Fortunately, my youngest son has recovered from neutropenia at 2yrs old and now he's 10yrs old, but his teeth still required some much needed attention. He currently has an amazing dentist (Dr. Derek Tom in Aiea) who referred us to Dr. Wong for his much needed braces. Dr. Wong has 2 offices, one in Kaneohe near the Windward Mall and the other in town near the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Although the town location would've been more convenient, we had to come to the Kaneohe location because of the appointment availability. Anyways, Dr. Wong has done an awesome job with my son. My son who was originally scared that this procedure would hurt, stated that the staff did an amazing job making him feel very comfortable. Now he will have to wear his braces for about 2.5 years, but he'll never regret what the results will be when it comes off. The staff are very friendly. The office is located on the 3rd floor of a building near the American Savings Bank near the Windward Mall. The prices are very reasonable. For some reason I originally thought braces costs around $8,000-$9,000 so mentally, I was prepared for this, but fortunately, it was less than $3,200 pheeeeeeew lol. The operation took a little over an hour long.

Everyone in the waiting room was privy to our conversation, there was no confidentiality. She brought up sensitive personal information on the screen (which was good sized), asked me to verify the information. I wasn't expecting this so of course, could not find my reading glasses to review this on line document. I just said it was fine so I could get out of the queue. I miss seeing the check in staff that is so friendly and personally greats me and makes me feel welcomed. This experience was impersonal and I felt that my personal information was at risk for being compromised. If this is the new "normal" for HFDC I may consider changing to a PPO dental plan so I can choose to go where I am welcomed by a real person.

Just as I was trying to explain to the TV person that I wanted to schedule an appointment one of the people from the front desk physically shoed me away. They said they were going to have a one hour meeting and I had to come back after. First of all, I wouldn't be here if you would answer your phone! And what's with the tv lady? And why are you having an all staff meeting during business hours and turning customers away? I feel unimportant and unwanted.
