This is my so long, farewell, thank you note to Yoga Source. During the 5 years I practiced there regularly, I went from a total yoga newbie to total devotee and witnessed the studio evolve. Through several remodels, they've made the most out of the space. And with a weekly schedule packed with tons of class options (even on the weekends), teachers like Mara and Johnny always kicked my butt and set high standards for form/technique. Johnny is probably the teacher that I'll compare all others against. No matter how many students in class, he always manages to keep tabs on everyone - safety for some, challenge for others - and reward your savasana with a neck or foot rub. Classes can get packed like sardines - which speaks to how popular they are if not conducive to those with personal space issues. Another drawback is the limited parking - the stress I'd get from circling and circling while watching the clock tick closer to class start time! Now that I've moved away, I'll miss my Yoga Source fix, but will leave my recipe for a blissful start to the weekend: Go for a Saturday morning Bikram class with Johnny to detox from the night or week before. Parking is much more reasonable in the morning. Leave the studio feeling like a wrung-out ragdoll and head to the Whole Foods 4 blocks away for a healthy breakfast (or those sinful biscuits). And wonder how you ever survived a workweek without that yoga high. read more

This remains my favorite yoga studio because of the fantastic instructors and they offer physically challenging classes as well as serene, meditative classes that will undue all the knots in your muscles. Johnny and Mara will give you a great workout. Lorraine, John and Jennifer offer blissful Yin classes. The only minuses are certain classes get too crowded and Jennifer uses overly strong smelling essential oils in her classes. Note to management, not everyone likes the same fragrances. You ask us not to wear perfume, it would be nice if all classes were scent free too! Whenever I'm having a rough day I come here to recharge. I always feel better after a class here. read more

This is the best Bikram studio I have been to. There are several reasons, but here are just a few: *Doesn't smell like funk *20's jazz before class starts *Don't have to pay for a mat *Getting lifted up by the ankles while you are in bow *It isn't Nazi-Bikram: sometimes we get to do child's pose, or even splits (I think Bikram would be pissed if he knew) *A little neck-rub with lavender oil during final shavasana They have a number of classes other than Bikram that are also Excellent. I'm a bit wary of Shastri though, who just about broke me in half one day... Just watch out for that. read more

Yogasource has the least yoga energy of the studios I've tried in RWC, MP and Palo Alto. The classes I've been to here don't allow for chanting or om'ing--only "aaaahhing" which seems a little absurd. Yoga originated in India, after all. If people don't want to "Om", don't om, but don't negate the existence of the practice! Also, Yogasource doesn't do a lot of pranayama (at least not the classes I've taken), and that is an essential part of the (authentic) practice. The vibe here is a bit competitive--lots of hard-bodied jocks checking themselves out in the mirrors. Also, it gets crowded, cramped, and stinky from all the hot yoga classes. HOWEVER I recently discovered a couple wonderful classes at YS that stand in contrast to the above review--Mark's Monday night Ashtanga class and Giselle's Tuesday morning Jivamukti class. I go to YS for these two classes. Both are excellent. read more

One thing I love about practicing Bikram Yoga is that you can be anywhere on the planet and the sequence and your expectations will be the same. I was visiting PA recently and found this studio on Yelp, and was happy to see that they had a Bikram class in the mornings. Love the location, easy free street parking in the AM, and the foyer was nice as well. Helpful staff, and reasonable drop in rate of $18/class. Hardwood floors and the studio space with front and side mirrors are very nice. The studio is large and well ventilated. No BO! :) Changing area and bathroom was super tiny. Now maybe I've become accustomed to the fascist yoga regime of Portland, Oregon, but a few things surprised me about this studio. First, why are students allowed to bring handbags and other potentially distracting items into the studio when there are storage lockers available? One woman's phone actually rang multiple times (before she answered it) during the first half of class. Second, why are students allowed to enter the class after class has started? We were just about to finish the first set of breathing and a new student came into the class to set up her mat and got situated. In all the Bikram studios I've practiced before, the doors lock when class starts and you definitely aren't supposed to bring personal items like cell phones into class with you. Johnny is an enthusiastic instructor and I could tell he's beloved by the students at this studio. I did appreciate my classes at Yoga Source, I was just surprised by some of the distractions that may be the norm here. As an outsider they were more evident to me. read more

