I just want to share a quick story of this. I've know this restaurant chain for quite while now. And I came and go with some small piece dessert in the past. But this latest I've experienced has to be worst in my life. I made custom cake on the 5th of August. And I said it's for my mom. The person understood what I said. And it's was my very first time doing custom cake, from this location. The cake was happy birthday mom 50th birthday, and some fruit decorations on the side of it. Since price came out to almost $82. Then I said there is discounts for the first time custom cake. Then the person lady said yes, the price drop down to around $62. I paid half at the beginning. Then she also said I can pay other half when picking up August 29th. The day came I was on time to pick it up. I had no complaints or hate for the cake. But then paying comes. I had to pay almost $50 the discount didn't honored. And receipt is right there on the back, and amount due still said also $31. How could they incompetent, they don't fully see the amount due, $31 receipt in the back is said paid. The place made sad, angry, let my hopes down. How could they say we do honored and when day comes we don't do it, we request full amount. I never come again this place ever again. I hate yia yias bakery. Shut down place if you can. read more

Staff treated us wonderfully and when I decided to try a latte the server went above and beyond to ask about milk ratio, heat she made it specifically for me. I went to this business in March 2026. I drove almost 15 miles to get there. The colorful items looked great and there is a lot of variety here -- but I was not impressed with the quality of the bakery products! The cakes, cupcakes and cookies looked like they are full of preservatives. Nothing I ordered had any real taste. The items appeared processed and chemically engineered. For example, the no-bake cheesecake has a texture, smell, and taste that did not mirror anything fresh. I asked for a cheesecake that had been baked and I was told that the carrot cheese was the "old fashioned" kind. What I got was a creamy jello-like cream cheese substance mix with box cake and added flavoring in between. No graham cracker crust at all. I believe this bakery has enormous talent tucked away in the back. They use food colors and flavors because its popular and the shelf life is longer. I hadnt been to Yia Yia's in a while, but was in the area on an early morning and just had to stop by. I didn't know that they basically function as a cafe in the morning. There were several people sitting inside and having coffee with a pasty. It's a cute shop! I always get the smith island Cake, but I tried the strawberry shortcake and it was delicious. I wish the slice was bigger. I also got a boston cream donut that was not very fresh. I didn't realize they had donuts because they were behind the counter, which might have contributed to lack of freshness. I would definitely return for the strawberry shortcake. read more

After being mistreated at this store on Feb. 10, 2026, my husband and I received the following message from Ana apologizing and stating she will make amends to keep our business. Unfortunately, she was not honest and never inititated any kind of a credit. Ana did not stay true to her word as no credit could be found even though she stated this in her response to our complaint as shown below. Today we were at the bakery and told that no credit existed. This is very dishonest and we no longer will spending one dime in this place. We had intended to purchase some chocolate mice (4) for our grandchildren and (4) cannolis for the adults, but left without any purchase due to the dishonesty. I am old school and think businesses should stay true to their word, but this one does not. Poor service and dishonest staff. Here is the original response from Ana due to an issue with their sub shop, "Feb 10, 2026 Hello Kathleen, we are truly sorry for the experience you and your husband had. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment this caused, especially as long-time customers. I was able to locate your receipt, and we acknowledge that the interaction was not handled appropriately. The way this was addressed at pickup does not reflect our standards for customer care. Please know that this matter will be addressed with my staff, as respect and honesty are non-negotiable values at Yia Yia's. As a gesture of goodwill, we have placed a store credit under your name for future use, and it will be available whenever you choose to return. This is a bakery where I previously enjoyed all cake purchases. Dec 6th I purchased a container of macadamia nut and a container of oatmeal raisin cookies. I stopped in to pick up a couple of pastries for my husband and I to enjoy and the place was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon which I took to be a good sign. I got the red velvet cake and a heart shaped strawberry cake. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Both tasted so synthetic that we couldn't even finish them and we love sweets! Even looking at the other options in there, the cheesecake slices looked like what you find at a diner and most had a huge layer of whipped cream on top instead of letting the cheesecake be the star. Although not as close to us as it used to be, Yia Yia's is still very much worth the trip. We've ordered a few birthday cakes and/or had one of the many ready made/available daily cakes decorated for different occasions. Some of our favorites-Mouse, Cookies and Cream cake, Carrot Cake, Tiramisu, Key lime pie slices and any of the cheesecake (Snickers!) flavors. You can't beat their slices/cup cakes selection! A good variety of European cookies (Greek specialties) & pastries that never disappoint. They also have donuts that are excellent! (chocolate frosted is the one!) They used to sell made to order deli sandwiches but unfortunately it looks like they have stopped this service. Servers are always friendly and helpful! A friend had told me about Yia Yia's and how awesome their cakes were, so I stopped in today. This place is phenomenal! A huge range of cakes and breads. All looked amazing. Of course they had the red velvet cake I was looking for but I also had to get a few slices of their other offerings. When I got home, we had a taste sampling. All were excellent! I've been coming to this bakery every other Sunday for years. Me and my family absolutely love Yia Yia's cheesecake. We love it so much that this is THE place where we go and think for all our cheesecake cravings. We recommend it to coworkers and friends. Sometimes we even pick some up for the neighbor. However we were all very surprised that when we got home and opened our box the slices were very noticeably smaller than they were a month ago. There use to be overhang on the small circular piece of paper that's around the cake slice. An over hang of an inch or more on each side. Now the cake slice doesn't even make the length of that paper and the price is still the same if not more? Sundays are our time to come together and we always get multiple flavors. There was enough to go around and share our favorite or try someone else's favorite. The cheesecake here was always the best and it was a huge bonus to get so much but half the amount for the same price is too much. We really hope this changes. This bakery is a gem located on Philadelphia rd in white marsh. We have had many items from this place at different functions and everything we've tried has been delicious!! We bought our sons graduation cake here -a red velvet with cream cheese frosting & there were no complaints. As far as quality goes 5/5, prices 4/5 some items can be pricey but they do custom cakes like nothing you've ever seen before. I highly recommend this bakery for all your cakes, special order items etc. just be sure to order a special item with plenty of notice and you won't be disappointed! I was disappointed to find that the decadents of the taste has been replaced with cheaper or ingr or just less of the main ingredients that kept me coming here for years.. She tripped into a wall, split her head open, bruised her neck, and was gushing blood! Not only did the worker/cashier, not initially do anything, they didn't even ask how she was doing, nor ask for her information and didn't even offer her another treat. Another customer had to tell them to call 911. I followed up with her, and she has several stitches, a huge contusion on her neck and is extremely sore. Shame on Yia-Yia's bakery. Yes the napkins that were handed to her were appreciated but don't you find it odd that the manager wouldn't take her information considering the fell took place in your store? Spanikopita was soggy and tasteless with no feta in sight. Tables were dirty. White chocolate "cheesecake" was tasteless--all parts of it, threw it away (it was $7 for that slice). Baklava was good.
