First of all, I apologize to the people trying to relax at the massage place next door. I'm pretty sure hearing my screeching is much more relaxing. Go with a large group of friends, it's cheaper! The hourly rate varies by day and spikes on the weekends, but there is also a Saturday happy hour. Sunday night rate was $35 an hour for a group of 8 people, and we stayed there for 2.5 hours. Split it among 8 people, and you've got a good deal. They have a very high tech karaoke system where you peruse and select the songs through a touch screen that is very easy to use.There are songs in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. I'm not sure if there are Viet songs but it is highly likely. They have recent songs as well as the classics in any genre. You can also adjust the mic volume/music volume through the touch screen panel. They offer snacks, drinks, and alcohol, but at a rather beefed up price. So eat dinner before going here. Service is also good. The girl working there kept checking in once in awhile to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Or maybe it's because our singing was so bad she thought someone was dying. Oh wells. read more

I went to this place with 3 other people to hang out and have a good time. Mind y'all we called in advance to reserve a room and was told to just show up. As we approached the place with appropriate face masks on (bc a sign on the window said masks required) the guy at the door told us that he needs to see a proof of vaccinations from all 4 of us. Who randomly asks for a strangers medical records? Isn't that against the law? And if that was a requirement, why do they not include that on the store policy requirements and post it up like they did with the face mask rules? We were all vaccinated but didn't have the card on our person. Idk what this man was thinking but we walked away and had helped him out by telling him to watch what he asks the customers because this shizzz will not fly with the wrong one. On our way home, we called the manager and asked for the face mask requirements and she said that as long as we have a face mask we're good. I guess the man that was at the door was just annoyed that we showed up and hour and a half before they closed and he just wanted to relax and skate at work. I'm impressed! Cheesy decor with flashing lights and neon colors...but we had a private room and we were happy! The staff was pretty cool & they constantly check on you. Our room had it's own bar & bathroom. Everything was very clean and they provide cups and ice for our drinks. The songs were pretty dated but they have a HUGE selection so you will definitely find something for everyone. My only gripe is it is a bit expensive. read more

So this was the second time we have gone and had a pretty good first experience. 10 per bottle cork fee is a bit high so bring a big bottle. Now this second time was different. The rooms ac was not working. One mic kept on running out battery and it took the workers three times to change the mic for us. And we could only use the monitor for songs rather then both the monitor and manually enter song Ids from the book. And remember to read the bill because gratuity is included even for 3 ppl. One of my favorite karaoke places in Houston! They offer private rooms to sing your heart out! Prices are a little high so go with a large group of friends. My hubby and I are regulars here from attending countless parties to just going as a couple to sing our blues away. They have a large selection of songs from English, Japanese, and Korean. Possibly other languages too but I haven't checked. The rooms are also very spacious and clean. I love that they put new microphone covers after every party since I am a germaphobe. They also serve food and drinks but beware of the prices! It would help to eat before coming here. It is also a byob(for a fee) place as they do not serve alcohol. read more

I've visited Yes KTV a couple of times and I think it's a fun place for a large group of people and there's a good variation of songs to choose from. I also like that it's BYOB and there's a bar area to set up (in the large room). However, some of the equipment is starting to get old and just isn't working like I'm sure it did at its prime. I wish there was an option to change keys or to play new songs through your phone onto the system (the software allows it, however, Yes KTV does not have the wifi to connect so it's a waste). The staff isn't always the most helpful and I was not a huge fan of the security guard who asked us for a donation to his charity at the end. We thought it was funny when he came in a couple of times, however, it felt uncomfortable to be cornered at the end for money (though I think someone in our group ended up donating, which I guess shows that it works for him!) I'll be coming back to Yes KTV for events with friends in the future and you should try them out, but just keep the service expectations low and enjoy singing along to the music! read more