Jennifer, Johnny, Denise, Mariya, Hesham. My. Go. Tos. What I love about Yoga Source is the $40 for 30 deal: it's for new students and you get thirty days of consecutive UNLIMITED yoga. So I got to try out all of the classes that I wanted, whenever I wanted. So let's start with the hot yoga classes: Bikram (Johnny) Hot Pilates (Mariya) and Yoga Sculpt (Hesham). Every time I would go and introduce myself to the instructor just to let them know it was my first time and they are so sweet. Johnny's Bikram class pushes you, and it's nice that he constantly motivates all of us to give it our all, knowing that we can push our bodies, but to remind ourselves of our limits. Haseem's Yoga Sculpt class kicked my butt in the best way possible. Think flows with weights, with a HILARIOUS instructor. I would almost fall off of my mat bc of how funny he is, and not only that he made me feel so included when he kept motivating me with shoutouts! As for the alternative, I loved the restorative classes here. Denise and Jennifer are AMAZING yin teachers, both with calming voices and they use the most amazing essential oils. They encourage you to trust your body, and I leave this class in a relaxed bliss. Also, drop ins are $15 for students!! Yay!! My favorite yoga place in the bay for bikram. I initially signed up for their first month unlimited for $40 to see if I liked it. And boy, did I love it! I went to a bunch of their classes to see what I liked best - bikram, vinyasa, foundations of flow, and bikram was the one I enjoyed the most. Yoga Source offers packages that you can purchase, and so I've been doing the $300 for 25. I enjoy Johnny's bikram class A LOT. He's such a great teacher - very patient, but yet will push you and make sure you work hard! I also like how he cracks your back, and sometimes you get short foot massages with oil. I've been to other studios, and none of the teachers match up. His class gets really popular though, so try to arrive about 10-15 minutes before, so you can snag a good spot. The studio has wooden floors, which is perfect for bikram, since it's a heated class and having everyone drip their sweat on carpet would be a bad idea. Sometimes it can get super crowded, so it's best to be early. The receptionists have always been friendly and welcome. Definitely a must try! I've brought a few of my friends here, and all of them have had an enjoyable (and super sweaty!) experience. read more

Thanks for Yelp for reminding me to review this place as I definitely owe Yoga Souce a review for a loooong time. So here you go! If I should summarize Yoga Source in one sentence, for me it will be the following: "The best studio for Bikram Yoga in the Bay Area, period!" I've discovered Bikram Yoga while joining this studio in 2009. No only I've been addicted to this hot Yoga since then, I've also been a regular to Yoga Source as I've been attending classes almost every week since then. And for those that might think I was too lazy to look around, let me tell you that I do live in San Francisco, so I add plenty of reason to find a studio closer. So far I haven't find anything comparable to what Yoga Source offers. (If you know one, please message me on Yelp!) Yoga Source put the bar pretty high when it comes to Bikram Yoga. Here is what I love that I wasn't able to find in other studio in the Bay Area so far: - The studio has hardwood floor, is spacious, clean and well ventilated. Giving you a fresh start before each class is making the experience totally different. - If you read reviews of other studios (especially in San Francisco) the topic of BO always come up. Here this is just not applicable (as per my experience) :-) - Johnny (the instructor that teach the Bikram classes I'm attending) is great. He has a very positive attitude, a nice Texas accent, is very energetic & fun. He also have a great music playlist (before/after/during the class). And last but not least, will give you a neck massages if you decide the chill at the end of the class. I consider this being priceless :-) If you have been looking for a great Bikram studio, please do consider Yoga Source and especially Johnny's class :-) Their offer new student special that are a great deal to get started. TIP: Sign up online to reserve a spot for the more crowded classes (weekday evenings and weekend mornings), and make sure to get there early so you can pick out where to set up your mat in the studio. I've had my eye on Yoga Source for a while (YM and MM are both Yoga Source devotees), but it wasn't until I saw a Groupon ($10 for 10 classes) that I decided to carpe diem and give YS a shot. KS and I chose to drop in on Monday for Johnny's 4:30 Bikram class. Johnny and another girl were working the front desk and checked us in very quickly. Both KS and I were Bikram virgins-- Johnny took us aside before class started to show us some breathing exercises and also gave us some tips about what to do if the heat overwhelmed us. I thought the class was great. The hardwood floor of the studio was clean and about half of the walls are covered with mirrors, making it easier for you to check your form. Johnny is very authoritative, and pushed everyone to work their hardest without coming off as a drill sergeant. He circulated around the room frequently, and during more restful poses he cracked everyone's back. He gave KS and me tons of personal attention-- corrected our posture, massaged our necks/feet with eucalyptus/methol oil, etc--, which really impressed me. As a Bikram beginner, it was slightly intimidating seeing some of the regulars do certain poses with ease, but it was also inspiring; I'd like to get there someday too. At the end of the 1.5hrs I was completely soaked from head to toe. It was hot in the studio, but not oppressively so. For a first time experience it exceeded my expectations. OVERALL: I'd love to make Bikram at Yoga Source a regular thing. I've gone twice now (DEFINITELY get there early during their rush hours to snag a spot in the crowded studio!) and I leave feeling centered and looking forward to the next session. read more

