Went out for the day on the 18 mile trip and had a great time! Our guide, Garrett, was great and we learned a lot about the area and sights along the way. Our group had a six year old and he was so accommodating, taught him the ropes and let him guide us when the water was smooth, he really enjoyed that! We did get some excitement (and a taste of reality); we helped the other raft in our group collect some paddles after "The Boat Eater" got them. Our guides and the safety guide moved into action fast and demonstrated an amazing team effort. The river has some great spots, nothing too extreme, though our Canadian friends may say otherwise and a lot of smooth, easy areas. Lunch was good, just some easy sandwiches and snacks. I liked that wet suits, jackets, and water shoes were included, they definitely came in handy. Pictures are available for a reasonable price. Our family did the lazy river in july around 9 am. The weather was perfect. Our ride was very relaxing and our guide Shannon was amazing. She had alot of neat information during our ride. We also saw a bald eagle and a baby deer. Kids ages 6/8 loved it read more

We've only done whitewater once before and this time did the 18 mile trip (full day) which was really about 3.5 hours in June with the river running quickly. We had six of us ranging from 12-mid 40's. It's definitely exciting with the start being full of excitement right out of the gate then a slower, relaxing float area in the middle at around the 8-10 mile mark. The canyon was as fun as the town, with some added scenery and some interesting and exciting water features. Kelsey was amazing as our "boat guy." Very experienced and made us feel comfortable and safe even as he drove us into some gnarly waves so we could experience the thrill that only whitewater can provide. Very personable with our group and gave a lot of details about the sights and the town, including some of the wildlife on the banks. The only consideration when rafting in Montana in June is to dress appropriately. They have wet suits but it can get a little chilly when it rains. Our guide Jesse was chill and very competent; we had a lot of fun falling INTO the raft during the rapids, and learned some fun facts about the river as we meandered downstream. What a great group of people. They provided wetsuits, footwear, and rain jackets. I recommend wearing bathing suit bottoms and a water resistant top under your wetsuit. We wore thin rain jackets over our wetsuits. The drive to launch was only 5 minutes away. These guys were very knowledgeable about the area and funny. Really enjoyed our float tour for our group of 8. Corra was amazing as a guide, she was very knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. We got to see cool stuff on our trip and the splashes we hit was just enough to get a little wet but not in an uncomfortable way. We had out 18month old with use and 4 yr old who were the youngest and I did feel safe having them with us. Our 2 oldest boys had lots of fun too, so it was good for the whole family. read more

The entire experince is awesome. Our guide was Kami, she was super personable and confident in leading our group through an increadible rafting experience. As this was my first time rafting, I was a bit nervous in the beginning but after getting out on the water my nervousness quickly dissipated. YRC price includes: rafting with a guide, wet suit, life jacket, helmet, transportation to and form the rafting site. Tips: If you chose not to wear a wet suite be sure to wear dri-fit clothing. No cotton. Otherwise use a wetsuite like I did, it will help with keeping you warm. They have changing rooms, you can change there then put your clothes in your car. They will hold your keys. I wore a hat under my helmet with sunglasses, I was worried I'd lose my sun glasses but that wasnt a problem. Lastly, bring money for tipping. Some of the guides use venmo, but some don't and a tip is well deserved! read more

The rafting trip was great. We had Summer and Abby. They were knowledgable and fun. If it was just rafting I would have given five stars. But we did the "Float and ride", meaning the second half was with horseback riding. The horseback riding staff was indifferent to the desires of parents to ride next to their children. I was nearly last in a group of 25 riders, and my son was second. I would say the majority of riders in this hourlong trek were under 10, and at least three were six or under. They were supposed to be guiding the horses of those under 6. My horse bit at the owner, Amy's horse, both our horses bucked, as did the little boy's who Amy was leading. He fell hard on a rock. No helmets were required for any riders, including these very young children. It was very traumatic, which is a shame, because the views were breathtaking. read more