So we came here two Fridays ago because we couldn't find another karaoke place that wasn't packed. The room rental was $35/hr, so it wasn't so bad. We brought two cases of beer (which they will charge a service fee of $18/box) we only opened one, so they charged for one. Song selection was okay, not as much as we're used to. Overall we had a good time, the food took a while to come to the room and it was cold when we got it. The only thing I advise doing is to look over the bill thoroughly. They charged us for the bottle waters we didn't order and we had to check what all of the charges were and when we did the math, the tax didn't add up, so we assumed they included gratuity. They don't write tax or tip on the line item, so you'll have to double check that. All in all... I wouldn't come back unless we really really had to. read more

This was my first karaoke bar so I was very impressed. The venue was pretty clean and very hip although the the counter was a little sticky in the bar area (presumably spilled alcohol from previous crowd). I believe they charge per head, per length of time, and per bottle of alcohol and soda. I'm not sure on the details as I was just a guest but it worked out to about $415 for about 30 people drinking 3 bottles of alcohol and 6 bottles of soda. Make sure whoever walks in actually wants to be there because they count everyone even if you only come in for a few minutes. The staff was friendly but a little strict coming in and out periodically to check on what bottles were present and if we needed refills. I guess that's just part of the business though and contributes to how they keep the venue decently clean. The module for selecting songs was pretty neat and had most of the latest songs including hotline bling, hello, and bad blood. They also had throwback songs from the 80s and 90s as well as Korean, Chinese, and Viet songs. read more

I came to this place with friends to enjoy some karaoke and it was very bad experience. The monitor to choose songs from was acting up and their list is sooooo limited. Not to mention the food was bad and very tasteless. We ordered some drinks that never came and we had to track down the people. And when we were leaving the bill was way almost 200 bucks! The room rent for 2 hours was 80 dollars the rest was on drinks we never received and they charged way too much for the alcohol we brought in. 15 bucks for a bottle over 750ml and 10 bucks for bottles under that volume! They charge a dollar for every beer bottle you open. So needles to say we will never be coming back here again. read more

I've been here for karaoke a few times and it's pretty nice. Can't really speak for their Asian song selection, but their English selection is actually pretty decent. It's nice that a good number of the songs actually have the official music video accompanying them. Mic and song sounds can be easily adjusted (you'd think this would be a staple option everywhere. They do have multiple systems per room which was a bit confusing. Their main catalog of songs that were listed in their binders were on one system, but then some of their newer stuff was only accessible if you switched to the computerized system that wasn't the easiest to navigate. Pricing is not bad. It's done by room size and charged per hour. They have different rates for the weekdays and weekends. We had a mid-size room (fits up to 15 people) for $35/hr on a weekday, but a small-size room on the weekend was for the same rate. Compared to the local karaoke joints I go to that charges by the person per hour, it's a really good rate regardless. They don't serve alcohol here. It's BYOB but there's a corking fee. I believe it was $10 for wine, $15 for liquor, and $1 per beer. They do have bottled water and snacks like popcorn and chips, but I have no idea how they're charged or if they're complimentary. Our last trip was a 2-hour, small-room booking on the weekend with 5 water and a bowl of chips which came out to $90 before tip. I know the room was $70 so some combination of the water, chips, and tax made up the remaining $20. Maybe gratuity was included in that last $20? I didn't read the receipt carefully and tipped on top of the final bill. The rub was that nobody in our room ordered chips; they just brought it in. It may have been complimentary, but I saw it written on the ticket that wasn't itemized, so that might've been a bit shady. read more

Though everyone had a good time (alcohol + Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me = everyone rocking out), the cons of Yes KTV outweighed the pros. The pros: - Yes KTV has private rooms that are decorated better than the standard karaoke place - They have some very current songs (I saw Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" playing in the front area) - It's karaoke. You'll more than likely have a good time. The cons: - You can't bring in your own food; you have to pay for their food. I can't remember what we ordered, but it was expensive, glorified trail mix. - If you choose to bring your own alcohol or sodas, they charge you EXORBITANT corking fees. For example, we tried bringing in our own 2L bottles of soda, and they requested we pay a fee of $8/bottle of soda. - The organization of the binders is poor. Instead of being organized in an easy-to-use manner, you have a few pages labeled updates as of month-year then another few pages labeled updates as of older-month-older-year and so on. And when you have hundreds of pages of songs without being on one single list, you'll be lucky to find the song you're looking for. Remember how I said they had Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" playing in the front? I couldn't find it in any of the binders. - Personal con: they didn't have Boys II Men's "I'll Make Love to You." Sure, it's only one song, but it's a karaoke staple in my eyes. When asked why they didn't have it, the person behind the counter said, "If we don't have it, then we don't know it." I won't go back on my own accord. It's a dressed up karaoke bar, but I don't mind going to some of the less nice places if they're cheaper because a group of people singing plus alcohol is a fun time anywhere. read more

