Overall, it's not bad as far as RV parks go. Their sites are full hookup and they have laundry too. read more

We LOVED our Deluxe Cabin at this KOA near Yellowstone and very much enjoyed our time here. The cabin was (mostly) clean and well-maintained with sleeping arrangements for six people, including: a small room with bunk beds, a pullout sofa bed in the common/kitchen area, and a full bed in the master bedroom. We had a fully-stocked kitchen with stove, microwave and fridge. Dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and other essentials were all included. Outside the cabin had a large front porch, fire pit, and picnic table. There were some areas that should have been improved. First, the shower was decent but not great, with really low water pressure. The water heater was also very small and the staff warned us ahead of time not to indulge in long showers. My wife and I both showered quickly to conserve the hot water. Second, the floors were kind of dirty and left our bare feet dirty. There were also some cobwebs in the ceiling corners that should have been cleared out by the cleaners. The campground and RV areas were quiet in the evening and we slept great in our cabin. The staff was friendly and hospitable. We were only a short drive to Yellowstone and very much enjoyed our time there. Would highly recommend! read more

Would not stay here again and debating on renewing our KOA membership due to the service at this KOA. First off the site next to us we're up tell 3am partying REALLY loud, but because they were tent nothing they could do about it and did nothing about it. Second when we booked the site it said we could put one tent up on our site, when we asked where we could put the tent we were first told they that don't allow tents on the rv sites any more do to new management (a lye because the site next to us a rv site had a tent) , the second time when I asked I was told that no we couldn't because the second truck that had the kids that were going to sleep in the tent did not arrive with us. Third the fishing ponds that they have listed that you can fish at you can't anymore and they are growing leeches. Would not recommend this place. read more

This RV Park is in a beautiful and convenient location to YNP. A fun park for the kids with a small creek running on property that kept my kids busy and out of the trailer. My only complaint is not against the RV Park but against other guests who don't know how to make a proper fire. A camp fire isn't supposed to be smoky. You literally ruin an RV Park and guest experience when you burn wet wood, greens and pine cones. There were about 4 idiots every evening making fires that smoked every one out. Make a hot fire with dried wood and you will have very little smoke. read more

The great thing about this park is the location to the west gate entrance of Yellowstone- about 20 minutes. The staff was pretty funny, giving some jabs about all the new trailer owners during Covid. The park has little amenities, which is fine. They did have small fishing ponds with no fish, but our son was happy to have somewhere to cast his pole. read more

We stayed here in a tent for 1 night and it was 1 night too long! Fist of all their price for a tent was outrageous (twice as much as we paid in Ennis MT). Then they added an additional $17 for a second car for a total of $60! No grassy areas for your tent just dirt areas ( and not even close to being a flat area). Then we find out that there is no hot water in the shower/bathroom facilities on our side of the park! And to make it worse they locked the bathrooms that had the showers in them so you couldn't even use the toilets in those rooms! That left 4 bathrooms for over 100 camping spots which made no since at all! And last, The WiFi also didn't work while we were there. No break on the price, not even a free bundle of firewood (6$ for 6 pieces)! Oh and we had bears in the campground! There's much better places to pitch a tent! read more

Just to be clear, this is the KOA next to the Super 8 Motel. Why KOA would have another KOA just a mile away is beyond me. Anyway, this place is great. It's a very clean, well run park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a nice little play ground for the kids, a dog park area so the dog can run off leash and the general store is well stocked. We were there during the height of the season so the toilets and showers were being used constantly and it showed, but the next morning they had been cleaned up. read more

Rudest RV park ever for top $! The lady from "Chicago" was the worst! Her behavior was uncalled for and she will ruin that campgrounds. We booked our trip 6months prior because of traveling with friends. We requested and they confirmed back that we would be side by side when we booked. That didn't happen and they were not even sorry about their mistake. I will never stay here again when we return. We had such a pleasant experience staying here and got to talk with a couple of the employees. A few miles out of town with wonderful areas to walk dogs, a beautiful creek and pond and the nicest people! Wide spaces and fire pits at each site. They even have fresh pizza cooked to order. This was our second time here and we'll be back next year!! read more

