Looking for a quick bite on the way out of Fairhaven, our friend recommended Yia Yia's. She did very well by us. I ordered a chicken parmigiana hero; simple, but easy to mess up. The balance was perfect: chicken tender and tasteful, hero perfectl toasted; the marinara flavorful, and just the right amount of cheese. Superb. My wife got the falaf plate. The falafel were really fresh, clearly homemade, light, and delicious. She requested tahini, and the owner whipped it up from scratch in moments. (And pita bread right out of the oven, also homemade). They were genuinely interested in us enjoying our meal. Which we did. What a pleasant surprise. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Amazing pizza! We stopped in here after calling to order a large pepperoni pizza after leaving the beach. It was ready within 15 minutes! We pulled in to the parking lot. It's a cute, small restaurant with some dining area...mostly bar area but I'm not sure if they serve alcohol or not. We were merely picking up so it wasn't a concern of ours. The pizza smelled amazing! We were greeted upon entering and immediately handed our pizza. We could barely stand to wait until we got home to eat it. This place reminds me of a small town, authentic pizza joint! Very friendly and eager to make their customers repeat with a quality product! It tasted great and was super fresh! The pizza here is always amazing! We got one sliced pepperoni with mushrooms and one sliced linguica. I ordered delivery completely online, which was really very convenient and so simple. They were out of bone-in wings, so we went with the boneless wing dinner. We chose to have ours with double hand-cut fries instead of the fries and salad, which also included a generous amount of blue cheese dressing for dipping. Unfortunately the dinner isn't pictured here but everything was really tasty, the fries were just a little undercooked but overall the food was hot, fresh and delicious! My girlfriend went back to talk while I sat in the car, the worker pretty much laughed at my girlfriend and said there was nothing they could do. So I went in there and spoke to them politely and she gave me attitude and said "well if you don't like it then don't come here, I can't make the pizza to your specific needs, u asked for pizza I gave you it so if u don't like it don't spend ur money here." All my girlfriend and I wanted was either a refund or a remake which they didn't offer. They didn't help in anyway possible. Since it was already in the system. Had the cheese calzone with marinara sauce. The sauce tasted very fresh and the calzone itself was delicious. Portion size was huge and had leftovers for lunch the next day. This is more of a take out restaurant, but there are a few tables inside. Service was good and friendly. If in the area again, we will definitely eat here again. read more

The last 2x I've ordered from here it was a poor experience. 1 bad experience is 1 thing it happens anywhere so have them another try and it was even worse. Both times the meals purchase weren't finished by my wife and I. Kind of annoying to waste money on food that ended up in the trash and be left still hungry having to make food. Both times it was the same order a Large cheese pizza and a large roast beef with a side of fries.. how do you mess up a cheese pizza. First time it was almost no sauce very dry and second time again it was like cardboard with to much sauce as far as the roast beef I like it cooked the first time it wasn't cooked at all and it was clear no attempt was made to cook it second time I made sure to make it clear how I wanted it. Person had a little attitude saying it can't be cooked to the done as I want I said yes because EVERYWHERE else can do it why can't they and what do you know I get home to eat it and it was legit burned like how did they even think it was ok to give it to a customer. There needs to be better quality control and they need to be more friendly and accommodating to how people want their food if you don't want to them don't accept the order. Hopefully a manager sees this and has a talk with their staff. Idk if I'll bother giving them a 3rd try to take my money read more

I ordered a meal to be delivered to my hotel on a Tuesday night. After reading other reviews I was confident the food would be good. I was correct, the food was good, but everything else about my experience was terrible. I called to order my food over the phone and was assured they would deliver to my hotel and I would pay when the food arrived. Now I travel for work very often. I order food nearly every night I travel. I am not new to this. The gentleman arrived with my order and told me I couldn't use a credit card or debit card-- isn't this something they should've told you over the phone? Luckily I had cash. Then he said I had to ask for a receipt when ordering. They don't print receipts for everyone. I pay and tip him and now I head back to my room to eat. I open my food and there are no napkins, no utensils, no condiments. I later call the restaurant asking if I can have a recipe emailed to me or pick up one the next day so I can expense my dinner. The person on the phone was very rude asking why I would need one. Then comes back a few minutes later to tell me they don't do that. I had to ask for one when I ordered. If the food was exceptional or the delivery was prompt and the receipt was the only issue, I could overlook that. But to have three different employees all be rude and complacent shows the establishment is lacking in quality help. read more