I don't like karaoke. But my friends like it. This is a really nice version of karaoke. Nicely decorated rooms (although fobby modern in an HK kind of way) and a good variety of songs. The only other karaoke places I know in Chinatown are super shady and the American ones don't play up the private rooms the way Yes KTV does. I think the key to liking this place is going with someone who knows someone that works there. Or go there often enough to where they recognize you. I was lucky to be in a group where that was the case. They gave us such good service that they kicked out another group to make room for us. You should reserve your hours ahead of time so that doesn't happen. Right when we got there, the people working there said that we couldn't bring outside drinks. We were bummed but then they discreetly said that as long as we kept them out of plain view, we were okay. We were in the really large room which was pretty nice and spacious. There was a wet bar, a personal restroom, a long stretch of couches and nice lighting. The flat screen TV was big enough to see from pretty much any part of the room and they had this mini stage in the corner with a computer screen where you could sing. The wireless mics were pretty good quality -- one was running out of batteries but it was no big deal. The R&B songs are kind of messed up on their system, a lot of times they show the lyrics of the background vocals instead of the main singers which can throw you off. Oh and while you sing, you can order drinks and appetizers. It's nice how you can choose from Chinese and English songs -- from what I could tell, they try to update their song database pretty frequently. It was annoying that they were on two different systems though -- it wasn't fun toggling between the two. Overall it was a pretty good karaoke experience. The private rooms are great for a party or get together. It's not cheap though... I was kind of shocked at the prices, but then again, I'm not a usual karaoker. read more

Ok, so overall a fun place. I've had a few issues with service though. The good: super fun place with personal rooms for karaoke, and a good song list. The bad: staff can be unhelpful, aggressive, and rude. We ordered fries once, and they were gross- cold and soggy. When I complained I got some excuse about how they come from the next restaurant over. I had to repeatedly ask for a new order, and negotiate with them to get a new batch of hot fries. The server didn't want to give us a new batch. It was very weird. In the end I had to ask him to take a fry and see how cold it was, and asked him if he would eat cold gross fries like that. The fees can get quite expensive, if you don't monitor your expectations. In the end, I will go back, but only because the rooms and song list are really good. read more

I had my very first real ktv experience here a few weekends ago for a friend's birthday. We had a reservation for 10:30 but were asked to come in earlier because they had an opening. The problem was that we were at Star downstairs. Some people had just received their drinks and had to finish them before we went upstairs because of the no beverages but alcohol policy. We ended up making it in at 10:15 and were set up in the small room. My more experienced Houston KTV companions stated that Yes had a wider selection of songs than comparable establishments. I was quite surprised at how wide their selection was including a few pages devoted to "Hawaiian Favorites". We mostly stuck with English songs, but we also switched a few times to the Mandarin machine. I was amused by the really random 80s songs that I would have never expected an Asian KTV place to have. Yes, I did a terrible rendition of Men Without Hat's "The Safety Dance," and I think I could quite possibly be the only person to have ever selected that song! In my defense, the version had very little backing music! While the selection is good, the service was lacking that night. We were there for two hours. From the moment we stepped into our private room, the staff would not leave us alone and pestered us every ten minutes or so to check if we wanted to order drinks. The rooms are equipped with call buttons if you want to get the staff's attention. Our party just wanted to be left alone to sing our little hearts out! We are in private rooms after all for a reason... At 11:45, the staff informed us that we had 15 minutes left. Our party argued with the staff to either pro-rate our bill as we had not been there for a full two hours or to let us stay for the full two hours. They decided to let us stay for the full two hours. Our bill for the two hours and drinks was around $85. We paid with $100 in cash, and the staff interrupted our singing once again to ask us if we wanted our change. Hmm... let's think about that? Of course we our change! You're supposed to leave tip at Yes, and we left one, but isn't it bit presumptuous for the staff to assume that they can keep the change? Maybe we were just unlucky with the service that night. My voice was definitely hoarse at the end of the night, and I had fun attempting to and failing to hit those high notes. read more

