I came during lunchtime and all the seats were filled! Love to see it! I got the Grilled Unagi Taco Musubi and the Crispy Soft Shell Crab musubi! They were made fresh to order and came out piping hot. Both of them were delicious, but the taco musubi was my favorite! The unagi was soft and the sweet sauce on top complemented the unagi. The shop itself is kind of small, and the person who helped me was nice to answer any questions I may have about the menu. I ordered a short rib taco musubi and the soft shell crab musubi. I also added a couple more spam musubis to my order. My kids loved their spam musubis (minus the added egg which I easily took out) and finished it! I really liked the soft shell crab musubi, and enjoyed dipping it with the accompanied sauce that tasted like ponzu. The short rib taco musubi was interesting- basically short rib pieces of meat sandwiched between two layers of seaweed in the form of a taco shell, and topped with some fried onion. The taco shell was crunchy and light and the short rib pieces were generous, tender and so flavorful! Definitely the highlight of the dish was the short rib pieces. I would say that my only concern with that was it was very difficult to eat together and we resorted to just mainly picking out the meat from the taco. Service was friendly and I loved the variety on the menu. Prices were decent for what you get. Definitely a place to check out if you're a musubi fan! But they are most famous for their musing tacos. There's a water station with all the utensils and napkins. There's a 50 cents charge for extra sauce. Owner guarantee's their food is made freshly with quality ingredients. Order take out is given a door dash bag which can also be order through door dash. Order the spicy crab ($5) and spam musubi ($3) and wagyu veta ($11). Such a huge difference in texture and flavor on the musubi's. Their whole menu is amazing and I was excited to see a couple new delicious-sounding items available: short ribs musubi taco and the soft shell crab musubi. I also picked up: a Wagyu/feta taco, an unagi taco, spam & egg musubi and a crab musubi ~ a feast!! The "extras" I ordered have been standard favorites for a while. The tacos as packed with protein and are downright crave-worthy!! The musubis always hit the spot (if you're feeling feisty, the spicy crab musubi has quite a kick!). The new menu items did not disappoint and have earned spots on our standard favorites for future visits. My goodness, the short ribs on the taco were not skimped on and the flavor, oh the flavor....SO good! The soft shell crab musubi was the bougie one in the box. I had an amazing experience trying Musubi Square. I am very thankful for the invite! The menu was extensive with some unique offering like the taco musubi. For the experience, I got to choose the taco musubi and a musibi. I ended going for the Grilled unagi taco musubi and Cispy soft shell crab musubi. Grilled unagi taco musubi- It had unagi, crab, cilantro-cucumber pickled, sesame seeds and rice. This was delicious although I would prefer less of the eel sauce on top. Musubi Square is tucked into an older strip mall, so parking is limited and it's easy to drive past. Fortunately, the restaurant's dark new sign makes it much easier to spot. Inside, the space is compact, with only five tables. Ventilation is limited, so a fan is used to help circulate the air. :) The restroom is for customers only, and you'll need to ask the owner for the access code. There's also just one cook, so during my visit every table was occupied, and my order took a little over 15 minutes to prepare so be patient. The owner is shy but very nice. The musubi taco is one of the most unique items on the menu. The uniqueness is the shell is a thick, crispy fried seaweed wrap. The toppings are variety of creative fusion meats or crunchy fried seafood. I really enjoyed the seaweed shell. The fried calamari version, however, was a bit too rich for my taste and gave me heartburn afterward. :( The crunchy shrimp musubi was the standout and very generous in size so would explain why each one cost about $10 -- so just one made for a satisfying meal but I got myself two additional ones to support the shop! I love Musubi Square and was happy to see them as part of a Yelp elite event! Came by on a Friday afternoon and for the yuzu pork taco musubi (my personal fave) and a spam musubi. Wait was about 15 minutes so I walked over to the plaza next door to grab a drink from Da Vien. I always think the musubi options are solid here and love that everything is made to order. I actually have been wanting to try this place since they opened so I was very appreciative I got in this Elite Experience. Musubi specalizes in all things musubi but they are popular for their special one of a kind musubi tacos. This is what I have been wanting to check out. We were able to get any regular musubi and taco on the menu. I had to try their soft shell crab musubi and the unagi (eel) taco musubi. The soft shell crab musubi came in a box of two large ones with some ponzu tasting sauce. It was flavorful and I enjoyed it had some imitation crab in there as well. It is good if you are a crab fan. But the unagi taco musubi was my absolute favorite. It had a large flavorful eel on top on some yummy rice wrapped in a super crispy seaweed taco shell. I don't know how they did it but the crispy texture of the seaweed with the soft unagi was perfection. I was so glad I got it and one taco was quite large and filling. Pricing is normally very affordable and I love they have many options including no meat ones. The inside is small and casual but it is clean with lots of tables and chairs. The people behind the counter was really nice. I came during a busy time for lunch and was told it would be a 15 minute wait warning which was nice. I had been to Musubi Square once before and I tend to forget about it, so I was happy to get into this event to try some more items. We were allowed one musubi and one taco musubi, which I didn't remember existing. I like that this place offers so many protein options and not just your standard spam musubi. I originally went planning on getting crab for my musubi, but I wanted to get a little more value since it was free and opted for the soft shell crab. Ideally I should have done the same thing with the taco musubi by getting the short rib or the wagyu, but I was curious about the calamari with yuzu aioli. Unfortunately, I couldn't get there until the prime of lunch time so it was very full inside and they were fulfilling many door dash orders as well. I happened to find a one seater and decided to eat there. I observed other Yelpers claiming their deals as well after me. Both items were quite tasty. I was especially impressed with the taco musubi because it was laid out like a taco, it was full of calamari, and the shell was crispy. I will definitely have to come back more to try more or all of their options at some point. The short rib is labeled as best on their menu along with a few others. I think Wagyu was one of them. It had less rice than typical musubi which was a plus for me. The bbq rib taco musubi had bigger portions than I expected and the pictures really don't do it justice. First and foremost, thank you Hayley and Musubi Square! It's the first time I've heard of this spot & it was yummy! Upon entering, the gentlemen greeted me and was quite friendly & helped me decide which taco/musubi to choose. Quite frankly, they all sounded great! I'm a huge fan of eel so I decided on the eel taco and crab musubi. I've never had anything quite like it before. Can I just say the taco was huge!?! I did NOT expect it to be that size. The crab musubi was also good, but the taco really did something for me. It was SO flavorful! There's decent amount of parking and seats. It was a bit hot in the shop and the decor could use a bit of work, overall I enjoyed the visit and I cannot wait to go back and try more flavors. They are all reasonably priced as well! read more

