I like the Y and am glad to have found such a nice, local pool to swim in. I do wish the lifeguards would watch and see how the lanes are shared when it gets crowded. I was also disgusted when a man put his hands down his swim shorts in front of me! I cursed at him but I think staff have to watch for this kind of thing, especially around keeping children safe. Other than that, the pool is clean and the sauna is a very cool feature. The staff and even most of the people are genuinely nice, which can really make your day. read more

Ymca's have great equipment but are horrible for powerlifting matter of fact anyone trying to take lifting seriously. 1. Shoes rule -- got told I couldn't deadlift in socks. You better have squat shoes and flats for deadlifting if you wanna train here. 2. No filming -- want to film a lift and send it to a coach or trainer? Sorry, not allowed. 3. No chalk allowed -- barbell slippery as fuck? Sorry, nothing you can do about it. 4. No backpacks on the floor. Want to carry around a lifting belt and shoes? Cool just make sure its not in a backpack because that would be too convenient. read more

The staff is extremely RUDE and LAZY. They never want to help with anything except over charging and taking money. They give no info except to redirect you to online help. The billing person was extremely rude and dismissive when asked for help with previous billing info. She kept repeating she would send me a link with directions to the info she had right in front of her. Then told me I had to wait till the other 2000 people got theirs in the mail or to FOLLOW directions like she told me very rudely and patronizing. I asked for help because I tried the directions and she repeats the same thing " either follow the directions or wait like everyone else". It's very frustrating that the staff doesn't care about the people who find their business of work. Very very disappointed and will NEVER EVER EVER deal with this place AGAIN. read more

Not going to lie, we had a rough start. Spoke with management and everything has been pleasant ever since. They value the parents and they back up their employees a win win. The teenagers could be nicer to the younger kids, sometimes mama bear wants to jump out. Made a lot friends with the parents and the facility is easily accessible to cars and bus. read more

Save your money, if you have a situation and have to move out of state they won't even discuss it with you. They absolutely refuse to allow you to get out of paying for an additional month over and above what you'd be able to use. Even after several years of membership. Scumbags and not what a YMCA should represent. Not in the spirit of the organization. But I guess they'll get an extra $72 for one more month even though we've given notice and tried to cancel. Unreal how terrible Tara handled the call to try and cancel. I'd never recommend this place again, which is a shame because we've used them for years for the club, child care afterschool programs, summer camps etc. They don't care, just want that extra month even with notice. Want every drop. Terrible customer service. Still they want me to come in in person to cancel, even though i'm 900 miles away now. The YMCA is a great gym overall with lot's of amenities. The gym rush hour here isn't as bad as Planet Fitness from my experience. The parking lot gets very crowded during this time but people are spread out inside using the basketball or racket ball courts, weight room, fitness class, pool, or aerobics machines. So, there's usually still no wait to use a machine. The men's locker room is big. It's a bit humid from the steam room. There's also a couch with a TV in there. People are very courteous about re-racking weights.The free weights go up to over 100lbs. They have pretty much all the machines I need for my workout. But they seem a little lighter on the ab machines than most other gyms. There are spray bottles and cleaning rags on most of the machines. read more

Been living in the area for nearly 7 years now and never realized this place existed. I always assumed it was just a song that they sing during the middle of Yankee Games... Anyway, we've been looking for some place to take our infant child swimming and for school and the Y does both. I take her to "Mommy and Me" (sub Daddy for Mommy) swimming classes and my wife takes her to pre-pre-school during the week. Both classes are great and she loves the time we spend there. We attend both of these classes paying the "non-member" rate. Membership does seem a little steep for a non-for-profit but I guess they have to make money to stay in business. read more

The YMCA is a great place! The staff is very friendly and not as crowded as other gyms. I feel very comfortable here. It's also very clean!

The aquatics program really sucks, very unorganized and directors are rude. Don't waste your time or money here! Goshen and Newburgh have better pools and family friendly staff. I haven't had good experiences here and it's unfortunate, canceled my membership. read more

Good, clean gym with a variety of classes. Vast cardio machine selection; small weight room with older equipment, but it has all of the basic necessities for weight lifting (squat rack, cable machines, decent range of dumbbells, etc). The trainers & staff here are beyond friendly and helpful (Jay is the absolute best!) It's a positive environment with a diverse community. If you're new to fitness and are looking to join a gym, this is the best place to start since it's not too intimidating. The only negative aspects are the hours. Many gyms in the area are open much later, or even 24/7, for that matter. As a full-time student & employee, it is sometimes a challenge to get to the gym before 5 PM on the weekends (they close @ 5:45 on Saturday & 4:45 on Sunday). Unfortunately this will be our last year at club kid. They recently made some changes to their inclement weather schedule. They said they called me at 926am to pick my child up at 5pm. I never received the call. When I asked what number they called they couldn't provide me the information. Because we didn't receive the call at 926am we didn't know to be there by 5pm. They informed us my son can not attend the YMCA, if they canceled after school activities moving forward. Also the director Sherry showed no interested in trying to help us, at all. read more