Tent camped. Everything I needed and site was advertised. Though I wish there was a bit more privacy between the camp sites. A hedge or something. Bathrooms.... THIS was the reason why canceled my reservation with in the Yellowstone National Park after one night night in the park and made reservations for the last nights at this koa. The bathrooms are pretty clean, we'll lit, warm. And can do all your tasks behind one locked door. Each shower has its own locked room with its own toilet and sink. Not far from tent row. If I go back to Yellowstone, I'm staying here, worth the traffic getting in and out the park. Oh yeah, you get 4G! Close enough to town! read more

It's a great campground by the Yellowstone Park. We couldn't find and spots available inside the park and left it through the West Gate, drove only 10-15 minutes and found a really cool park. They're open until 10pm, answer phone calls and are very polite and friendly. As I said, we came in late, but the stuff were still able to accommodate us and get us a big place with enough space for three cars. The Showers and restrooms are amazing! Hot showers and flushing toilets 24/7 is a luxury for travelers. Also there's a small store at the entrance, where you can get a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. If you are looking for a good location, great staff, and some amazing facilities than this is the KOA for you! Don't be confused there are two local KOA's so make sure you target Mountainside when planning your trip to West Yellowstone. This campsite offered a well appointed convenience store, fresh pizza, playground for kids, doggy park, fire pits, well appointed laundry room, and stream flowing along the camp boundary. But most importantly let's talk heated floors! They have two new buildings that offer individual private bathroom/showers with HEATED floors - WOW! We are traveling in a 37' RV and even I took advantage during my stay to pamper myself with this luxury. This KOA can certainly accommodate larger rigs and campers too! Close to the town of West Yellowstone without being too close AND a great place to stay while visiting the west side of the park. My review would not be complete without a HUGE shout-out to the staff of this park. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, their staff seals the deal. These people are inflexible and full of crap. We were checked in and needed a couple More nights, and they assured us we could move first thing in the morning. When the time came, they said it wasn't possible to move until much later. Will NEVER stay here again. I have always had good luck at KOAs elsewhere. This one at mountainside sucks! read more

June 2021 visit. Our 3 pull throughs advertised as level and gravel. Not. RV spot old and covered with earth and grass although I think there was gravel 1 or 2 inches down. Some rain and snow during the 6 day visit. All 3 of us required 4WD to pull our 5th wheels up out of the mud on departure. Like most KOA's I've stayed at this one is getting old. Some of the facilities were closed. Like all KOA's it felt safe. It is close to Yellowstone NP west entrance. Hence the cost of nearly $100 per night, more without our discount. Otherwise I would consider it $30 / night camp site. read more

I'll preface my review with the fact that I'm not a fan of KOAs at all. I prefer backcountry camping with no neighbors. We decided on this KOA because even though I'm not a fan, my kids are. Having said all that, this KOA was pleasantly surprising. We had a tent site along the tree line which provided some nice shade and it wasn't too far from the bathrooms which were heated and clean. I would definitely stay here again, and hope to on our next trip to Yellowstone. The pizza inside the general store was very good, and the general store was well stocked with amenities. The gift shop also has the best huckleberry licorice. We definitely enjoyed our stay. read more

When we checked in our key didn't work to our cabin, and after having the staff come out to try helping us, they found a problem with the locking mechanism, and ended up moving us to a deluxe cabin! Which was really nice! That made our stay really nice. Great showers, each one is individual. All have their own sink, toilet and shower, with heated floors. read more

They have expanded their tent camping to an area that does not have shade and trees. This is from our reservation. No Hookups Big grassy sites perfect for stretching out that tent for a good night sleep. Plenty of trees and shade and very close to the restrooms and showers. All sites have tables and fire rings. We had no shade during the day. Also due to the additional tent sites, the restroom and shower facilities are not adequate unless you want to stand in line. We left 2 days early as it was ridiculous. read more

I just spoke with two different women on the phone that work for this KOA. The first one I spoke to was not super helpful or friendly. The second one I spoke to was very rude to me and to my husband. Were told they only had only one spot available for one night when we made reservations. However I noticed there were several open the whole night. Tent sites were rite next to each other with wood poles separating sites, which made me feel like cattle. No water near sites, and far from bathroom. Fire pit was downright dangerous as all it was was a grate on-top of grass, & no fire ring. Only positive was individual shower/bathrooms. Price for this site was 45$ for one night without electricity! I'll pass on this place next time. read more

