I have shopped at this Roth's grocery for nearly 40 years, even when another grocery was closer to my home. Years ago their service was exemplary. In the past 2-3 years I have seen the service go steadily down hill. Today was the worst. The checker rang up my purchase and I had set my reusable bag by the items rung up. While I was getting into my phone to do my payment, he stood and looked at me. After I completed my payment, he turned away and looked out toward the store; there was no one waiting in his or any other line. I considered just waiting to see if he would bag my purchase but decided that I'd had enough of declining service. It used to be there were checkers and baggers and the baggers took your purchase to your car for you and then would run your empty cart back into the store. Now, nearly all of the carts are sitting out in the parking lot. I've never been a fan of the other large grocery store in town, but the poor service at Roth's has convinced me it's time to change. read more

In a town loaded with.....nothing, Roth's is the best market you can find. This is the "Market of Choice" or "New Seasons" of markets in this area. Providing a much larger, more broad selection of everything than your every day Safeway. Bakery, Deli, Produce, Customer Service, everything is up to par!! I've came here plenty times over the past few years, and i've never had a bad experience, never thought I was getting hosed on having to pay too much. This place has a great selection of brews as well. They do promote the Seven Brides beer a lot though. I'm not a big fan of the Seven Brides beer, but I can respect the fact they're keeping it local and trying to help them out. Don't get it twisted though, they still offer great brews such as Ninkasi, Oakshire, Goodlife, etc... There really isn't many places to shop in Silverton, but if you're passing through, I suggest this place over any other! read more

This store is always clean and the employees are helpful and kind. The bakery in most Roth's is awesome, this one is no exception, they have the best custard filled donuts in Oregon. Cant remember if this location has a hot food area, but if so the Ruben sandwiches at Roth's are always delicious. The prices on groceries are high, but they tend to be cleaner and the employees are more helpful than at places like Kroger. read more

I really want to support local businesses, but this one kinda makes it hard to. The crap-ton of bright yellow signage out front and throughout the store regarding store COVID policies and whatever is tacky and unwelcoming. The on-again/off-again policy of one person per party in the store is non-inclusive, and they are instituting barriers to accessing services by closing the recycling machines. God forbid anyone catch COVID from an empty soda can. read more

I stopped by here a couple of times while staying in Silverton for a few days. It's a grocery store that looks like any other grocery store, but has a focus on supporting local products and producers. The prices are cheaper than Whole Foods, but more expensive than Fred Meyer, while still having a great selection of organic foods and products. The service here has been fine to really good, it just depends on the day, the person you deal with and what section of the store they are working in (ie the lady in the cafe was really nice). read more

There are two main grocers in Silverton; Roth's and Safeway. I rate Roth's slightly ahead of the Safeway simply because Roth's closed on Thanksgiving to allow ALL employees to spend the day with their families. That says something about a business who claims to care about people. read more

Based on a review I'd seen about the food in the hot deli at Roth's, we decided to try out lunch there today. I was hungry for a burger and was not disappointed with lunch! Nice store, the original even here, pricing a little high but you get a paper bag with handles ! Service is excellent still. The Saturday morning breakfast can't be beat = Two eggs cooked the way you like, 2 sausage or bacon , excellent hash browns or homefries and toast as you like it for $4.99 including gratuity? , on a real plate, with real silverware! Love it, love it, love it. High quality produce displayed in an artful fashion, at prices that don't insult, makes me happy. When I need unusual gourmet items they don't always have them, but more often than not I can get what need to pull off an elegant dinner party. Almost more important, I feel respected and appreciated by the classy customer service warmly offered at Roth's. Sometimes I just go in there for a jar of artichoke hearts but wind up with that and a sunny mood, to boot. I like this store. It's clean, the employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The food in the deli, produce and meat departments are always fresh. I love the essence of community and the bulletin board. I love the green bow ties, because bow ties are cool. I love the way they still ask you if you want paper or plastic. And take my groceries out for me. I'm always in a great mood here! However, the bottle return is always a pain in the ass. It seems like the employees are always in a sour mood, and drag their feet, when it comes to the bottle return. And for good reason. those machines are a pain... But you know why? Because cleaning and maintenance on those machines, I noticed, are few and far between. which makes the quick fixes (like shaking the cans down so there is more room) more frequent. Which in turn i imagine frustrates the employees that have to fix it all the time. and the bad moods of the employees puts customers in bad moods.... ugh. Any store's bottle return is hectic, and I get that. But the bottle return here just sucks. Maybe they need to assign a person to JUST wok in the bottle return or something. cause like I said bottle returns anywhere are hectic and NEED a worker to fix them constantly. Not just when customers have to track someone down. I'll even volunteer. The bottle return is what takes my 5 star review down to a 4. read more
