They generally have easy parking. I was especially happy on a night this month that we were having a birthday dinner for my daughter. She decided that she'd like a sushi night. Instead of trying to get trays, last minute, from a restaurant I ran into Fred Meyer to see what they had to offer. They had some great options ready made!! I chose a bunch of different trays and headed home to make a dinner spread. We added rice and pan fried noodles made at home and it was a great birthday dinner. Everyone was happy and a big bonus, that I ALWAYS worry about with raw fish items, no one had any upset stomachs. Safeway does get some decent sales and they are pretty well stocked which is nice. Thankfully they give out reusable plastic bags since their paper ones are terrible and fall apart immediately when you try to use them. Thankfully they do have motorized carts that were charged, not awkward to find and worked well. I definitely appreciate that.

I buy a lot of bulk items for meal prep- things like oats, flour, beans, rice, vegetables, etc. The prices here are awesome; in store, you'll pay about $2 a pound for oats (store brand) but here it's $1 for Bob's Red Mill organic oats. Same deal for other dry shelf goods- as someone getting into cheaper meal prepping, this really is the place to go for such deals. The store itself is very basic- concrete floors, high shelving, barebones customer service. It is meant for business customers but I come here for my house- they also carry industrial/commercial strength cleaners, kitchen equipment and janitorial supplies. They don't carry electronics, entertainment, prepackaged meals, clothing or anything else of that sort. I don't mind though- I just go elsewhere for those types of items. Depending on what you value, I'd say it is definitely worth coming to this store either as a business owner or individual.

First their selection sucks. Second the soda was flat like a two week old 2- liter left open. So I poured out the flavor to try another. I put a single shot in the bottom and it was the same. I told the owner, he tried them all showed me flat soda and told me they looked good but wouldn't even try it, then told me I had to pay for an empty cup.

I stopped in here on the way out to a venue in BFE to score a coconut water (yup, they have multiple kinds) and a Vitamin Water (they have that too) and encountered a somewhat surreal scene. Everyone rolling in to the shop seemed to be on a first-name basis with the two cashiers. But you know from they way they received me in a casual, friendly manner, it could be that they just have that vibe with everyone. Who knows? Regardless, this is your place to score anything from beer to snacks to sodas to some hot fried foods (burritos, jo-jo's, chicken, mozz-sticks, etc) to cigs to whatever. It's bigger than a 7-11 and has way more character. Could it be that Canby still has that home-town feel? Who knows. But the TNT sure does, and stopping in here was kind of a kick in the pants (to use a small-town saying). TNT = BOOM!

I wanted to share ongoing concerns about the customer experience at the Wilsonville, OR location,…read morespecifically regarding the staff member named Lulu who often oversees self-checkout. Each time we've encountered her, the interaction has been consistently unpleasant--she is abrupt, unfriendly, and does not greet customers or offer a simple thank you. Her way of communication is unprofessional and sometimes even unnecessary. I have also seen her leave customers waiting while she walks away to check a price that could have been quickly adjusted, accuse customers of being confused about pricing, argue about certain item and its price tag. Yet, when she knows someone personally, she becomes cheerful and engaging. The inconsistency is noticeable. This has been a repeated issue, and I hope it is addressed so that all customers receive respectful and helpful service. Other staff members on sale floors are generally friendly if you ask them to help, but not always helpful. Usually get the quick answer: "That's all we have."

Cashiers are friendly. We popped in last night to get a few last minute things at about 6:30 or 7. Self-checkout was closed early, so there was a very long line for the single, lonely cashier. Still, it looked like people were being patient and calmly waiting. Grabbing some sausage from the back of the store we could hear someone screaming profanities and throwing things around, or slamming things around. Retail sucks, we both worked many years at large retail chains, so we get it, and we just ignored it and let the guy have his moment out of the eye of customers. We got all 5 things we needed and headed to the front of the store. I picked up a loaf of bread off of the floor someone else had knocked down and just left; I joked to my friend that it would hopefully make the guy in the backroom have a marginally easier night. We lined up for checked out and someone at the front of the store slammed something down. It sounded like they just dropped an empty pallet, it was really startling. Then this employee just started coming UNHINGED, shouting over the store intercom at everyone that we needed to leave the store so he could close early because one of the other employees would be leaving in 5 minutes and he had too much sh-- to do. When he hung up the phone, he screamed that he wasn't joking and that we all needed to leave NOW as he cursed about how understaffed they were and how he had too much to do. The other two employees looked very uncomfortable, but didn't say anything. As he stormed back towards the stock room I got a very bad feeling and he literally triggered my fight or flight mode and I began to panic. My friend looked at me, confused about what to do, but I told him I really, REALLY did not want to get shot and dude was giving full-on going postal vibes/dude snapped and goes mass shooter vibes. It was one of the most terrifying situations I've been in since completing all of the surgeries and chemo for my cancer; I didn't survive all of that just to get lit up by some deranged Safeway worker with too much on his plate who clearly has no ability to cope with high stress situations. NOBODY should get mass shooter vibes off of a store employee. He shouldn't have been put in that position by management, but he also should have been vetted for his ability to handle stress before being moved up the ladder. It seemed that he was the person in charge on site at the time. I did my time in the trenches of retail and was a department manager at a huge chain for multiple black Fridays - I understand the stress. It's absolutely not for everyone. If you can't vet your leadership team and appropriately staff your store, we'll be at the Fred Meyer from now on. Absolutely appalling situation. I felt awful for the guy, but he had no right to strike fear into customers because he reacted violently and inappropriately to a run of the mill situation like being understaffed. You just cannot be kicking kiosks, dropping pallets, cursing and shouting at people and getting into a fist fight with a wall, or pallet in the backroom. Crashing out like that shows a lack of ability to control impulses and with so many people running around with guns, it's a recipe for disaster. Get this guy on leave for some mental health treatment options and start staffing your stores right. This never should have happened. Several other customers dropped what they had in line, and bailed to end up at Fred Meyers alongside us. Fix this!