Bikram and power yoga are great for people who want to practice yoga for fitness purposes. Doing yoga in a heated room is an intense workout, be prepared to sweat! I sweat buckets every single class! The $40 for 30 days is an unbeatable deal, and long enough for you to figure out if heated yoga is something you enjoy. I don't think any other studios in Bay area has a comparable deal, it's $25 for 7 days at BYSC and $20 for 10 days at BYSJ. I've gone to Bikram Yoga San Jose and Santa Clara, and I can tell you those places stink because of the carpeted flooring! Especially BYSJ! Yoga Source is the best studio I've been to. It's hardwood flooring (bring your own mat & towel) and they provide hand towels and there's a water dispenser at the back of the studio (that's where the restrooms and changing rooms are). I love almost everything about the studio (I wished they had shower rooms here but I guess you can't have everything), and it's a nice touch that they play jazz music before class. I love Johnny's bikram yoga classes, he goes around to correct your postures and pushes you to get a deeper stretch (I love the back cracks!). He doesn't demonstrate most of the poses (I don't think many bikram yoga instructors do) but gives great instructions. My asanas have definitely improved! I am still a newbie to yoga but I have started incorporating Power Yoga into my exercise routine as well. It's more difficult than bikram, but I think it's great for toning your body. This sounds dramatic but Yoga Source changed my life! I see myself as a yogi and yoga has become a big part of my life. I've been doing bikram/power yoga 3-4x a week and I'm starting to see the changes in the body. Don't take my word for it, try it out for yourself! read more

So momma does not have the cash moneys for no $700 6 month membership. I wish I did and I even tried asking Google to pay me a Senior Engineers salary during my interview for an administrative position, just to fight the man and even out the wealth gap. They didn't go for it and now will not return my calls, but such is life. So speaking of dating type scenarios, I feel that Yogasource is in fact the best boyfriend you could ask for. I purchased the $40 new student special and took the Bikram classes with Johnny who is hilarious and has great taste in music, Beach Boys and Johnny Cash? Yes please! But you go, get really hot and sweaty, get the best back cracking massages and then when you leave they pleasantly surprise you with flowers? Amazing. Guys of South Bay, you better step up your game because Yogasource has outdone you. But in serious, the Bikram classes are great, I would recommend going on weekdays in the evening, as weekends are super crowded and makes it that much harder to breathe. You don't have to bring a towel because they have towels there, but you should definitely bring lots of water because it gets real hot and heavy. But I left every class feeling so refreshed and worked out in that way only yoga can make you feel. Plus there is the bonus of getting your shoulders cracked by Johnny, which I cannot recommend enough. Enjoy! read more

Only Bikram yoga studio centrally located on the peninsula. Convenient class times - large space and Johnny rocks! He is my favorite instructor as he keeps the class moving, he motivates and can be a bit of a funny guy at times. Would give this place 5 stars except for the fact that it can get really crowded (testimony to its popularity) and some people think that when a class starts at 4:30 - getting there at 4:45 is appropriate - and while they are at it - why not stand right in front of you so you have no view of the mirror at all. read more

