The food is AMAZING! I've dined in & ordered online. The ambiance & decor are beautiful & the staff are welcoming & beautiful as well. Be prepared to wait a bit - your food is cooked to order. I've had the (vegan) stewed cabbage more than once - it's wonderfully spicy! I also suggest the salmon & vegetable fried rice. I've also had their red snapper, plantains & Jollof rice & and was not disappointed. My friend and I decided to check them out for happy hour one evening. First I should note, the food is not on hour hour, only the drinks and the drinks are only $3 off. We had questions about the menu but our waitress was the only one on the floor and wasn't that attentive so we went with the safe option. I'll start by simply saying WOW! The decor is thoughtful and well executed. The colors are bold and eye catching. The establishment is neat, clean and inviting. I so look forward to dining in with them soon. This is my second time visiting the Virginia Beach location. The staff at Yendidi are extremely professional, kind and patient. The first time I went i met, who i believe to be the owner, Abina. She was courteous, involved and quite pleasant. She clearly at the tone and standard of customer service. The ladies that manage the front desk, Christy and Kam, are knowledgeable and extremely personable. All while being the epitome of beauty and grace. In fact, Christy recognized my voice over the phone after only meeting me once. Impressed. The service was fast, both when ordering in person as well as over the phone. On to the food. My tastebuds were in heaven!! Both times i got the egusi soup. The egusi with goat/lamb/ cow foot with pounded yam with cabbage was delectable. It was full of flavor. It was spicy while still being enjoyable. This time i still got the egusi soup but with chicken and plantain fufu and cabbage. The cabbage was lightly seasoned with maybe a bit of garlic, salt and pepper. It was so good and i was happy it wasn't over seasoned or soggy. It went so well with the soup. NOW, that egusi soup at Yendidi is something special!!! It smelled so wonderful and was so flavorful with the right amount of spices. The fufu was delicious as well and also really loved the texture. Next time i will order an additional side of fufu, one of each to determine my favorite and because the portion of soup is so generous i find myself running out of fufu. I almost forgot the samosas. I also got them last time. I ate them on the way home and nearly turned my car around to get more. This time I order two helpings. I loved the flaky texture and the filling was so mouthwatering. They were scrumptious and the sauce that came with them , rich and decadent. All and all Yendidi has a forever customer in me. They are ALWAYS going to get my money. The food is delicious. The people are courteous and wait staff doesn't forget you. Had been to one in Norfolk, but apparently is now only take out. Was afraid would lose something another place but didn't miss a beat. Prices and portions are reasonable. Just wish I lived closer. read more

Wanted to love it but even when I said I wanted my dish VERY mild it was still quite spicy for my taste. Great flavor nonetheless, I'll give them that.. the samoas were great with the sauce and the fufu and plantains as well with the waayke were good too. Just wish the goat entree actually had some meat, basically bones and sauce (I mentioned it to the waiter when he asked me how the food was, but he had no response) I do think I will give them another chance one day and order something else read more

We've been wanting to eat here since it opened and I am SO glad we finally made it. This food is comfort, this food is love. We both had peanut butter soup. MY husband with spinach (vegan) and mine with chicken. I had a side of broccoli, he had a side of cabbage and we shared two different types of fufu and a side of Jollof. My Haitian and Malagasy friends growing up always talked about fufu so I'm so glad I finally got to try it and the whole meal was just as comforting as they always made it sound. We also shared Kelewele. That might be in the top 3 things I've ever eaten in my life. I could eat it all day. 1000000/10. Everything was seasoned perfectly. I was greatly impressed by my dining experience at Yendidi. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by friendly staff and beautiful interior design. I ordered the lunch combo with the goat meat and jollof rice and a side of sautéed broccoli. Everything was tastefully flavored. I wish it came with a little more goat meat to complement the rice more adequately, but considering how flavorful the rice is itself, it's not the end of the world. They have an array of options in their menu, including vegan choices. I will have to return to explore their menu further. Definitely try Yendidi out and support this exquisite local business. read more

I don't think this is a place you should come if you're starving! You should come with a great deal of patience. To start it took us 15 minutes for water and another 15 mins to get a cocktail... Watched the waitress clean the table with her hands before she seated us down. She didn't actually wipe it down... First order of appetizers were the wings medium spicy temp...and the patty ... the patty wasn't hot to temperature maybe it's not supposed to be and the wings were actually really tasty not as crispy but seasoning was there. The drink from the bar was very thick, not sure what juices they use but it was very thick for my liking...I wouldn't suggest the cocktails at all!!!! Entree was just ok and the fried rice was delicious! Not sure if I will return...not worth it unless you have 2-3 hours for dinner read more

This location has no online menu and there's nothing on the norfolk website that lets you know whats not on the menu. i ordered a burrito. it only came with rice and beans. The food was good. The goat was a bit tough but still very good. The wings are great! The happy hour is only for a few dollars off the food not drinks which I found very weird. When I inquired, I was told they want the focus on the food. Should probably just say food specials between 4-8. Using the term happy hour is a bit deceptive. The staff was friendly enough but extremely slow. We sat at the bar a good 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. Appetizer came out after my meal almost finished. Even when my meal was served , I had to wait 10 minutes for silverware. I had to ask three different people. I originally asked who I assumed was the manager and she just walked back over to the front desk (also the same person who basically said happy hour doesn't refer to drinks). The chocolate cake was delicious. This place is ok, but not if you have any time restrictions. Be prepared to wait.... If you want happy hour go elsewhere. Also check your ticket. my first taste of Ghanaian food at YENDIDI was like no other. i honestly think nothing could top the food experience here. the chicken suya is my is my favorite dish paired with jollof rice, very quick but very flavorful. also the samosas are my go to appetizer , the flakey crush and perfectly spiced meat compliment each other so well. add in some YENDIDI sauce and the music won't be the only thing that will have you dancing. read more