This place is a dump. We are staying here right now in site #65. There are much nicer spaces that are appropriately sized for our big rig but they won't allow us to move because someone "might" have requested the spot. It is dusty and we are wedged in a super tight spot with a real sub-par fire pit. Find a nicer place where they will actually care. read more

We have reasonable expectations for a campsite... sort of level (this was not).. friendly camp hosts (1 out of 5 were friendly), free of dog poop (not), a decently supplied general store, amenities as described (not even close) and clean showers (yes they were clean). This was a very disappointing stay considering we were here for a week and paid for a "premium" site. It will be tough for me to recommend a KOA again. read more

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE is the ONLY way to describe the owner of this KOA!!! Pulled into our site only to discover the previous campers were broken down and couldn't pull out of the site. Since we arrived with plenty of time in the day to get some park time in, we first offered assistance to the campers with their rig (husband is a mechanic), then had to switch on our propane to run our refrigerator to keep our stuff cold. (We were told it could be hours before these folks were going to get towed out of the spot and of course, no other hookups were available.) Irritated at the situation, we left and came back shortly after dark. The spot was finally cleared and we were able to pull in and hook up, in the dark no less! We stayed two nights there. The bathrooms/showers were locked early with nobody around to unlock them. That was extremely frustrating!! Our site was also a complete mud pit after it rained. Upon checking out, we asked to speak to the owner about possibly topping off our propane tank since we had to use it while the broken down rig sat in the spot we paid for. He pretty much laughed in our face and looked at us like we were crazy. This guy only has $$$ on his mind, that's it! ZERO customer service and was a complete asshole about it! This is a very nice destination campground. There are long and wide pull-through sites. Tent camping is also provided. There is a nice souvenir store and pizza restaurant. There is a lot of staff and each one of them were very helpful and friendly. The campground is kept very clean. There is a creek that runs through the campground. There are fire rings at each site. The shower houses are very comfortable. There are family style shower rooms that are self-contained with toilet, sink, shower, and dressing area. The laundry facilities were also nice. There are not many of the typical amenities such as horseshoes or pool. There was a nice playground for the kids. Regardless of the lack of some amenities, the campground was very relaxing. It gave the feeling of open air camping. We would definitely select this campground again. read more

Mike the owner was nice and accommodating- and the rest of the staff provided quick, friendly service. Stayed in campsite #191 which is creek side, tree covered, and peaceful. This site is also close to the bathrooms which were always clean. When we arrived at our site, there was no fire pit or picnic table, but the staff quickly provided both for our use. The delineation between the campsites is very difficult to understand, and everyone sets up camp wherever there is room. Boundaries of the campsites are not enforced. Overall the campsite met our needs. read more

Great experience at this Koa. attempted to stay at the one a mile closer to the park, but we were very happy with this park. Mostly due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. stayed for one week and it was a great place for a base camp. Bathroom/laundry facilities were the cleanest we had on our 2.5 week trek. Highly recommend this site. Easy access and level sites are also a plus. read more

The Mountainside KOA was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a campground! We were traveling with some friends and they arrived a few minutes before us, as they pulled into their site they noticed there wasn't a site available for us as we requested. When we arrived I went to the office to check in and as I was waiting my turn there were two women in front of me complaining that they requested sites next to each other, even had their confirmation emails and they were actually placed on opposite ends of the campgrounds! I don't know if their situation was ever resolved, but the women in the office were so rude when I was asking what happened that we couldn't be next to each other. The KOA employee also snidely said to me "your friends have been given a choice of what they can do, it's their decision" not one time did the words "I'm sorry, or I apologize" come out of anyone's mouths! Then a few days later I walked up to the office and there was a different lady at the desk she asked what I needed and I kindly asked for a roll of quarters. Saying nothing she opened the cash drawer slammed the roll of quarters on the counter and didn't look up while grabbing my ten dollars and slamming the register drawer shut! NEVER will I stay at this KOA again! We stayed at the KOA a mile up the road a few years earlier and they were amazing, you know...they way it's supposed to be! Would like to give 0 stars but it won't let me! read more
