I remember spending a lot of time at the snack bar. Go figure. Anyways, banquet hall we were housed in for the event was spacious and well kept. The tables were in good order and the chairs comfortable enough. The building offered a stage, clean restrooms, an area for the caterer to set up, and a good sounds system. The staff at the front as you walk into the building were welcoming and friendly. There are several parking lots and one adjacent to the banquet hall we were in. The land escaping immediately around the building we were in was very nice, but I did notice that the gold course needed some TLC. The grass was very uneven and not well kept up.

The damage was so severe, a big remodel is needed. Yet all that was told to my family and I was about minor work: new carpet, wall painting, new doors, updated drape holders, and the remodel will be done in a couple weeks. It has now been 3 different "completion dates", and not once we were told by the coordinator. We had to reach out every time and ask what exactly is going on there. Basically, there is not a 100% guaranteed date whatsoever when the work will be done (approximate completion is mid April.) Needless to say, MY WEDDING IS COMPLETELY CHANGING VENUES WITH ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY!!!! (Pitiful stress and anxious memory I'll always remember.) Thankfully I found out from my CATERING VENDOR that all March & most April events were being postponed &/or canceled. So the coordinator can notify other renters but not us? Really. I definitely feel ignored knowing we were reaching out and keeping in touch about the remodel... I've been more overwhelmed with wedding planning in the past 24 hours verses in the past year. Especially after speaking with quite a few places and knowing my venue budget could double with very slim options left... Good luck to those renters. You will need it!!!

They highlight all their dancers and not just keep a spotlight on one. The owners are also very involved and want the best for their dancers, not only performance wise, but also in school and psychosocially. The high-quality training makes this studio a standout for anyone looking to excel in dance while also feeling at home and most importantly, be themselves. One of the biggest advantages is being able to get in, get my workout done, and get out without dealing with long waits for machines. I visit several YMCA locations depending on where my errands take me, and this location has always been a convenient stop for an hour-long workout. Unfortunately, I've had two separate interactions with the same front desk employee that left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. About a week ago, I was sitting in the pool area taking an emergency phone call. The area was completely empty, and the facility wasn't scheduled to close for roughly another 40 minutes. The front desk employee approached me and abruptly stated, "We are closing, I need to lock this area." To be clear, I had no issue with the area being closed or needing to leave. My concern was entirely with the delivery. As many of us know, it's often not what you say but how you say it. A simple, "Excuse me, we're preparing to close this area and I need to lock it up," would have been perfectly fine. Instead, the tone and facial expression came across as unnecessarily harsh. I gathered my belongings and left without argument, but even the person on the emergency call immediately asked, "Who was that?" after hearing the interaction. When I explained what had happened, they also commented on how rude the tone sounded. I've been a longtime YMCA member and have visited many locations over the years, and I've never left feeling the way I did that day. Then during a more recent visit, I brought my two teenage sons with me. After scanning my membership card, the same employee stopped me and asked, "Who do we have here with you?" while looking directly at my membership profile. My sons are listed on my account, and their photos are visible on my profile. I answered with their names, but she repeated the question louder. I then repeated their names louder as well, and only then did she respond with, "Okay." The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational, especially in front of my children. They are 15 and 17 years old and more than capable of confirming their own names if verification was needed. The exchange felt awkward and embarrassing, and even my sons immediately asked me afterward, "What's wrong with her?" I honestly didn't have an answer. I want to be fair and acknowledge that I don't know this employee personally, nor do I know what may have been going on in her day. However, after two separate encounters, I do believe there is room for growth in how members are approached and spoken to. Sometimes when people become comfortable in a position, customer service can become mechanical, and the human element gets lost. I would also be dishonest if I didn't acknowledge how the interactions made me feel. As an African-American woman, I couldn't help but wonder whether there was an underlying bias influencing the way I was being treated. I hope that is not the case. However, the contrast between these private interactions and the otherwise welcoming atmosphere of the YMCA left me questioning whether I was being viewed differently than other members. With that said, every other staff member I've encountered has been kind, helpful, and accommodating. The YMCA itself continues to be a wonderful community space. I love seeing both the older and younger generations working out together, participating in programs, and building a sense of community. That's one of the things that makes this location special. Overall, I still appreciate this YMCA and everything it offers. However, these experiences have made me reconsider when I visit. Going forward, I may choose to come earlier in the day or adjust my schedule altogether if these interactions continue. I genuinely hope this feedback is received in the spirit it's intended--not as an attack, but as an opportunity for improvement. Great facilities are built not only on equipment and programs, but also on how members are made to feel when they walk through the door.

There is only one person that I have run across so far that always friendly he is younger bigger guy but I haven't learned his name yet. The downside that I experienced today is that too many parents treat it as daycare, while they sit and doom scroll on their phones the entire time rather than watch their own children. Maybe the solution is more staff on site to enforce safety for ALL, and possibly color coded wristbands to help locate children and their parents quicker. When I was there there was only one young lady who was working, and she was doing what she could in terms of cleaning and helping guests. The 4 and under area seemed to be overran by kids who seemed older than 4 and were rough housing. Did not feel safe to have my 1 year old playing in the same vicinity. Children possibly between the ages of 5-7 walking on the ledge of the ball pit area and jumping onto the inflatable obstacle course. I was worried if they lost their balance walking on the ledge they would've landed on my daughter who was sat playing in the ball pit. One older boy, around 5-6 years old forcefully moved my 1 year old's hand from an item they both wanted, and parents nowhere to be found or redirect the behavior. So, I instead moved my daughter to a different area. One parent seemed to have stayed on his computer with headphones in the ENTIRE time while we were there, and I never saw him get up to check on his children the hour that we were there. Safety should be the priority for everyone and parents sitting there staring at a screen is totally unfair to the parents who are near their children the entire time, as this place claims it should be. We did enjoy it, though it seemed more stressful trying to make sure the other older children didn't accidentally hurt my child while their parents' face remained glued to a screen.