When you're paying $75.00/hour for a room and you're getting antenna quality video from the 90's, it's definitely an embarrassment and a waste of money. I went on a Friday night with some friends and coworkers to get our karaoke on! We reserved the small room, since we didn't have a humongous group of people. The song selections were not bad, but they weren't great. I think they have more of the old school songs for you to sing. I'm only speaking on the English song selections. I can't speak for the Chinese or Vietnamese song selections, though. Since I like more of the R&B type of music, I did appreciate that they had some of my favorite songs from Toni Braxton, Usher, and even Mariah Carey. Other songs were good too. There's even songs from Bon Jovi! I think I just had a great time because most of the people I was singing with sang their socks off, and just had an overall good time. I think this place is great for groups, since this will definitely bring you closer together. Here, it's ok to be a goofball, or even go off key! LOL! I think the room rates are much more affordable too, compared to Spotlight Karaoke. I do have to say that time goes by rather quickly. We reserved our room for only 2 hours, and by the time we made our song selections, and sang through maybe only 10-12 songs, our time was up. I would say if you plan to go on an all out singing fest, plan to at least reserve your room for 3 hours. Also, please plan on having your dinner/drink before coming here. Drinks here are nothing spectacular. In fact, I think they're watered down in my opinion; and I only got the tea and coffee drink. read more

This was my first time at a Karaoke place and I was actually pretty impressed other than the stingy money. I scheduled ahead of time and the people who were in charge were very organized about that. However, they wouldn't let any food or drinks in the karaoke room so if you got too thirsty or hot or hungry while singing, you had to buy their super pricey drinks or food. They did give out free popcorn though which was nice of them. As a chinese american who can only read english, the song choices were updated and the menu was super easy to access. Pretty good karaoke system and room. You can turn off the singers voice if you want and they have more actual music videos that play with the song than other karaoke places. Service however is not the best. I called the day before and reserved the room for 2 hours. When we got there the next day, we asked if it was possible to change it to 1 hour, they said no so we just went on with 2 hours; no big deal. Then about 50 minutes in they asked us to leave because another group showed up that they could give this room to. I understood why they did it, but I am bothered by their lack of customer care and there have been situations like this. I would've given it one star but there was a guy that explained to us how to use the equipment and search for the song. We walk in and I was expecting the rate to be $28 for a group of 8 which they mention it would be a small group according to the picture but it has gone up. No biggie it was going to be $33 per hour. Cool. We get into the room it's summer time so it's quiet hot in there, like the humid hot. Later on the ac kicks in but it's only quick in for 2-3 minutes and then it stops for another 30 minutes. As the night progresses we start to smell the cigarette smoke. I assume another group was smoking in another room. But dang! Now it's not only hot but it reeks as well. We had fun singing to the songs! We ended up staying for 2 hours and brought 2 bottles of sake. They give us our bill, we pull out or cards and their like ohh sorry we can only swipe 2 cards. Nowadays not many of us carry cash, so everyone starts digging for cash. I guess the part that ticked me the most was that one of my friends was pulling out her quarter, and the server guy was like "really?!? No quarter" it caught me off guard like hey dude that's still money. Anyways we ended up paying it off but their service at the end was awful. I forgot to mention after he charges our cards he then realizes they forgot to charge us the alcohol. So it was another 10 dollars, we asked if we could put it in the card he was like we can only swipe 2 cards. So our cards could not get charged. So we have to start digging for cash again. We reserved a room with Yes KTV for my birthday in the beginning of April. The privacy provided I would say was the biggest plus for this business. We were all looking forward to singing some classics but their English song selection was very limited. For a business in Texas, they only had one Spanish song that we could find. The screen was also confusing to navigate to select a song. There was also a smell of sewage the drifted from the bathrooms to the rooms. Finally, the cost ended up being way more than what they offered. It just wasn't worth it to me because of the limited song selection. read more

