This review is mainly focused on their deli/sushi section of the store. I stop in this location regularly to grab items to make dinner or a quick grab of a few items. They generally have easy parking. I was especially happy on a night this month that we were having a birthday dinner for my daughter. She decided that she'd like a sushi night. Instead of trying to get trays, last minute, from a restaurant I ran into Fred Meyer to see what they had to offer. They had some great options ready made!! I chose a bunch of different trays and headed home to make a dinner spread. We added rice and pan fried noodles made at home and it was a great birthday dinner. Everyone was happy and a big bonus, that I ALWAYS worry about with raw fish items, no one had any upset stomachs. I've always been happy with meats, cheeses, grab and go items, and now the sushi from this specific store. read more

Absolutely hate this location! The cashier manager is such a b!tch and should not be in customer service whatsoever she's a rude little troll who disrespects customers and basically calls them a liar without saying it. I had a legitimate question and complaint, and when I told her to check the cameras to back up my complaint, she blatantly ignored me and disregarded what I said. I am not even sure as to why she is even employed here she dose absolutely nothing when I see her other then stand around. The last time I seen her here I am 100% sure she was talking bad about me and my family to a coworker. I've even had a conversation with the store manager about this and nothing has changed I honestly believe at this point she is discriminating against me and my family when we come in by having the bagger move to a different line just to piss me off because I reported her. WHAT CAN SAY WHAT they can improve on... well let's start with the shitty employees. Leaning up against the post or sitting on a bar stool at their register, I can see if they were in the much older group to have a seat at register BUT NOT THESE LAZY PUNKS literally sitting on their stool on their phones most likely on Grindr hook up site & sites alike. Then when you go to their check out they know ur standing in front of you but they fricken think you have to wait when they're ready. I rarely go to Fred Meyers to do any shopping but I do get their gas all the time because it's cheaper & go into store if I had to tinkle or a soda if that. It's not any better at pumps. Did our first pick up order today, everyone knows I am not a fan of grocery shopping! I was pretty hesitant on ordering produce but wow was I shocked when the strawberries, broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, and mushrooms were all amazing quality. They were all like I hand picked them myself! They came out and even loaded all my groceries for me! Used to love going here for one stop shopping for everything but lately the store has not been stocked with fruits, vegetables and herbs. It's made it a bit frustrating not being able to get essential produce and going elsewhere for ingredients. The quality or produce available has not been great either. I really appreciate the variety of offerings from this store and the fact that they hire and train local youth to work here and perhaps move up in the chain. My favorite sections are produce (great choice of fresh, organic veggies), garden (Fuchsia Saturday!), and natural foods (great prices on vitamins, Avalon products). Even when they're busy, the customer service is on point and helpful. It's always clean, well-organized, and well-stocked. If and when I've had to return something, it's been an easy, pleasant experience. read more

Frankly, Fred Meyer has the best grocery prices in Canby. Having said that, their new Lower Prices campaign is a bit of a scam. For example, broccoli at 99 cents a pound would be a decent price, but it is carefully trimmed to be mostly stalk and not florets, so you're actually paying about double that for usable food. Even worse, I bought chicken there yesterday at $1.99 a pound for boneless breasts. I bought three packages of about four pounds each. When we took the chicken out of the packages we noticed the empty packages felt very heavy....so we weighed them. They averaged a full pound of just packaging. That's ridiculous and borderline criminal. It brings the ACTUAL per pound cost to about $2.60. I'm posting a picture of one of the empty packages on our kitchen scale so you see they're really doing it. It's the modern day equivalent of the butcher with his thumb on the scale. read more

Kind of a small store compared to the other ones I've shopped at. I like it. The store is really clean and it looks like they can usually restock the shelves in the grocery section. Most of the staff is really friendly especially those who work over in the deli. Lucas who technically work at Starbucks inside the store is outstanding. Oster who saved out the job of retrieving grocery carts should stop taking cologne shower and maybe focus on there are customers in the store. He seemed pretty oblivious to blocking my way twice in one shopping trip. It look like he was rather busy chatting with his friends/coworkers. read more

