She carefully listened to any requests my husband and I had, and even respectfully gave feedback that I should just trust her craft (after I was sharing some very specific ideal shots / feelings / flow and video pan -- and honestly, I also didn't really know what I was talking about ;)). So we got lots of beautiful photos of the scenery at our venue, flower arrangements, table settings, lights, our rings, the cake, etc. He took photos of me with my bridesmaids getting ready and my husband getting ready with his groomsmen -- both candid shots and beautifully arranged ones. Lots of photos of the ceremony itself. Casual photos of our guests. More stunning photos of me and my husband after the ceremony ended. And then a whole slew of casual dinner and dancing photos of everyone having fun. He gave us about 1000 photos when all was said and done, with a perfect balance of all the different styles. He also shot our engagement photos. We spent a few hours driving around Santa Cruz taking photos in all sorts of beautiful locations. He has a great eye for finding interesting backgrounds to make his photos really stunning. When deciding which photos to put up on our walls, the problem was not finding good ones, it was narrowing down the huge number of good ones so our home isn't completely wallpapered in wedding/engagement photos.

The photo shoot was a lot of fun, and Dominic knew exactly how to position you to get the right shot. He was quick, efficient, courteous and professional. From the very first questionnaire and zoom intro call to the closing presentation of the videos and photos, the entire process was so seamless. 5 stars all around. I could go on and on about why FJM was so excellent throughout the wedding process but this review would frankly be too long. So let me just highlight some key parts: + David & Victorio are just all around chill people that make the entire process so comfortable. It's actually a huge reason why we picked them - compared to others we talked to, we just really felt like we'd get along with them and that they'd make our wedding day even more fun. They even made our engagement session super fun with music, jokes, and helpful coaching to keep us laughing and having a good time. (We had two engagement sessions with two different photographers and when we were with the other - we could *tell* the difference. David and Victorio are pros at making couples feel comfortable!) + Not only that, they're so patient and understanding. They worked with us to figure out a package that fit our budget + what we were looking for.... and they were super patient with us when we ran really late to our engagement session (sorry sorry sorry!). When we met the group at The Great Bridal Expo, we were impressed with their portfolio and with how many people were gathered around their booth. We mentioned where our wedding was, and Van grabbed one of their albums to show us exactly what we could look forward to since they had worked a wedding at our venue in the past. He quickly gained my trust with his knowledge of the area. Shortly after attending the Bridal Fair, I contacted Michael's Wedding Group to ask some more questions. Sue responded to my email within hours of sending it! She really is great at communicating with their clients. Although I do love to look at beautiful engagement photos, I didn't want our session to be by that one tree at that one park. I imagined something different and more fun. We originally chose to have our engagement session at The Color Factory, but we weren't able to get tickets to any of the slots. We did, however, manage to snag some tickets for the first week that The Museum of Ice Cream opened in San Francisco. Sue was very patient as we tried to coordinate all of our schedules while we tried to get the super coveted tickets to MOIC. Michael met us at the Museum of Ice Cream and we had the best engagement session I could imagine! It resulted in a lot of awesome pictures, delicious treats, and we felt really comfortable while having our pictures taken at a public place with lots of people watching. Van and Israel were our photographers on our wedding day. I sent them an extensive list of must-have photos before our big day, and they were able to capture everything and more! Van was very efficient and has a great eye. Israel was our second photographer and helped make sure the lighting was just right. My entire bridal party was comfortable with them as they captured special moments throughout the day. Something I really appreciate when it comes to vendors is how real they are. It's nice to talk to vendors who genuinely make a connection as someone who wants the best result for you, and not just someone you're hiring. All of our encounters with the group reflect this- both in person and online. You should be comfortable with everything regarding your wedding. We took our engagement photos a couple months after hiring them and Michael and Sean was our photographer for the shoot. The pictures came out beautifully and we knew that our wedding day was going to be better. Our wedding day consisted of Van and Sean as our main photographers. They were with us the whole time from the early morning to the tea ceremony, the actual ceremony and at the reception. Van was too cool! We was speaking Vietnamese to my family since some of the older folks didn't understand English well. He knew the etiquette of the culture and executed it really well.
