I walked up to her and asked if they had the tree that I was looking for, she didn't even look up from watering, but said " I don't know. I haven't been here for the last 2 weeks!" She didn't even bother to put down the hose and look for the tree or even ask the owner. She just motioned where to go look. That is horrible customer service! After we went to go look, and found out that they didn't have any, we walked back out to the front & passed the same girl. Do you think that she would ask if we found what we were looking for?? No! Of course not! I honestly will not go back there! I would rather give my business to Lowe's or Home Depot.

I went to them in fall wanting a fast growing tree to put in my front yard. They didn't have much…read moreto choose from and I should have left then. But a sales lady showed me a magnolia tree where one side had been cut off. It looked strange, but I was assured it had only been damaged in transport and would fill out get new branches soon. They're the experts, so I bought it. A man, I assume was the owner, started yelling at the sales lady saying she left her walkie in the bathroom and he was trying to get ahold of her. She had other customers who wanted to buy more than a tree! He said this in front of me, like I didn't matter!! RUDE! By the end of spring one side of the tree still had no leaves or branches, the other side looked like a few branches had died. I called and they gave me the lady who sold me the tree. She said to cut the dead branches off and it would be fine. I did and a few weeks later more branches would snap off. I called again and was told I must have planted it too deep. I took photos for them, it was planted right, must be too much water, or not enough water, or the soil wasn't good enough. They wouldn't ever admit they sold me a sickly tree that they knew there was something wrong with it. Fast forward a few years, their news letter says if you have questions just ask. So I emailed asking questions about mulch, how to prevent weeds over winter and the best time to fertilize. Danny emailed back and said he would call. I have the Home & Garden's ID on my phone but never got a call from them. I called them a week later asking for Danny and said he was going to call me. A girl said he was with a customer, but she would give him the message and have him call me. It's now been two months since he said he would call and hasn't. So I think their communication is terrible, they don't seem to care if they sell their customers bad plants, a lot of their plants are cheaper at Home Depot or Lowes and they yell and humiliate their employees in front of customers like they should be grateful they even have jobs. No way could I ever recommended The Home & Garden center to anyone.

The back of the store has some antiques, but I would say that most of the store's area is devoted to new merchandise (quilts, jewelry, decor)

The selection of antique light fixtures is one of the best I have ever seen. There are amazing fixtures from the old library in town. There are also other fixtures that are vintage and antique that are really nice ceiling mounts. There are lots of iron items like pulleys, door hardware, and ice tongs. There are all sorts of beautiful glass ware items, kitchen items, and silver. They also have lots old keys that are fun to look at. You are never sure what you will find.
