Horrible place terrible Customer service... the director is very unprofessional.. she told me my son could not come back because he has an IEP. My son IEP has nothing do with his behavior.. my sons attended the camp on July 3. It was my son first time at camp and he had a bad headache which he informed the counselor and she didn't do anything. They never called to imform me of how he was feeling. They completely neglected my child. They are under staffed and don't answer there phones. I'm filing a law suit for discrimination. My advice don't send your child . read more

Serves more as a hotel for homeless and a crappy "workout" facility for the large, poor black and Latin communities of Yonkers and the Bronx than it does as a health, community and fitness center. I was beyond disappointed to check this place out and then when following-up with a phone call to ask about rates and to find out if they offer Spin (or "indoor cycling) classes. The people who answer the phones here are barely able to speak or understand basic, clear English. I look a little different than most of the clientele, (I'm quite obviously white, and a nerd), which elicited long, paused stares as if I'd just stepped off a spacecraft. The facility in general appears dingy, dank, poorly maintained and cleaned. Still, I would have joined if there were a cycling class; not only do they not offer those as most Ys and health clubs do, they seemed clueless to what I was asking about. When did the YMCA become all about offering "services" to inner city kids and less about healthy options for the community in general? What a waste of real estate and tax breaks! read more

Don't waste your time or money. The staff are rude, unprofessional and unwelcoming. The whole place is rundown and dirty. It's more of a a.homeless shelter than it is a welcoming place to maintain health and fitness. There is no available parking lot and there have been several bedbug incidents THERE. read more

They get 1 star is for the price I went as a guest with my son for the pool to practice they charge $15 dollars for both of us which was cool first thing I saw was the pool was small compared to the others we go to the pool the stair to climb in broken the pool dirty old I saw mold discussing I did my practice my son didn't get in the water don't blame him I won't go again it looks like a homeless shelter read more

The saying goes "you get what you pay for." That is the absolute truth in this circumstance in dealing with the YMCA and their swim program,although cheaper than where we are used to it isn't worth it. I'd rather pay more. There have been so many inconsistencies since we began and we've only attended about three classes maybe four classes in which two of them have been canceled. (Not to mention the dirty masks left behind from previous classes that we also have to endure walking in today.) I am bringing my children from a very reputable swim school in which they both had semi private courses and the level of unprofessionalism and again inconsistencies at the YMCA's swim program is out of this world. I would never suggest another parent enroll their children into this program. It is unprofessional, the swim instructors are not very experienced in teaching the children and there is also an off balance between the instructor and student ratio in the swim program (also the tardiness with these instructors is ridiculous ).I'm sending this email with hopes that moving forward the swim program does adjust and make some essential changes especially if they are going to be offering services in which they charge parents to "teach" their children how to swim. August 23rd will be our last swimming class there at the YMCA. I did at some point consider fall registration but that won't be happening and I will be taking my children back to where we started. read more

this place is great, minus the creeps that hang around on the stairs outside. it has a pool that offers water exercise classes and open lap hours, sauna, showers, lockers- daily and yearly, a gym area that has new equipment and a separate room for weights and a speed bag, upstairs they have a gym for exercise classes and basketball hoops, friendly staff, inexpensive. only street parking though. read more

Putting a side the neighborhood which is not in the best area. I signed up my fiancée for swimming lessons. He is an adult beginner . The first time he got this great teacher. The second lesson she was not in and he got this guy that was not a good teacher at all. The classes he was taking where every Saturday once a week only. Then last Saturday we had another class where the teacher did not show up. He as in the pool and the "new" teacher was ok with him. Then in the middle of the class he got changed to another "new" teacher . This one had him doing thing opposite to the original teacher he as been with. On top of that mid stream through him swimming he let him go and he panicked. At this time I was very upset and told him just leave this is not fair for you or anyone getting these lessons. I understand it is a "group" class but students should have the same teacher. I also understand that a teacher can call in sick.. but don't give me a teacher that is now teaching everything opposite to what the other teacher has been doing.. more fair would be if we are not comfortable with the substitute teacher since they have no idea where the other teacher left off then let us have a make class. I explained that to a girl there since the manager also had called in that day. She argued with me saying it was a group class.. I explained to her that yes it is a group class but we are not teaching "text book" material where we can pick up on chapter 10 and everyone can read the same page, you are teaching swimming lessons where everyone is in different levels and as your regular teacher she would know how far to go or not. I gave my number to the girl and as of 5 days later I am still waiting for a call. Keep your money and stay away from this place. It is dirty, it runs terrible and you will not have the same teacher throughout your lessons. read more

Brought my family for a family swim to YMCA at Yonkers last Friday, turn out to be a let down experience. We could not use the pool because the management did not allow us to use. The swim director, chantel and the receptionist, Jashanah did not let us go in to swim. When we arrived the gym YMCA, the receptionist Jashanah asks about membership. Then, she made a phone call to the swim director, chantel and the Swim director told her that we are not allowed to go in for family swim. The receptionist, jashanah told me about the fees to enter. I told her I will pay for my family to enter. Then, the receptionist jashanah says the pool is full. I thought this is ridiculous and outrageous. I feel that the management fails to let us in for family swim, despite we were willing to pay. The swim director and the receptionist should not discriminate local families who want to access the pool. It's not up to them to judge who can access the pool. I feel that my right has been violated and they provide poor services to the public. This is a very bad experience as these two employees does not know how to tend to public families who want to use the gym. I would not recommend families to use this YMCA. read more