The following really goes for ALL Fred Meyer (FM) stores. The checkers are clearly trained to ask if the customer has found everything they were looking for. To be honest, it's a useless gesture. If the reply is "no", because it's something FM doesn't carry, that's really all the farther it goes. I've gone to Customer Service asking for certain items to be stocked... nothing. I've gone to Dept. Managers... nothing. The standard answer is, "that's determined by 'corporate' and we have no real say in the matter". So to "corporate" I say, stop having the checkers (and everyone else in the stores) ask pointless questions if you have no intention of TRULY listening to the answer. FM used to have fantastic selection, but since the buyout by Kroger, it's been going downhill. For example: go to the cookie section. Sure, there's 15 different kinds of chocolate chip cookies. Great, as long as one doesn't hate chocolate; suddenly your choices are down to around five. Fingernail files... they're all the same type, except the color. THAT'S NOT A SELECTION! Yogurt: boy you'd better be knee-deep or higher into the Greek Yogurt FAD because 7/8 of the inventory is just that. Otherwise, there's only three or four to choose from. All the brick-and-mortar stores are wondering why they're losing so much business to Amazon... Gee, I don't wonder. read more

Now not only do you want me to scan, bag, cashier myself, oh no now you want to charge me for a little cash back. Cash back on purchases made at groceries stores has been a staple for decades and decades. These days its safer than ever for you to give cash back because money comes out of accounts immediately, no more writing a check, waiting for the bank to process it and 2 weeks later it gets returned to you. It's not a bad store. It seems pretty clean and inventory is decent. The real deal breaker here is the lack of freshness in the produce section. I live in Wilsonville so don't shop at this one much, but so far all of the produce I've purchased here was old. A few weeks ago I bought a cantaloupe that was mushy and nasty. Thinking this must be a fluke, yesterday I bought some apples. Today I ate one and they're old and soft. At any other store, I always check for freshness but every Fred Meyer store I've ever shopped at had such good produce I've gotten used to not checking. So, decent store but you want to check the freshness of what you buy there. read more

I see I'm not the only one disappointed by Fred Meyer's so called new low prices. I was there today and as noted in another review, their current tactics are very low handed. The broccoli on "sale" for 99 cents a pound has had most of the florets trimmed away leaving mostly just stalk. That's broccoli stalks for 99 cents a pound. Cutsforth's, the local market, has much higher prices, but I'd rather straight up pay more than have a company try to bamboozle me. I never thought to write a review for my Fred Meyer until I got treated poorly at a home improvement store tonight. We'll say it sounds like "Grows". Anyway, I was so upset by being ignored time and again (I go there because it is a lot closer to me than Home Depot) that I found myself thinking "I wish they had the same customer service training as Fred Meyer employees". Honestly. You can see that in my review of them. I grew up on Fred Meyer, starting with the one in Oak Grove and then the Clackamas store. Now I shop at Tualatin, Tigard and Canby. Call me needy, but I love that they greet you, ask if they can help you and actually walk you to the items you are looking for! I don't get that treatment at "Grows" and find myself feeling like I have to beg for service, whereas at Freddie's, I feel like even just my 1 gallon of milk purchase is important. In the grand scheme of things, I should try to find all my home improvements needs here, because I have noticed that stuff like paint is competitively priced at Freddie's. The photo electronic guys at the Tigard store have even offered to price match Walgreen's. Really, I just need to stick with Fred Meyers. I have gotten to know staff at Canby and they treat me like friends. As do the staff at Clackamas who treat my parents like family. To Kroger I say, give your people some props, because their service far surpasses similar stores, who only seem to make eye contact if you look like you are going to make a big purchase. read more

