If I could give this place a zero star I would. My husband and I were celebrating our Anniversary and walked in thinking we could have a nice meal. 15 minutes sitting there, no water, no service. A group of four came in 10 minutes after us and was given water by the hostess and then a waiter came and took their order immediately. I have never walked out of a restaurant. But I did today. We tried calling for 2 hours but just received a busy signal. We got there at 6 PM and waited at the bar until 7 PM to be seated. We ordered a wine. We asked for a second wine from the bartender but he never brought it. The waitress stopped by at 7:15 to take our order. She kept stopping back saying the wine would be here shortly. She finally brought the wine, soup, and salad at 7:40 PM. She charged full price for the wine that was ordered during happy hour but wasn't delivered until afterwards. She kept stopping by to say that the food would be out shortly. The entrees finally came out at 8:35 PM. The pork chops were served in a bath of red wine that wasn't reduced. The mashed potatoes were skin-on russets that were like wallpaper glue. The crabcakes were served with the wallpaper glue and cold vegetables. Topped with overly salted onion rings. She brought the bill then disappeared for a half hour. She finally sent someone back with the bill. We paid it and left 3 hours after we got there. I would not eat here again. read more

I've been eating here for 25 to 30 years and they always have consistently the best food in the area. Tonight was no exception. Service was great the wine was great and the escargot was amazing as always. Seafood chowder top notch. My wife and I are steaks aficionados. Both got the filets prepared differently and with different sides these were amazing. We are both foodies and appreciate great food. This was great!! It makes me sad to see that they only have 3 1/2 stars. I read some of the reviews and went back and looked at the other reviews those people had put out. Seemed like a bunch of hillbillies with no idea what Good food is about. We just got back Tuesday from a coronary tour of New York City and this was the best meal we had and it was back in Iowa!! read more

July 7 2021 made reservation for 6 pm myself and family total 5 people. This was our 15th year that we came for the cheese wheel in our once a year vacation to okaboji. We got our drink order in and waited... they were busy no problem we understand.Then our appetizers order taken by 6:25 ,still ok ,but we wanted to do our dinner order also and she takes off like it was impossible to take it or something. I held my menu until 6:45 before she finally took our order and menu's. Then she comes by at 7:45 an hour later to say our food (should) be up soon. 3 booths around us 4 people each and a table next to us of 10 people all received food before us and we're sat after us. We new what we wanted before arriving at the restaurant. This was not us causing the delay issue. 8:03 food arrived and my wife's steak was cool not warm. My fried shrimp was fine but 2 hours for noodles a steak and fried food please. No here's a little dessert for the inconvenience of we took off the kids sodas or anything offered. Even regular chain restaurants are better at service and something of a respectful apology. I left a $20 tip 18% just cause I'm that guy. Food is good, and it's always fresh. We have been "regulars" for several years, but the last time we went was the last. They were fairly busy, but once we were seated our drink glasses were foggy and filthy. Both of my sons asked for a Shirley temple to drink. The first one had a large ant in his drink. Our server felt terrible. After we ate, my other son asked for a refill on his Shirley temple. He started drinking it when we realized that there was a large ant in his drink also. Once again, we told our server who was so embarrassed. He went to the owner, who "so graciously" took the Shirley temples and dessert off of our $140 bill. Used to be a favorite last summer but came at the opening this year and we will not be returning again. We used to get good crab legs and lobster here the previous summer but on our recent visit it was a joke! The crab legs were undercooked and a smaller portion than usual and they were brought out cold....very upsetting for $40 crab legs! The $30 lobster tail was supposed to be 8 ounces but was so over cooked it turned into a hard puck 1/4 of the advertised size. The escargot was expensive and consisted of 5 small snails and 4 tiny pieces of bead. The ice cream sundae could have been prepared better at home. For the $130 bill we left starving and disappointed. read more

Food sucks - very low quality. The service is great but who cares unless you just want to drink? One of (if not the) worst filet mignons I've ever had. For the same price point, you will have better luck and a much nicer atmosphere at Water's Edge Grille. There are literally no other restaurants I would pay for in at least a thirty mile radius. Potential washed away with the rain. We came in. 6 empty tables, 3 waitresses, 1 bus person, and the hostess. We were sat and forgot about. Another group came in, the hostess poured poured their water. The waitress immediately took their order. Our decision for what to order was made, they lost out. We left. Delicious! I had the seared ahi tuna, my boyfriend had the shrimp de la Oscar. Both great. Only complaint and reason for 4 stars is the tuna could have been seasoned a little better and the wasabi a little spicier. Chowder soup also claimed to be spicy but wasn't very spicy, but we have a high tolerance for heat. Staff was friendly and prompt with service. Overall, great experience. read more

We had a group of four people. Two had crab, one fish and one steak. The steak was over-cooked, the fish was dry and the two of us who had crab were thankful we had hot butter to offset the cold crab legs. Very disappointed. We've been there several times as we live in the area. Not a good experience. New kitchen help? Very nice server. Two of us also ordered Old Fashions and they were very poorly made. No offer to re-make them. Too many restaurants in the lakes area to return to this one, this year. The server is the only reason this gets 2 stars instead of one. read more

After a horrible experience at the Gardens across the street where we waited for 45 mins. and watched as other people who showed up after us got served Me and my wife went to Yesterdays. My wife is not a seafood lover but they had steak and chicken as well. We had a wonderful experience there and made our night better. The service was excellent and so was the food. We will be making a trip there again sometime in the future. My wife would like to try the steak and I'm looking forward to the surf and turf meal. read more

We visited Yesterday's on Wed night for dinner with a special guest. He had heard about the cheese wheel and we all ordered it. Obviously much of the restaurant did also. We got to watch a young woman serve this to a number of people and she poured the pasta and water into the wheel and really worked it with her spoon a number of times before serving it. By the time our turn finally came Duane (the former owner) stepped in to help out. Our spin in the cheese wheel was very brief and our portion sizes were noticeably smaller than previous meals. Dry pasta, I had to request more cheese twice, and very small but expensive add ons ( 5 small shrimp, a small handful of salmon or a small amount for shredded chicken) made for a very expensive and unsatisfying experience. The new owners are going to have really shape up if they are going to keep people coming through the doors! We will not be back for a long time! read more

Yesterday's has become my favorite restaurant in the Lakes area. The food here is always good. My favorite is the sea bass, always delicious and cooked perfectly. For special occasions book the teppanaki room and watch them cook your meal right at your table, Japanese style. If you are craving seafood or a good steak, this is the place to eat. read more

Tried to get a take out order and the person on the other end of the phone said they were too busy to take an order and then hung up. We called back and the same person (turned out to be the owner) said they do not do take out on Friday or Saturday. We suggested that policy be included on the website and the owner hung up on us - for the second time. I will absolutely never do business with this restaurant. That type of behavior toward a customer is never acceptable regardless how busy you are. A negative number of stars would be far too high for the terrible service. How awful. read more