Guide threw our 12 yo son off the raft into the river without consent July 29, 2021, 12:30pm trip. Female guide from California tossed our 12 yo son into the river and dunked him. He, nor we ever said it was ok to toss him over. Our 13yo went in to swim and was pulled our by others in the raft and he landed on two paddels ackwardly, but not hurt.Some rapids, good for families. After the river we were last to get into the bus and had to step on paddles that were placed in the asile, to get into the last two rows od seats. Could have slipped or tripped on all those paddles. I found a deal on Groupon advertising a 2 hour horseback ride and 2 hour raft trip with lunch included for $88. As I began to book my trip I notice a disclaimer that said to confirm dates I should contact the company. When I called to confirm the dates I was told they would not honor the Groupon because the price was incorrect. In my opinion that is not my fault and they should honor the advertised price. Their issue is with Groupon not the customer. Seems like they either have poor customer service, or they ask you to call thinking they can get you to pay full price. The gentleman I spoke with was very abrupt and claimed he didnt know who put the deal on Groupon but it wasnt him. We decided to use a different company, even though it was more expensive. read more

While we enjoyed the trip there were several things that did disappoint. 1. There website says they take pictures along the route, were informed afterward that that didn't happen. 2. Signed up for the "canyon trip" which is described as class 2 and 3 rapids, I've been paddling longer than I care to admit and frankly there was one spot that might be a high 2, but there were no 3s. 3. Billed as a 2 hour trip, if you include the hour spent on the shuttle it was, but honestly an hour on the river. The guide was good, though 30 minutes late, the equipment was better than expected and the bus was clean. We just moved to Livingston, so river trips are in our future, with visiting friends and family. Important lesson learned was to ask for specific launch points and take outs. read more

My family and I went on a 1/2 day rafting excursion down the Yellowstone River with this company and I have not one bad thing to say or to complain about. Since we walked in the door, everyone was super helpful and informative and had smiles on their faces. I could tell this was going to be fun! Our raft guide, Joe, was great! Explained how everything would go down, how to paddle properly, what might happen and how to deal with different situations in a very calm and clear manner. Out on the water, he was happy to answer any questions, tell us fun stories and facts of the area and everything we needed to know about conquering the rapids. We stopped half way for lunch that they had set up for us at a picnic table by the river which was the perfect pit stop. Overall this was an amazing experience from start to finish-the rapids were a thrill and the company is top notch and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone!!! The original rafting company at Yellowstone. LOVED them! Our guide was Chris, who is working on his master's in snow science. Being from North Carolina, it was a treat to learn about something we had never encountered. He knew a ton about the geology of the area which was great for a bunch of geeks like us. The trip was fantastic for us-we had my parents and children-so senior citizens and grade school alike did well-just enough white water to be interesting and not scary. I can't believe I am the first reviewer for Yellowstone Raft Company. We did a full day rafting at July 23 2013. Great place if you want to get wet in a hot day. Very friendly people who work there. Our guild is Mr. Parker, he is not a very chatty person but he did answers all of my 3 kids questions, and we did have lots of questions. Mr. Parker has eagle eyes, he spotted many animals and birds for us. I wish the water can be rougher, but this is out of everyone's control. Overall, this is a highlight of our Yellowstone trip. the 8mile "whitewater" rafting was more of 8 mile scenic float trip so don't expect an adrenaline rush. However My wife and daughter had a great time hence the 3 stars. My pet peeve and main reason for the two star reduction... we brought our own class III life jackets which are rated for whitewater and we're not allowed to use them, instead we were forced to wear their life jackets that smelled heavily like pee and thoroughly grossed me out. Not the first time I've experienced this issue on a guided trip hence why we dragged our life jackets thousands of miles with us for the occasion. Not cool people! I must say though Blake our raft guide was amazing, funny, and knowledgeable. Thank you Blake for making this suck less despite my stomach turning from the odor. read more

It was raining the day of our trip, and the staff was wonderful to work with us. They said if we wanted to go out, that was fine, but if we wanted to wait, we could be rescheduled. We did reschedule for the next morning, and had sunshine and no clouds. Derek was a good guide and we enjoyed our scenic ride. If you are looking for your first raft ride, this is the one to select!
