It's been awhile since I've been to yo mamas but it was my daughters birthday and she chose to eat here. I usually order a big burger but it was lunchtime so I got me a patty melt. This is one of my favorites on the menu but today the bread was solid and hard to chew. The sandwich itself was a little dry too? It's normally really good. My daughter had the kids chicken tender meal and although I thought it was really small, she was happy so that's fine with me. The fries are good here. Service was ok except I hate to have to ask the waitress to refill our drinks especially when they aren't busy. I also like when we offered dessert instead of being asked if we're ready for the ticket. In my opinion yo mamas is just ok. We eat here about 3 or 4 times a year. And I haven't tried a lot of things on the menu other than the burgers and steaks. I did see the people next to us order a huge salad which looked great! I might order that next time! We were driving through Socorro, NM and yelping a good spot for lunch. Boy does this place deliver! Super busy which makes the service a bit delayed but very kind and friendly and apologetic for that. We had the starter of chips and green chili and queso....AMAZING!! Out of no where, this place serves some good food. I really enjoyed the homemade ceasar dressing with anchovies. I can drink this stuff. The greens were so hearty and super fresh. Someone grew these locally? The croutons were fresh. So entree comes with the choice of house salad with green pepper, onions and mixed salad and their homemade balsemc dressing or ranch or some other dressing on the side. Ceasar salad had 3 ingredients (dressing, greens, and croutons-that's it). I asked for parmesan cheese to sprinkle. Our entrees: 10 oz rib eye perfectly seared medium rare. Blackened catfish perfectly done. No additional sauces necessary. Homemade potato chips. A bit salty but its homemade! So good, thinly cut and not oily. Yo Moma's is by far one of the best restaurants in Socorro. I have ate there at least four times in two weeks. I've tried something different every time I have gone and I have not been disappointed. This is probably the best place in Socorro to grab lunch. We stopped for a quick bite on a road trip and we were glad we skipped the chain restaurants! We were immediately greeted by friendly staff members when we walked in and shown to a table. The waitress came by and quickly took our order within five minutes of us being seated. My boyfriend ordered the teriyaki chicken with a side of broccoli, while I ordered a veggie burger with avocado. The veggie burger was delicious! I routinely purchase veggie burgers from Costco and these were the same patties that are sold there (Morningstar Black Bean burgers). The burger came with sautéed mushrooms and onions and was heavy enough to fill me up, which is sometimes difficult to do on vegetarian food. My boyfriends teriyaki chicken was very small and the serving portion of broccoli was about a cup. He ended up eating most of my french fries because he was still pretty hungry after eating all his food, which is the only reason that I am giving this four stars. My food and the service we experienced were absolutely great and we would be happy to return again to try the fantastic looking pies! read more

Small town with a big deal restaurant. I'm always leery, especially trying a burger. But I caved and was as delighted with the Tech Burger as I was with their delectable fresh-made potato chips. Delicious! Our daughter is at Tech so we've gone out to dinner and lunch in Socorro several times. This was by far our best experience. My husband and visited twice during our stay in Socorro. Both times we had great service and enjoyed the food. The staff here is friendly and gave us great service. They were fast, checked on us regularly and kept our sinks full. the food was very good. Small house salad was fresh and delicious. On our first visit we had the blackened chicken sandwich the club sandwich. Both tasted great. The second visit we had the harvester hamburger and chopped steak were juicy and tasted great. TL; DR, Yo Mama doesn't know how to do STEAK. Period. Okay, guess who is on travel and came back to Yo Mama and ordered another ribeye steak?!. Anyway, first, the steak is a really bad cut, about 1/3 of the 14 oz is just fat and completely not edible. Second, the steak taste really blend and the best way to describe it is it is a piece of beef meat warmed up to medium rare temperature. Very dull and uninspiring. To be fair, Yo Mama has other food choices, and a lot of them looks fantastic, at least in the pictures. Service is good (they closed on Sat and Sun) too. So if you are visiting, I suggests you try something else. read more

Recommended to us, we stopped for lunch on the way to Al uquwrauw. Service was courteous and efficient which is rare in the era of post Covid service (or lack thereof). Salad was large and filling, but the crispy chicken had literally No-Zero-nada seasoning in the breading nor the chicken inside the breading. On the outside it looked like it MIGHT have pepper specks but non could be tasted. It literally was breaded chicken pieces-unsalted, unpeppered, unseasoned. Very disappointing The bBq dressing (I got on the side) was decent. And I suppose had they poured it over the salad I might not have noticed the bland chicken -but simply popping a piece in my mouth let me know it was tasteless Again-not horrific. We stayed in Socorro while traveling through New Mexico. We were recommended to try Yo Mama's' and we were so happy we did. This place is AMAZING! I had the chicken strips and fries and those were the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had a cheeseburger and chips. Both were so good and you won't leave hungry. We traveled on to other locations and found ourselves coming back to Socorro on our way back north and HAD to go back to Yo Mama's. What a great place to stop to eat on the road. We stopped here as a group on our way to Carrizozo and saw it was ranked number 1 on Yelp. What a fitting rating. The decor is lovely and very modern. Industrial, but rustic too. Very homey and comfy, clean and full of light. Staff is very attentive and absolutely friendly and lovely. We all just get really good and we're so pleasantly surprised a place like this existed in Socorro. So then there's the food. Everything else was great but we weren't sure how it would be. I ordered the green Chile chicken enchilada soup which was the special and I'm pretty sure I blacked out eating it because it was so good. Then had the crispy chicken salad - although it had too much cheddar on it, 'twas still a nice salad for a place like this.
