She teaches seven (7) days a week at around 10AM each day (see schedule below.) She does builds both strength and peace in your body simultaneously. I do not understand how you can work so hard in a class, an d also leave with more energy than when you arrived. I have arrived many times exhausted and left with a good solid energy level to face my day. I have arrived sad and left happy. I have had classes where I feel like I took a one week vacation, that is how deep my relaxation went. Rosemary deeply cares about people, her students, the world and YOGA. She is a true Yogi, the last of her kind, a dying breed. I cannot say enough good things about her, except to say that I feel like being in her presence itself bring light and peace. She is the sort of person, that you are better just for having the opportunity to be around her. She is extremely dedicated to each and every student and works tirelessly one on one with people, especially beginners. She is very encouraging of ALL people, many of her students are older. She is naturally body positive - not that she would even know what the word means- she is just too busy embodying it. You will lower your stress, get stronger, have fun, find connection and all in a beautiful place next to the river flowing just outside the studio - the river you can position yourself to watch from class. As a first class after my thanksgiving gluttony, I really appreciated the core, hips and lower back practice this past friday. The space itself is also excellent. There is a lot of natural light and the spaces on the floor are marked off with tape, so people fit themselves in symmetrically, without having to be told to make room by the teacher before a class starts. I've been an occasional visitor to Yoga Great Barrington over the past few years, and have always had a great experience- a good community vibe, great instruction and never over-crowded. I'm bubbling over with gratitude for Barbara and Alison at Woodstock Yoga Center…read more I went as a visitor from NYC for two 9:30am classes straight and miss these powerful-women-vibes already. First, Barbara-absolutely hilarious; but don't mess around because your laughter will be tempered with an incredibly attentive eye. Thank you Barbara for being so warm and inviting, but also for pushing my edge (and my sacrum into its right place!). I came home to the East Village (where everyone in Woodstock is apparently from) and immediately purchased her book rec Light on Yoga. Second, Alison-also incredibly hilarious and the most cheerful, energetic yoga instructor ever. As I awkwardly watched the rest of the class hopping themselves into handstands, she said to me, "Come here, my little friend," and then she proceeded to post me up in a doorway. Somehow, someway, this woman had me closer to a handstand than I have ever been-and without fear. She kept saying things like, "You can do it. I saw you over there. There's no reason you can't. This foot here. This foot there." And then I did it. Back in Manhattan, I spent an hour between two walls-pushing myself up, up, up. This is coming from someone terribly afraid of the upside down world. Much gratitude and I'll be back with bells on. Edge. Pushed. I was really nervous to walk into a regular yoga class with absolutely no experience so this was perfect for me! I LOVED the beginner series; Rebecca, the instructor, did a beautiful job teaching proper form and all of the basic poses one should know in order to feel confident walking into any yoga class. She is incredibly knowledgeable about ALL aspects of yoga and can offer you any modifications that you may need. I was so impressed with Rebecca and this series that I did a second round of it! Now, I attend Rebecca's regular Saturday morning flow class and can't say enough good things about it! Yoga has done so many great things for me both physically and mentally in the short time I've been practicing, and I have Heartspace and Rebecca to thank for that!