It's hard for me to be completely unbiased when it comes to Yia Yia's Pizza. I've been going to Yia Yia's for years now and I have probably had everything on their menu at least once. In the process I have developed a fondness for this family owned restaurant that can't be denied. There is no mistaking it, if John and Joanne closed Yia Yia's Pizza I would have a hard time filling the void that this cozy little pizza place has filled for the last couple of years. Now, with that being said I can try to look back and remind myself of what got me to this point. It only took a couple of visits to Yia Yia's for me to realise what makes this place special and that is their astounding attention to quality. Everything from Yia Yia's pizza is fresh and made in house. Even little things like the fresh mushrooms on their pizza (as opposed to the rubbery canned mushrooms that are found at other pizza places) or the fresh Spinach (which is highlighted on their amazing ZORBA pizza) speak volumes for the quality of the product that this quaint little "pizza shack" produces. Their menu is adventurous to say the least. John studies pizzas from all over the world and brings them to his customers with his own special charm. Off-the-wall pizza's like the "Clam Boil" Pizza or the "Coney Island" Hot Dog pizza will satisfy your "sense of adventure" while Pizzas like the "Steak Fajita" and the "Tia Maria" (Linguica, Fries and Hot Peppers) will blow your mind. One thing that I think is very under-rated and hasn't been mentioned here yet are their Gyros! They make the best Gyros around. In fact they make a Gyro Pizza that is one of the most amazing pizza's I've ever had in my life. But don't let my biased review sway you. Go in... The best pizza in Fairhaven! The owners are a local family and are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Everything I've had there is great, full of fresh ingredients. Just like your real yia yia, this place will take care of you and feed you right. FYI: "yia yia" is Greek for "grandmother," but this place won't nag you to get married or dislike your "wild" friends. Anyway, Yia Yia's has pretty good pizza; I would have given them 3 stars, but the appetizers and nice staff push the rating up to a 4. The staff knew me by my second visit and they struck up a conversation. Mac and cheese bites are good and mozzarella sticks are crisp (not kinda flabby like some places). Now, the fabulous part: buffalo fries. The buffalo fries are the best--they put them on a sheet of tinfoil, drizzle them with spicy buffalo sauce, put them in the pizza oven, and then give you chunky bleu cheese dressing to dip them in. After glowing reviews, we visited Yia Yia as we were in town on a getaway weekend. I have to say I was expecting a lot more. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly and you get the sense of a small town feel when the owners know folks dropping in to pick up their orders. The other plus, was the taste of the pizza, which was decent. We tried the Shrimp Mozambique pizza based on the reviews and it has a very unique taste. Now for the minus side, we almost drove by this place as there is really not much to it and there was minimal parking. I felt like the ambiance was like a typical take-out pizza place or Dominos as there was minimal seating and it was more take-out, less sit down cafe. While I mentioned previously that the Pizza tasted good, it was what I describe as a "Floppy Pizza". There was so much grease on top that we needed at least 7-8 napkins to blot the grease off. Additionally pulling the pieces apart without having the cheese fall off was next to impossible. It does earn the floppy award - - definitely not crispy as we hoped. We also ordered garden salad and it was very average. We looked outside and noticed some decking with slightly tacky PVC pipe with plastic ties holding it to the fence - - perhaps for umbrellas and we wondered if this place gained popularity in the summer. The attached neighboring business was vacant and it seemed like an opportunity for this place to expand into a more inviting Pizza restaurant. That in tandem with a more crispy product with less grease would be more appealing overall. read more

We knew nothing about Yia Yia aside from the few reviews posted (we're from Nebraska on a travel assignment here-- looking for good food in our spare time...). We almost missed the place--it's on a dark road away from the main drag, no "Pizza" or "Open" sign to be seen--we only noticed the sign for the convenience shop adjacent to Yia Yia. Fortunately we didn't miss it--it ended up being some of the best pizza we've had! We browsed through the extensive menu and decided on the taco pizza (I wanted to venture on to more unique offerings, but the hubby won this time...). We also watched as some subs were being assembled--they were huge and packed with fresh ingredients. Yia Yia apparently thrives on take-out, since there were only 3 tables aside from the few counter seats (which most patrons perched on while awaiting take-out). The selection of drink choices were limited: 16oz bottles of root beer/Pepsi or a 2 liter of Diet Pepsi (again, catering to take-out) but we chose the 2 liter and asked for 2 cups. Then, much to our delight, we noticed on the menu that "BYOB" was an option! I sent the hubby next door to see if the convenience store had any beer/wine, and he returned with a 6-pack of Samuel Adams Irish Red, which we enjoyed while we waited. The pizza arrived and it was big and beautiful: crust was perfect! Thin, not too crisp, and so packed with toppings that it was difficult to pick up (thankfully, plastic wear was available:)) We ate our fill and had PLENTY to take home! We will certainly be back again to try one of the Greek or Portuguese-inspired flavors! read more

OMG. My favorite pizza in MA (I'm a New Yorker) (get over it). To call their creations "pizza" undervalues the craft. Your tastebuds will thank you. It's one of those places with a huge menu of choices, but you stick pretty much with one or two offerings that you and your partner or friends ordered on the first visit. I forget whether I ordered the small "Mediterranean - Traditional with garlic, eggplant, tomatoes, feta cheese, and kalamata olives" or the small "Athenian - Bianca with garlic, basil, sun dried tomatoes, eggplant, feta, and red roasted peppers" (my partner and I never order the same thing), but both were delicious and more than adequate for dinner, with a small salad split between us.