YMCA does not offer daycare to clarify a misconception written by another reviewer. They do offer Child Watch for people who are working out or using gym facilities. Also, they offer before and after school care for working parents of school aged children. Lastly, they offer Pre-K for 3 and 4 year old children that can be full or half day and full or half week depending on needs/wants of the individual family. There is a 2 year-old program that is minimal to expose children early to learning environment and school atmosphere. Miss Wendy and Miss Jenn worked miracles with my son last year. They were sweet and loving, kind and patient, and they had great learning activities, arts and crafts, field trips, community visitors, and weekly music, gym, and SWIM lessons included. I highly recommend the program, and though it can be hard to get in touch with the director, she really is a kind person who will listen and help out. read more

So I'm slowly getting tired of this place. The fact that they have a day care for my daughter and its clean is pretty much the only reason I'm still here. I feel like they are trying to be like planet fitness too much. They don't need to tell me to put my name on my workout folder. They don't need to tell me I'm making too much noise benching when I dont grunt...I'm lifting metal and putting it on a metal rack. Noise will be made. I dont need one of the staff printing out the rules I agree to and highlighting the section that says no personal training unless your staff, when all I did was show my fiance how to use a machine. I dont need all the staff assuming its me leaving weights on all the machines because I'm the last one in the free weight section. I put my weights away but I'll be damned if I'm cleaning up after everyone, especially when I know its the gym rats that these punk ass staff get buddy buddy with. And another complaint: The free weight section is too small. The pro's - Daycare, child programs, very organized, clean, very nice lady's at the front desk The con's - Need a bigger free weight section and trying to be too much they arent. Just let me lift in peace. Here's to hoping the new Gold's Gym has a childwatch that I've been hearing people talk about. read more

I've been a member on and off for years. Every time I've left to try somewhere new I've regretted it. They are expensive but will work with you if you don't have a high income. The veteran instructors are wonderful. Some our the newer staff I could do without. Something for everyone here, family atmosphere. read more

Everything runs like clockwork. They're very organized and you can get a good work out. The equipment is top notch and the monthly fee is a fraction of what you'd pay at those overpriced gyms where you wait for a station to become available. Who says you have to pay more? I come to this gym when I'm home visiting my parents from the city since they go here. When I lived in Middletown I used to go here, but I did not go for long after my parents stopped paying for me to go. I joined Gold's Gym which I liked much better and here is why. I do not like working out with children around. I am a teacher during the day and the gym is supposed to be a place to release and relax. I also do not like the locker rooms, they are gross. I am not a fan of the check in system in the front or the lady with the mustache. she creeps me out!! Yes, it is WAYYYY better then Planet fitness but, Gold's class times are better and the gym has more equipment then the YMCA. The YMCA is more of a gym for older people or people with children. I think they lack equipment and the equipment that they have improved is only the cardieo machines. I think that their studios are under used. The pool is also nasty, enough said. I prefer being back in the city at NYSC. read more

Good gym, lots of classes, swimming pool. More expensive than the other gyms, but I think it's worth it.

I like the atmosphere much better than Planet Fitness. Lots of classes and activities for kids. Could be cleaner.

This review is for the daycare. Let's start with you can never get in touch with the director of the program. You can call her, email her and leave messages NEVER A REPLY. Finally after a month waiting for a call back we decide to pop by the daycare and the Director happened to be in the facility; informs me that usually you need to call for a tour (which I have been for nearly 1month). I kindly informed her that we have been trying and she immediately gets defensive accusing us of not since she "checks her messages and emails regularly". I did not appreciate her accusations and her attitude. I am one of many parents whom have constantly tried to reach out to someone for concrete information and a tour. I hope someone from corporate realizes that they are losing business and customers since there is only one way of getting any communication in this center. Also corporate should know that their front liaison (the director) has a serious issue with acknowledging her wrongs and is very standoffish. read more

Awesome place to work out. I was a member at planet fitness in Middletown, which is a nice place, but lacks the classes and programs that the Y offers. The staff were very courteous when setting up a membership and i enjoyed the gym free time. One of the only places to play in door basketball when it's cold. Good place, could use some updating in some areas though, but that's expected with an old building, especially a YMCA. read more
