I was really looking forward to enjoying a dinner at Yesterday's. This was the first time I have had the opportunity to eat here. I was VERY disappointed. I made reservations for 5, the day before. When we arrived, we were seated right away. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived but tables filled fairly quickly after that. We waited 30 minutes for our drink order to be taken and another 15 minutes for our dinner order. We saw tables that were seated after us being served their dinners. After 60 minutes of our order being taken, we notified the manager/owner and the food came pretty quickly after that. All of our dishes were too well done and dried out. It seemed they had sat under the warmer for a while. The price vs. the quality of our food and service was unacceptable and we will not return to this restaurant. read more

Went in with high hopes. At the start the service was great, the staff was attentive and quick to refill your drink. After ordering it all changed. Our salads were lump and warm. We had some bad pieces of lettuce that should have never gone out. Our main course finally came out and my grilled shrimp was cold and rubbery. I asked to get new shrimp. They came out hot, but there was no flavor to them. Both my wife and my main encore was very generous size, but it was only cooked half of it. Not the way to enjoy dinner. Service was terrible. We waited an hour and 29 minutes for our food. My sisters steak was raw and could not cut thru it. They took her steak back and it took another 20 minutes for that to be done and we all were done eating. The food was not good at all. Never again will we go there. Greek talapia, cheese wheel, yacht club salad, escargot, key lime pie, and bananas foster are a few of my favorites. The atmosphere is a little odd, but the service is always wonderful. We also love the teppanyaki room for a fun, exciting and different type of dinner. Duane puts on a great show and whips up some delicious hibachi food! Very conveniently located right in the heart of Arnold's Park. Can be difficult to find parking on a busy night, but it's worth the walk! read more

The food came out in a timely manner and was piping hot. My wife had the Greek Tilapia and I had the King Crab. We would recommend both. They atmosphere was warm and inviting and felt home town. This place has great food but terrible service. My buddy and I both ordered a 12 ounce top sirloin, mine came out perfect but my buddy's was MAYBE an 8 ounce. We made our server aware of the issue and his response was "Well maybe if you're lucky your friend will share his steak with you." Extremely unhappy with our service here. Doesn't even deserve a star. When walking in we were told there was an hour wait which was fine we just hung out in the area and came back. Sat down and ordered what we were told would be "an amazing tasting 1lb of Alaska King Crab Legs". After waiting about 3 hours I asked when our food might be ready and if we could have a refill as the people who walked in behind us had no wait time and were served shortly before us and then finally (past their closing time) they brought out our cold & soggy crab legs maybe half a pound if they had any meat in them at all and an over cooked steak as well. Do NOT recommend going here. Over priced & terrible food for the price they are asking. The worst place we ate the whole 8 days of our trip. read more

I live in Chicago, and recently hired Yesterdays to cater my wedding in Okoboji. Since I was planning from afar, I did everything with Yesterdays sight unseen-- we didn't even manage to try the food before our wedding day, because we don't live in the area. Working with the Yesterdays staff was a breeze-- Amy made everything easy, helped me to plan a menu that would work well for our number of guests and location, and even made helpful suggestions about layout of our reception space since she's so familiar with the area. At our actual wedding, the food was amazing. We did a beef tenderloin and pork tenderloin (which the owner carved for guests on site), a caprese salad, a green salad, dinner rolls and awesome smashed potatoes. The real star, however, was the service. Yesterdays unobtrusively filled wine glasses, cleared plates and they were incredibly friendly to all of our guests. I had great compliments from our attendees, who loved our traditional "Iowa feast" and were impressed by Yesterdays' affable crew. This is a lovely place to eat food with a homely atmosphere. We were there without any reservation and were accommodated into our table of choice very quickly. The staff were courteous. Food selection was good and our waiter took time to explain the food to us. The best part of the meal was the meal itself. I have never eaten such good tasting and fresh fish in US. Mostly restaurant fish is bone dry and difficult to swallow without a gulp of liquid with every bite. But the fish he were juicy and full. Cooked to perfection. For entrees we ordered the shrimp oscar and also the scallops. The scallop order only came with 3 of 10 count. For $28 we should have received at least 5 or 6. The shrimp oscar was good, but not great. The hollandaise sauce was very bland and not rich like I like it. We had the banana foster for dessert which was pretty good. We started out with the crab dip and seafood fritters. The crab dip was good, but it was served with Keebler club crackers. Just a little plain, but the dip was tasty. The seafood fritters were good--imagine a hush puppy ate some small shrimp and spiciness. For dinner I had the Chicken Marsala which was excellent. Dinner here last night. Four people. Appetizers were very good (Escargot and olive tapenade ). Next were house salads which I thought were the weakest part of meal-basically just lettuce with a piece of carrot and minimal dressing. Entrees were very good although the scallops were seared a little to much on one side which happened to be the side which was served down. The other fish entrees were excellent. Ordered one dessert, a banana foster. I was expecting the flaming presentation but it was served a banana, ice cream and caramel in a glass. Good but a little disappointing. Wine list was good for a small restaurant. Service was excellent. Would definitely come back. read more