I was treated very rudely along with my friends. They overcharged us and did not let us defend ourselves. They told us to either pay the amount or we would get arrested bc there was a police officer there. They spoke in their native language in front of us which was very rude bc we were trying to negotiate the pricing with them and we were asking why we were being overcharged. Had some friends coming from out of town; did my research and decided on Yes KTV. (Decided on them based on reviews). I found everyone who greeted us and helped us to be very friendly. The girl who showed us the room and how to use the TV was very brief but nice. I think we could have asked more questions if we needed to. Fortunately our group is able to understand some Chinese so this helped a lot. They had enough music selections to keep us busy and plenty in English but I think our only comment is that the videos are super corny and many of the 80's songs had videos that are completely unrelated to the music. Makes for a really weird experience when you are singing and looking at scarecrows, pumpkins, onions and other market produce (wierd!). The pricing for bringing in your own beer and wine isn't terrible. To give you an idea of beverage costs: a 2L of Coke is eight dollars, waters are two dollars each. Overall, I felt the bathrooms were clean and the rooms were clean. We had a good time and we weren't worried about making too much noise and we couldn't hear anyone in the other rooms either. They were able to let us stay a little bit longer than our original reservation. Checking out was very easy and there were no surprise charges. When we left I noticed a police officer standing outside (it was Saturday night). I did not feel that it wasn't safe. The entire shopping plaza is hopping on a Saturday night. I appreciate the extra security. I would definitely recommend this place to go with friends. We plan on going again soon. read more

A pretty nice karaoke joint! When we came, they told us the room we're gonna get will only have English songs and not other languages so we'll have to wait another hour but after saying we didn't want to wait, they took us to a room and there were other song languages to pick from? Anyway, the songs are mostly updated and there's a wide selection to choose from (btw if you are looking to sing Korean songs, they do not have the romanized lyrics, you have to read in Hangul). The small room is supposed to fit up to 9 people but I came with a group of 4 and it felt pretty tight, not that much room to move around. They've changed their prices from $29/hr for a small room now, you get free popcorn, and automatically get charged $5 tip. I really like the location of this place though, you can go downstairs after karaoke and grab some yummy dessert :) read more

First off, first impressions were nice. The staff seemed nice and knew what they were doing. The place looks clean and new. The rooms were clean and the karaoke machine was new and advanced. The staff gave us a tutorial on how to use their machine and we had little problem using it. We had a blast there. The main problem was when we paid. We only stayed there an hour or to be more exact an hour and like 10 minutes. They charged us for an hour and a half. That charged us like 30 dollars, that we did not even get to use. Apparently they start counting the time when you walk in the store, not when you get a room, because apparently while we were waiting for 15 minutes for a room to open up they charged us for that. The service got kind of bad when we got in our room. They brought us popcorn once and said it was free. When we asked for water several time they never brought in any and saw them doing that for other rooms. When we paid the bill, they added in tips that ended up being like 12 dollars for just bringing in one basket of popcorn and never bringing in water. Sure the price looks cheap and if you split with your friends its still affordable, but they add in extra charges like its nothing. In the end, the lady that looked like the boss charged us for enough tip so that our bill would be a 100 exactly. For once again need I remind you for an hour of singing... they pretty much robbed us double the price. read more

First time and the last time. Friend rented a room here and the manager conveniently failed to mention that "BYOB" means they they would charge you for every open container you have in their room. Needless to say upon paying there was a extra $80 charge that we were not expecting to pay. And they swore up and down that they told us. "It's our policy. Everyone knows that."
