Attachments for my invisalign falling off within hours after being placed. Reattached then happened again. So they said just proceed without them ... leaving me confused. Doc not on site. Poor availability for follow up at Waimea office where initial consultation conducted. Little time spent with me to teach me how to remove trays. read more

BE CAREFUL! This practice has undergone a change in ownership. The previous owner, Dr. Yim, was a kind-hearted Hawaiian who had assembled a team of wonderful female staff members. Unfortunately, the new owner, Satya Nayak, an orthodontist (not from Hawaii) displays a complete lack of ethics, manners, and professionalism. He mistreats his female staff members, who were previously treated with respect and kindness by Dr. Yim. Patients consistently endure verbal abuse from Nayak, as he adopts a condescending attitude towards everyone under his care. In my experience as part of a mothers' group focused on middle and high school students in Waimea (Kamuela, Big Island, Hawaii), Nayak visits our area once a month and also frequents Kona, Big Island Hawaii once or twice a week. When I mentioned his name to the group, there was unanimous agreement about his rude behavior, leaving individuals feeling trapped due to his status as the sole provider in the area--a clear exploitation of innocent Hawaiians on the island. Despite having a monopoly on orthodontic services, the emotional abuse and subpar orthodontic care provided by Nayak make it not worth it. He aggressively promotes and sells Invisalign, treating children as mere commodities to maximize his sales per hour. If possible, it is advisable to seek orthodontic services in Honolulu or any other island, where a wide range of excellent and professional orthodontists can be found. I fully support Pamela D.'s review, where she mentioned that Nayak labeled her daughter as "not compliant" and even instructed her to cut her Invisalign with nail clippers, causing her mouth to bleed. Moreover, Nayak attempted to bribe me offering me a "good will" offer of $2,000 (instead of reimbursing me for my $6,000+ treatment and $6,000+ treatment for myself). I moved my daugther to a new professional doctor in Honolulu. I presented Nayak with the bill and his reply was a letter offering $2K for my silence. It is crucial for the local community, including Hawaiians, to be aware of the abusive nature of this individual. I write this review as a warning to innocent parents and patients. read more

Satya Nayak spoke RUDELY to my two children and myself. At my daughter's appt last week, I was called back to a large room that has 5? patient chairs in a circle. Satya was telling her that she was non-compliant and he couldn't do anything for her. What?? I was at there to find out what options we had for retainers to keep her teeth straight, we were near the finish. He didn't introduce himself, just started telling me that she is not wearing the braces and he can't waste anymore time with her. What?? I stepped up to her and asked what was going on. She looked ready to cry, nodded and said wasn't wearing them enough. During this he rudely started talking to his clinician about my daughter. I told her that there were 3 of us there and she was the only one who could do the "work" of wearing the braces. I asked if she still wanted straight teeth. -My kids went into this wanting straight teeth. She said yes. Satya joined our conversation again and turned a monitor to me telling me that "he" had made an improvement with her teeth that I could be happy with. I told him that I paid over $5,000- for straight teeth, not an improvement. He was stunned by my response and told her that this was her last chance, she needed to be honest with herself, ask herself if she could wear the braces, -wanting her to give up. He told me that she could not even wear the braces she was in, she needed to go back to what fit and start from there. Satya said this impatiently, in the big room of patients and staff. I told my daughter, let's go. He spoke the truth, but it is the way he said it. Not encouraging, not inspiring, but angrily and demeaning her. I kept wondering what happened that we were treated that way? I called the office and asked if our last appt reflected that we showed up? I was told that she was marked as a no show. There was a power outage that day, we were half an hour late as each stoplight took 10 minutes to get through. I called from the parking lot as is the procedure since covid and was told their power was out, she could not be seen. I did not state the obvious, it would have been nice if they could have called me. I asked to reschedule and was told they were not sure how they were handling this yet and they would call me back. What?? Obviously we needed another appt. When they did reschedule it was for 4 weeks later. I was disappointed but figured they were filled with other previous appts. True, but I didn't know that the office is only open one day a week since Dr Yim retired. Yim is who I signed up with. Yay for Yim for retirement! Thank you, Yim, for the time you spent with my kids. My kids did great with Yim and have not done well with Satya. Now I understand. We are not used to being spoken to so rudely. When I spoke to him on the phone asking to be seen by someone else, I said I he may be a nice person, but he is not a good fit for our family. He tried to get out of what he said to me, but I knew what was said, so then he told me that he was just trying to back me up. I do not need back up with my kids and said so. He told me that we couldn't disagree over what was said... -because he was rude and would not admit it. He said the only thing he would admit to is that I was never contacted that my daughter had not been wearing the braces. I also have a problem with us still texting when we arrive and they text when a seat is open. We were standing in the hot sun, -no shade. They are acting like they are being careful of covid, yet when we entered none of the staff wore masks. I am not for or against masks. I am against kids standing outside in the hot sun when there are seats in an a/c waiting room. I mentioned this to Satya and he said we could have come in. I said we did, because I am an adult who waited 5 minutes in the hot sun. He asked me what my complaint was then? I said that he has an A board by the door giving the number to text, so kids will stand in the hot sun until texted in. He told me that I had a point and thanked me for my input. I researched orthodontics before picking Yim as I was doing 2 kids at one time. $$$$$ Bad timing for me, I did not know Yim was retiring. But Satya knew what he was getting when he bought Yim's patients. It is not right that he is treating my kids and myself rudely while he is finishing their braces. It feels like he is trying to kick them out because he did not get paid for their services. One of his staff told me that my son should go to school to be a Dr, to buy me a house, for my frustration. WTH??? I told her that I hope my son is a happy person in his life with whatever profession he chooses. She told me, "Oh yes. You are such a good mother." My son has been refusing appts with Satya, now I understand. If Satya was that rude in front of me, what was he saying to my kids when I was not there? Satya Nayak was completely out of line and unacceptable. Would not accept responsibility for himself, thinks it is okay to speak to kids that way. Zero star read more

I'm not sure what those people below are talking about but I have nothing to say but good things about this office. I have 2 grandsons who have come here- one in Invisalign and one who was in Braces. Both of them were terrible wearing their rubber bands. As the person who brought them to their appointment all the time- it was super easy to reschedule and super easy to talk with them. They send me texts and emails and let me know way in advance so I could move things around. Going back to my grandsons who didn't wear their rubber bands- I was getting frustrated at home telling them to wear their bands- dr Nayak and his nurse told me to tell them to wear it. But you know these kids- they don't listen! I finally was soooo ECSTATIC/HAPPY when finally Dr. Nayak told them and gave them a firm talking to. I mean why I pay all this money and waste my time so they don't listen. Boy we're they scared and good for him! Now days so many people want their kids babied and their kids can do no wrong. But I don't have time for that. I'm paying for results- and my grandsons, who were 13 and 15 years old when they got their braces and Invisalign are old enough. I was getting exhausted and so were their parents telling them to wear those rubber bands. Dr Nayak also sat me and my grandsons down and told us that if we didn't wear them we would get the results we wanted. He spent the time to explain to me and them that we Might even have to take them off if they don't listen. After this visit- they sure did shape up and boy did they wear their bands! I'm so thankful he stepped in and didn't baby them. The world isn't a soft place and he saw how much money we spent as a family in both their treatments. I know Dr Nayak and his team care or else they wouldn't have said anything. But I digress- the experience here is much better than most offices I've been through and the wait time is minimal if any. The front desk girls are super helpful and the nurses really know what they are doing. I'm glad to say both my grandsons are done with treatment and we had a great experience here.
