My favorite grocery store.. great products and excellent customer service! Thank you!

I was excited to come here and check it out. This place is packed to the gills. Every part of this store has something for sale. It makes it look not clean. It wasn't until a got home and realized something I bought only had one more week of shelf life on it. I decided my daughter and I would go check out another market after coming here and will definitely be going back to that one instead. It was more organized, and felt clean. read more

I'm giving this place one star because I drove all the way across Salem to get to the store on Sunday during opening hours, and they were closed. There was a sign on the front door that said they would be back at 3 o'clock. That meant I had to wait an hour. Instead I decided not to shop there. I simply went to blocks to the west and went to the other nearby Asian market. There I found somebody inside the store very nice and willing to help me. How does anybody expect to stay in business when they're not there for their customers??? It may be five stars on the inside, but it's one star on the outside! read more

I love the new building that Que Huong is in. It's like moving into a new apartment where everything is very clean and organized (at first, let's hope it stays that way). They had a very large selection for a medium sized store. I found my favorite Ichiban Ramen there which was 50 cents cheaper than Safeway, and some really good Kim Chee - MSG free! Uwajimaya in Beaverton has the same kim chee but now I don't have to drive to Beaverton just to get this. Also picked up some pickled daikon and carrots which go great in vietnamese french style sandwiches with pate, a package of deep fried tofu which my kids love to eat as a snack or with ramen(you can choose from plain and with onion) and even some frozen taro! read more

As one of the longest standing Asian grocery stores in Salem, Que Huong has been a foundation for all Vietnamese / Asian businesses / families in the area offering low cost groceries and saving many from having to drive 1 hour north to Portland. Service has always been great here and the prices are extremely reasonable. Sadly, this place has been subject to vandalism due to the shady area. The place is a bit on the dingy side with a hole in the wall look and limited parking. I hope it will remain one of the better spots to shop for Asian groceries. read more

The selection of fresh fruit and vegetables from south east Asia has been beautifully curated. Small portions are available so that you can add the perfect amount of that special ingredient to your favorite dish with no need for unnecessary waste. A small to medium sized store that is jam packed with goodies. It's well organized, clean, and has a wide selection of sauces, canned goods, frozen fish and other foods, and house ware items. At least to my white bread, corn-fed gaze! :) I popped in to get some cooking basics with a vision of spring rolls in my future. As always happens, a few interesting things just had to come home with me. I also picked up some fresh spring rolls and salad rolls near the counter. (Lunch!) When I got to the counter, the woman helping me perused my choices, and asked me a few questions about what I liked. She the asked if I'd tried a certain sauce, she thought I'd like it. She said she used it on everything, almost like an American uses ketchup. She took me to it, suggested some uses, and I was happy to try it. And she's right... I dipped my spring rolls in it once home and it was awesome. So I literally got more than I bargained for. I hadn't ever been in here before, but will certainly be back again! read more

Awesome Asian market. I needed egg roll wrappers and some miso soup and they had a variety of other products as well. Very friendly staff. I will come back to try the Banh Mi next time I'm in the area. Thank you Que Houng for serving Salem with fresh Asian food and products. This is a great resource for Salem. I used to be a fan of A Dong, but it has changed.

If I could give absolutely no stars I would. - You can skip down to the WORST PART if you want to find out what the owner did to me. Honestly. I went to this Market last Thursday ( one week ago ) and tried to pay with my Debit Card The cashier/owner said " Wheres your cash when I offered my debit card" Why? I replied Do you not take debit cards? She said she didn't want to take my card. I reluctantly paid cash. Funny enough I got back towards home in South Salem I realized that I no longer had my Debit Card. Immediately I called the market acknowledging that it was the last place I visited. The same casheir picked up the phone and I then explained who I was and what had happend. She said that she recalled who I was and then admitted that she was the one who did not offer my debit card back during the transaction keeping it behind the register. Being a human and once a cashier I completely understood and realized that this is common. So I informed her I was going out of town that evening and would be back as soon as I could sometime next week. THE WORST PART of having my debit card held by the cashier Transportation Unfortunately my car became out of commission over the weekend. Not only do I need my debit card to get it fixed I also need it to pay other bills its my only bank account. I just got off the phone with the same cashier trying to explain to her my circumstance. I told her it would be nice if she would mail the card or even offering the card informatiom. She replied Take a Taxi I then asked if she would be willing to pay for half of the fare at least because she was the one at fault. She refused. I understand why she didn't want to pay for the fare ( I would not either) or even give out the information... But to be unwilling to drop it in the mail. I cannot understand I then asked again if she would be willing to mail me my debit card across town. Assuring her it would only cost her one stamp and maybe 5 minutes of her own time she said oh my god like it was a huge hassle and told me to call the cops and have them drive me across town if I couldn't find any one to bring me there. * The bus would have been my second suggestion As a college student with no family in the area to ask help from I didn't appreciate the total lack of respect and the disregard for my over all well being. Don't you think as a business owner you would be willing to do a simple thing like mailing out a customers card. Especially when you were the one at fault. Instead the market owner became very defensive and hostile towards me and started accusing me and blaming me for the circumstance at hand and then begin to tell me she then could not remember me anymore and know didn't what I was talking about. I guess im thankful she has not thrown the card away. Because before she hung up she said she still had my card. Literally this store owner isn't very nice and her actions do not make much sense. I would rather support conscious community markets who have good common sense and respect for their customer base. I really hope you do yourself a favor and do the same!! They just moved across the street into a MUCH better building, and it is so nice. They have the same stock, but it is much more roomy, with extra refrigerated space and plenty of room for shoppers to browse. The employees are very nice and very helpful. I think their prices are great, and you can get stuff that I never would have thought could be found in Salem. read more

I was looking for a sauce that I couldn't find in the shelves and asked the owner and she was rude. I left the basket with goods that I was carrying and walked away. There's a lot of asian market in town. This people just doesn't know customer service! I hate this place! And oh for their tag price it is cheaper on the other Asian grocery store. This is the place to go when you want to go for Asian foods. They have everything! All kinds of vegetables and alwasy fresh! Many kinds of curries from Indian curry to Thai, to Japanese..., spices..., noodles... and all kinds of sauces. I found Korean spicy BBQ, Philippinese, gluten free soysauce...and many more. The prices here are also very reasonable! The store is new and clean! The staff is nice and helpful! I am very happy that we have a nice store like this in Salem! read more

Que Hong is a great place when you need Asian food supplies, from Vietnamese to Chamorro Islander dishes. And the service is great. The folks there, some speak fluent English, and some adequate, but all are warm and friendly and eager to make your shopping experience worthwhile. I switched from Wing Wa, a few blocks away, because at Que Hong, they'll drop everything for you...with a smile. I recommend Que Hong to everyone I know.!! read more

I like all staff except the much older man who really gives you the "eye" like we are criminals. My girlfriend and my 50+ year old self ,both felt very uncomfortable with the way he goes out of his way to stare you down the whole time he has you in his bird's eye view and even follows us around while we are in the store. Never a smile from him only a scowl. Thank goodness we've only encountered him once thus far. The other semi older guy staff we've seen in there was very kind and helpful..We are Caucasian yet we still spend good money there without stealing a single item.. read more