I visited around 3pm on Monday and it was pretty empty inside. It has a very bright interior with lots of seating. I walked right up to the counter to order and the lady who helped me was nice. It took about 10 minutes for my order, which was the yuzu pork taco musubi and the crunchy shrimp musubi. I really enjoyed both of these. Very unique compared to other spots like it around OC. Each musubi was really flavorful and they did not skimp with the portions. My only gripe is that it is a bit pricey for a snack/small bite. Worth it nonetheless, and I would definitely come back. What a hidden gem! It's located in a small plaza and I never would've stumbled on this spot so thank you Yelp OC and Haley! It's a small store with only a handful of tables. There was no AC so it felt a bit stuffy. The worker was sweet. They have drinks for purchase, sauce for purchase, and self-serve water and utensils on the side. I tried the short rib taco which was absolutely delicious! I loved the meat since it was juicy and tender. The taco shell which seems like fried seaweed was a nice crunchy texture. The first time I had Musubi in Hawaii I didn't think anywhere else could get it better than there. The way the Spam and Rice landed on the tongue you could tell the folks at that place really took pride in their work. Even Toby said it was one of the best examples of the dish she'd ever had, and she has an even more discerning tongue than I do. That's why it was a little weird to see musubi being done with softshell crab, bulgogi, and shrimp at Musibi Square. I didn't even know you could do it with anything else but spam. But I have to admit the bulgogi version kicked ass. Every bite was enjoyable. And I daresay the Korean BBQ Short Rib Taco Musubi was even better. It really was like the best of both worlds as the Kalbi just melded well with the crispy seaweed and rice. I think my complaint was the service at the event, The clerk looked put out I was there as a Yelp Elite and just lacked sunniness that you're used to getting from the staff at a restaurant. Also, the wait for my food was more like a sitdown restaurant than a fast casual joint as this place is. Lastly, I had my usual pet peeve of having to buy cans and bottles of soda with my meal over a proper fountain drink with refills rested its ugly head. The ambiance was good. It was on the small side for a dining area, but not to point I felt packed in with the tables next to me. I think it would've been less noticeable if the wait for the food wasn't so long and some of the to-go order parties could be sent away in a timely fashion. All in all, the food at this experience was fantastic. 100, for sure. The service was less so, but I'd come back if I had a craving for this top-tier musubi again. read more