Biggest convenience store for this little town :) I am thankful to have a place within driving distance where I can find a "Health Food" section to by ingredients for myself and others I know with food alergies. It has been such a relief to find some variety. This Freddie's is decent, but parking can be an absolute nightmare pretty much any time of day. I don't think i've ever been here when it hasn't been packed full of shoppers. That said, the cashiers are super friendly and they seem to have a good inventory of most things. I've purchased everything from craft beer, to kitty litter, to crochet hooks and metallic gel pens here. It really is a one-stop-shop. Today, while and about, I stopped into this location to use the restroom, and pretend I'm a customer by strolling the electronic section for any possible clearance bargains for the PS2. Freddy's electronics section is usually pretty "blah," "meh," or "eh." It's open late, so thats a plus (see: spur of the moment run on a Saturday night at 10:30 to get a copy of NCAA Football 08). Unfortunately, the selection is below normal, and prices are no different than Best Buy, Target, etc. I found a jewel of a game (to me) called Rail Simulator in the PC games section. I would figure this would be a game found only at a place like Fry's, but sure enough Fred Meyer pulled through. I'll look like a certified jackass if RS is stocked at any electronics store/section at say, Tanasbourne. But at least my pit stop at this location had opportunity knocking to get a new PC game to go home with. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. The Store follows NO covid restrictions, letting maskless people shop, and barely following cleaning restrictions (they only clean self checkout once an hour). I have seen MULTIPLE people MULTIPLE visits shoping maskless, despite a sign at the door saying NO MASK NO ENTRY. I have spoken with several employees, and they just shrug and say "we can't force them to mask up".... UNACCEPTABLE. Worst ever. 6 pm at night on a weekday, they have 2 check outs 6 deep, and on both sides self check out 6 deep. They are forcing you to use self check out like Lowe's and home Depot. Prices keep going up, why since they have less help. People are so slow in self check out, so are some of the clerk's, but I refuse to use self check out. You have increased your prices, stock less of your product selling out shelf space...someone is pocketing a lot of money..I refuse to shop here anymore read more

Unfriendly to seniors. They used to have a 10 item or less line. Now the lines are long and slow or you are expected to check and bag your own stuff which requires being able to read the codes on the produce without magnifiers. Fred meyer is one of the best places to shop in Canby because they have a little of everything. They have a starbucks inside so start out with a coffee and then browse. It's hard to tour the store without finding a cartful of stuff you can't live without. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT buy something and pay for the delivery. Everyone that works at the store are completely ignorant about the service. It's impossible to call the place to see what the problem is. I bought a couch on Saturday. Was told it was all in stock and would be delivered on Wednesday. Now it's Thursday and I had to call and complain to finally get the delivery service to call me and tell me the opposite what I was told in the store. They don't have it in stock and they are supposedly delivering it Monday. I want to just cancel it and burn the place to the ground, but I feel like that would be counter productive. I'm giving this a one because I find the customer service to be terrible and misleading. The workers are always so nice, and them working during a global pandemic and putting their lives at risk for us to get our groceries is amazing. However, I saw EIGHT people tonight not wearing a mask. Just strolling around while everyone else is clearly wearing a mask. If you cannot do the bare minimum of simply WEARING A TINY MASK while you are shopping for what? 30 minutes?? Then you should NOT BE OUT. You should be denied service. We are ALL in this together. It's really not rocket science people. Fred Meyers literally has an ad playing overhead saying they require all shoppers and staff to wear a mask and if you can't they suggest curbside pickup or grocery delivery (can't remember the exact words), but they don't actually STRICTLY ENFORCE it. So basically anyone could go into their store and not wear a mask, free for all for all. It's okay to deny people service for not wearing an mask, especially when you have an ad broadcasting that they are mandated. ALSO it was busy tonight (Tuesday night at 5:30 the night before Oregon goes into a two week Covid freeze) my mother and I were waiting in a LONG line as there were only two people scanning groceries. I was looking for citric acid to make some bath bombs I found on Pinterest. Searching online as what stores may sell it, was not very eventful, and I decided to look in FM. I looked in the canning section but was not successful, so I stopped at the Pharmacy to ask the Pharmacist where I might buy some. He was super helpful! Not only did he take the time to answer my question about citric acid, he made time in his busy schedule to come out from behind the counter, and walked with me to several isles where he thought it might be located at. In a last ditch effort he asked the person in the health food section, and sure enough, they had a large container in the bulk food section where I was able to purchase the amount I was looking for.
