These days, I like to stay local! I've seen this small hair salon driving by and I needed a haircut so I called them up for a same day appt. I have a thick hair and just wanted a simple bob. Yan cut my hair within minutes. I loved the result! She chopped off probably 50% of my hair, I feel.so much lighter and my hair is so.much neater! Do not appreciate paying & tipping a person who I let my disabled partner go to & she has for the 3rd time now sliced up the back of his neck something fierce. I don't like that he tells her to cut at an angle in the front & she cuts his hair straight across, so it does not grow out in the way he desires. He goes home & washes it & it looks squared out. Exact opposite of what he states. She always says she understands what he is saying & cuts him off as well. NOT COOL. Third time is the charm & we will not be back. Yen can cut. Cut the back of your neck. Cut your hair incorrectly, Cut your time in the chair down by a third by cutting you off & not building a relationship. She cannot do a fade either... I guess which is why the back of his neck is throbbing hours after her cut. After he washed it we had to cut it ourselves. Waste of money if I had to do anyway! read more

I doubt that I'll be changing hairdressers to come to Yen's. However, that doesn't mean that it that she does not have a four-star or maybe even a five-star shop. I wanted my hair shampooed, I wasn't able to do it myself because I have a cast on my hand and I didn't want to ask S. The shampoo was great. Yen covered my hair with suds and massaged my scalp for quite awhile. I felt very relaxed after the shampoo. Rather than let her just blow dry my hair, I had her style my hair. I told her to style it any way she wanted She doesn't use a flat iron. Reading the Yelp reviews it looks like she cuts a lot of men's hair, perhaps they don't want their their hair flat ironed. I have been going here for years, and I've been very satisfied with every haircut I have ever gotten here. Yen has a lot of regular customers, so it can be a hit or miss of how busy it can be. Even if there is a line of people waiting, it is very much worth the wait as you will consistently get exactly what you want. Saturday afteenoon, I thought there would be a long waiting because I did not make an appointment and I heard this shop had only one person working. Actually there were only two young men and I was the third customer the moment when I walked in. I did not have to wait too long, 15 minutes I thought. Yen took a loo of the photos of hair styles I showed her, and she gave me a few suggestions would work best for my hair type. No fuss, not too much chit-chat (I don't like my hair stylist talk too much, please focus on my hair), no hard selling any hair care products. She just focused on my hair. Little chatting with Yen, and I knew she used to have someone who worked with her but things did not work out and she loss some customers because of that person, she had to start over and now she is less stress working alone. Yen is awesome! Its a not very well known small shop, so its always easy to get an appointment or just walk in. Yen is very sweet, gives quality cuts, and actually listens to what you want. Her prices are unbeatable at around $14/cut. The only downside is she only takes cash but there's an ATM at the gas station across the street!