A hidden gem! I've never had such a fresh and delicious-tasting musubi in my life. The flavors were insane, and I finished everything in less than 5 minutes. I got the miso salmon musubi and the kbbq short rib musubi taco. They also serve different sauces for an extra charge. The miso salmon musubi was flavorful, but it did not hold together well. I didn't know what to expect, but it was really good! The outside was very crunchy and it's a big taco which is why it can range from $9-$12. Came in to Musubi square in the evening to pick up the Musubi's to try for the Yelp elite event. The location was a little bit weird, tucked away in a corner of a very small strip mall. The inside was small but fitting for a place like this with quick bites. The cashier got me checked off from the Yelp Elite list, and when ordering I was informed that they had run out of short rib. I assume that's one of their more popular items so if that's something you're interested in, I'd go earlier than later. I ended up going for the yuzu pork rib taco and miso salmon Musubi. In the time I was there, there was around 3-4 other people ordering or who had ordered. It did end up taking a surprising amount of time for what I expected, but I eventually got my food. By the time I opened it, the box was quite messy. There was some sort of sauce all over the food - I'm not sure whether it was meant for the taco or the Musubi, but it kind of started to make things a bit soggy from the get go, which would cause issues while eating. I'm not sure what exactly it was because there was also sauce in a side container. Upon trying both, I was actually surprised by how good the flavors were. The yuzu pork had a strong citrusy and aromatic flavor, which was balanced nicely by the cabbage. The miso salmon was seasoned lightly, but the salmon was cooked surprisingly perfect. My one main issue with both was the structural integrity. I'm sure the sauce and to go container had some part in this, but I also really only walked it out to my car and then opened the box. They both fell apart pretty much as soon as I started eating them, and both had filling completely falling out - which may also speak to how generous they are with the meat portions, especially on the taco. It wasn't a big issue, I just personally would prefer a form factor that makes it a bit easier to eat, though I understand the appeal of the taco and stuff like that. Let me just start by saying I was pleasantly surprised with the portion size of the musubi and taco, the protein quantity, and taste. It is well lit, clean with white train-station backsplash tiles, small tables, and yellow chairs. The only unfortunate thing was that their AC is not working so it was a bit hot to dine in. The 2 small fan provided were not suffice for people to stay and linger. I ordered: 1) Spam Trio Musubi - comes with 3 different flavor of musubi: regular, jalapeño, and Gochujang flavor musubi. (8/10) 2) Korean BBQ Short Ribs Taco Musubi - stuffed with loaded meat, rice, seasoned with crispy onion, wrapped in crispy fried seaweed wrap. (9/10) 3) Unagi (Eel) rice bowl - comes with rice and 2 pcs unagi and drizzled with its flavorful sauce. The other list on the menu looks delicious and wouldn't mind coming back here to try them all. Man where do I even start. This place is THE definition of hole in the wall but man is this place bomb. The pricing, portions, flavors, and textural variations contributed to such a great experience that my group and I debated ordering seconds. My boyfriend and I got the Musubi flight, wagyu feta taco, and soft shell crab musubis-- all were DELICIOUS and unexpectedly huge in portions, especially the taco. I've never had soft shell crab before and I really liked it in the musubi although I will mention that it was mixed in with imitation crab as well, so I'm not sure if that counts as the "full experience" for whatever that means. Everything was delicious though, especially the green crema that was on the jalapeno musubi. I'd suggest ordering a separate side of that because it's a pretty versatile sauce that goes good on anything. Seating is pretty small and so is their parking lot, but it'd make great picnic or eat-in-your-car food if needed. The seaweed-tempura taco shell holds up surprisingly well after sitting for a while and doesn't get soggy. read more

