Not a great place, but definitely center of the fairway. The first time we came, our Pack stayed in the upper area. This past weekend, we stayed in the main field. We had plenty of room, the staff were extremely accomodating/nice and the facilities were great. The location on the river was nice. The entire Pack had a great time. We didn't really know where to get water and they basically said - go to that field and it was the end of our interactions with the check in. The kids did the climbing wall, which was kinda ok as well as the low ropes which was definitely lame and you shouldn't waste your money. They were nice and it was interesting, but not worth the money. Basically, it was a teambuilding exercise. The Scouts had the usual incredible time, but that comes any time you put a bunch of young kids on a field and camp out. We had fun, have been before and will probably come again in a couple years. If you are looking for a place for your Cub Scouts to camp, come here. Just don't waste your money on the "extra" activities.

We had a fun ride! They were able to accommodate a next day trail ride in off-season today. It was…read morejust my daughter and I, and we were greeted by a cute dog on arrival. We did a practice ride in the ring before setting out on the trail. Since my daughter is young, they graciously led the horse on the trail. Both horses were calm and no issues on the trail. Mine tried to eat grass at the beginning, but I had already been warned and knew what to do! The trail goes back through the woods and then around the fenced in portion of the farm back to the barn. It was about 30 minutes of riding with a couple minutes on either side for getting instructions and putting the horses away. Afterwards, we said hello to the cat and bunnies, and the goats. It was a mild day and beautiful skies so the perfect winter day for a ride! We will be back when we are in town again.

One of the employees kindly called a friend who unlocked it for us and neither wanted any compensation. Of course, we insisted and we all left happy and grateful. So sweet! This camp and its staff truly welcome and include EVERYONE who participates in their programs and use their facilities. The motto "Things are different here" pervades the camp, because EVERYONE is respected, encouraged and treated with dignity, quite a contrast from what some call "the real world." How much better our world would be if everyone treated others with dignity and respect. I am so thankful that my children have Camp Hanover memories, and that I have been privileged to serve as a volunteer. The camp is also a great place to hold a retreat. There are a variety of accommodations and meeting spaces, food service and activities, including a lake, ropes course, zip line, climbing wall and many trails.

This was focused on water sports, so she spent a lot of time on the James River stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming (in the pool). They even did archery, campfires, sang songs, learned to make bracelets, play games and much more! My daughter even loved the food. It was great that they even allowed her to bring green juices + probiotics (that needed refrigeration), so she could consume daily! This is part of her daily healthy regimen and I am so glad they were thoughtful enough to allow this. She came home with a lot of stories + journal entries! I was excited to read and listen to all of the camp experiences! Of course she's already excited for the opportunity to attend next year!

I don't know why I have never reviewed this amazing place. It is simply one of my favorite places…read morein the area. I have had an awesome birthday party for an 8 year old there. My son's first time on a horse was there. Lunch for a friend's birthday on the little island was there and any time I want to feel close to earth and nature I ask the owner Chris if I can stop by. It is truly beautiful. The horses just add a little magical touch to the farm. It is also the perfect place for a wedding. If I were getting married it would be here at Fair Winds Farm. There is an amazing photographer Betty Bryant who can capture people and animals beautifully. As I said it's one of my favorite places in the area.

They had a real great time and had the opportunity to help prepare / groom the horses before the ride. We spent just a little over two hours and enjoyed every minute of it my daughter who is six is still talking about it. Outstanding job to the staff thank you very much.

We love our local YMCA! The workers are incredible, and though it may not be as large in some…read morerespects as various ones in the bigger surrounding cities of Hampton Roads, it has all you could want or need and more!!! They have great indoor and outdoor pools, workout/weight lifting room, exercise classes galore with awesome instructors and tons of choices with types of classes, big basketball gym and smaller one for the little guys (love it!!!), camps, sports teams for kids...we always do the fall and spring of soccer at the Y...the kids are crazy about the Y for sure!!! There is a great park in the back and tons of nets to practice soccer all year long. There is also a baseball field for those partial to baseball and an indoor tennis court I believe. If there was any question of if you should join the Y, I hope you can now change that question around a little to "why wouldn't I join the Y?!"! They always have great family activities going on all year round, different camps or classes for the kids and adults, oh and a babysitting room so the moms can workout for a bit on their own, and a kid zone that has a Wii and some just dance thing, and exercise equipment made just for older children which is awesome! There is really too much great stuff to list, and know I am missing a different elements, but they let you tour the place and try out a day for free...so come in and enjoy firsthand so you can decide for yourself! You won't regret it!