I've been wanting to try Musubi Square so this was the perfect opportunity for me! So thankful for the experience. I started with the wagyu feta taco, which had a fabulous nori shell. I was worried this would become soggy or oily from the frying but it held wonderfully with a great bite to it even after a 20min drive home. The wagyu itself was cooked well, but the seasoning was quite interesting for a musubi- tasted almost like taco seasoning? Still good with a generous portion of meat falling out of the taco. The soft shell crab musubi also had a bite to it from the fried crab, but this one actually felt a little heavier. It was rolled with rice and imitation crab meat, but the nori wrap did fall apart more easier since it sat for 20 minutes on the way home. I would probably opt for a different musubi next time but the soft shell crab on its own was still good. read more

Yum! I love musubis, so when I saw I got into this event I was excited. I ordered the spam musubi, miso salmon musubi, and Korean bbq short rib taco musubi. They were all so delicious and flavorful. The spam musubi was the basic, but it was great with egg. I wasn't sure if I made the right choice when ordering the miso salmon musubi but it was so freaking good! Would definitely order it again. The Korean bbq short rib taco musubi had ample pieces of meat and I love the fried onion on top. Everything was great and I would definitely come again. Service was quick and easy. You grab your own utensils and napkins and water, but he was efficient and quick when I mentioned I was part of the Yelp Event. He also saw I was putting it in my lunch bag to take the rest to work and offered a bag - I appreciate the proactive service and thoughtful gesture! Ambiance is very casual. The musubis here are some of the best I've had. I got the miso salmon and the Korean bbq short rib and both were so good. They're made fresh on the spot so there was a bit of a wait but I would definitely say it's worth it. The service was great he explained the popular items and there was plenty of parking in the parking lot. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area. read more

I stopped by here around 6:30pm on a Saturday. Wasn't busy at all. There's a good amount of parking in the front. It was directly behind the ARCO gas station. When I came in, they didn't have any sign of the Yelp Elite Event. They might've lost the list. The inside is modern and clean with about 6 tables of seating. I ordered the KBBQ short rib taco musubi and a miso salmon musubi. They sound delicious, and simple to make. They use big pieces of short rib! And a nice piece of salmon. It's delicious! The ratio of meat to rice is fair! It smells really good too! Big thank you to Hayley and Yelp team for putting together this event! I am so appreciative for trying a new spot in Anaheim! read more

Thanks for the opportunity to try their products! I got the miso salmon musubi and unagi musubi taco. The miso salmon musubi also had some crab meat in it and it was pretty tasty. My toddler also enjoyed it! The unagi taco musubi was also really good! It had unagi, crab meat, and some cucumber with rice in a seaweed taco shell. I really enjoyed this concept because it mixed different flavors and textures really well! I ended up bringing my taco home and it was still crunchy and tasty after a 20 minute drive home. The wait wasn't terrible and the restaurant was a little busy so it was understandable. They don't have AC though so it can get warm especially in a hot summer day. read more

Came in on Friday afternoon and there was one party ahead of me, but some orders for takeout pickup. If I were to come back, I would try to place my order ahead of time! The space is on the smaller side with about five tables, although some were a bit dirty. The owner at the register was very kind and patient, and there were two cooks working. I ordered the short rib taco, the yuzu pork taco, and the bulgogi spam musubi. My order took about 25 minutes to come out. I was honestly shocked at the quality of their meat and flavor. Wow if I didn't hear about this place from Yelp, I don't think I would ever have realized it existed. It's in a strip mall of other businesses. Kind of secluded so I'm glad they are promoting their business through Yelp! It's also really close by my place so I will be back as a returning customer. I got the Korean BBQ short rib tacos and miso salmon musubi. The short ribs were tender and smoky. I didn't think seaweed can be made as a taco shell but it works! The crispy onions added a good texture and flavor. The sauce on the side was a good way to cut the oil with a bit of acidity. The miso salmon musubi was also good, but I didn't taste much of miso flavor. I still gobbled it down. Thank you to Hayley, Musubi Square, and Yelp for the invite. Such a hidden gem! Thank you so much for hosting this event. The cashier Catalina was so kinda and polite! I didn't know this place has been open for 3 years already. It definitely deserves all the hype. I got the Spam Musubi Trio (regular, jalapeño, gochujung) and the Korean BBQ spare rib taco. Everything was so DELICIOUS, I will be coming back!! It was quite busy on a Thursday night, but I could tell they had tons of orders to fulfill so no biggie!! Parking was easy and tons of good vibes. This is a great Musubi spot and looking forward to trying the spicy crab and miso salmon Musubi!! read more