I've only ever taken the Bikram style class from Yoga Source, so I can only speak for that particular class. I've taken classes from Johnny and Nancy. I know Johnny seems to be the favorite instructor, but I liked both of them! I do like how they will adjust or push you in your practice, but they always ask if it's okay if they touch you in case you don't want to be. The studio is very clean and nice. I love that you can refill your water and the fact that there are two bathrooms is awesome. I also like how they have the dots on the floor as guides for mats when it's a really full class. It allows everyone to have a decent amount of space even when it's really crowded (I've only been to evening classes which are typically more crowded). They are more expensive for a normal drop in class, but they have nice facilities (although, no showers) and packages bring the prices down to reasonable. One complaint I have is that they allow people to get up and leave the room. Every now and then is expected, but when many people are getting up and going in and out each class, that gets really distracting and it lets all the heat out. And sometimes I'll see people doing postures incorrectly and it really freaks me out that they're going to hurt themselves and the instructors don't always correct them. I'm not an instructor, but I've been practicing for many years now and have taken classes from amazingly knowledgable people. All that being said, I would recommend Yoga Source in general and I would return here! read more

I went here for two classes: Johnny's Bikram class and a vinyasa class (forgot the instructors name) This place is in a pretty great location of downtown Palo Alto. It is right on hamilton close to a couple parking structures so you should have no problem parking and walking over. Plus if you live in Palo Alto I would recommend biking down Bryant and leaving your bike locked outside. Then you get a whole bunch of exercise! The studio is amazingly clean and organized. You come in the front and there are front desk people waiting to help you out immediately. To your left you'll find cubbies that you can keep your stuff in. If you don't want it so out there to the public there are more cubbies in the back through the yoga room. The yoga room itself is hardwood floors. Not my favorite because if you have a thin mat it can really start to hurt your hands and knees. However, it is easy to keep clean and I understand. If you come here regularly I would suggest getting a thick mat, and I highly recommend "The Mat" from lululemon. The room has great big mirrors and a nice buddha statue in the middle back. The room is a great size and perfectly rectangular so there is no weird mat set-ups. There is only one room in this studio so only one class at a time. I'm not a huge fan of Bikram but that has nothing to do with Johnny's class. My only complaint about his class was that I felt he adjusted me a little quickly considering is was my first time in his class. He never really asked before coming over to adjust my postures or rub my feet during savasana. Plus it was a little gross that he didn't wipe his sweat off and I got many drips on me as I was being adjusted. Other than that I would definitely recommend this yoga place. Heads up it gets crowded so come early if you want a good spot in class. Also compared to other yoga studios, this particular studio has many students that only wear a sports bra and shorts. YogaSource is, by far, the best yoga studio I've been to on either coasts!! If you like Bikram, this is the studio for you. They have beautiful hardwood floors (I refuse to do Bikram in a carpeted studio...it's just nasty), a very robust heating and ventilation system and a lot of classes on their schedule. Johnny is absolutely the best yoga teacher. So motivating and incredibly active -- he adjusts pretty much everyone's back during the 90 minutes and is just very attentive to the class. If you're able to go to YS during the day, Diane's lunch time class is great too. She's also very motivating, but she has her own style. And since the class is only 60 minutes it's easier to push yourself harder and to give yourself an intense mid-day workout. I've only recently started taking YS's power yoga classes, which I'm really enjoying. It's just a nice complement to the routine and predictability of bikram (though I still love it), and classes differ greatly from teacher to teacher. So far, I've really enjoyed classes by Andy (his class is HIGH cardio...more true to vinyasa and very high temp), Kim (she's very encouraging and will break down certain poses/flows for newbies), and Tracy (also a patient teacher, but will push you hard too). Definitely the studio to try out if you're in the peninsual! They offer a very good deal for new students $40 unlimited for 30 days. read more

Great yoga studio. Took a power yoga class in the morning and enjoyed it. We did a lot of stretches I haven't done before and it felt good. You can go at your own pace or push yourself to do the things the teacher offers you so you can go to the next level. The only negative I would say is - my class was too warm for me... I'm unsure if all the classes are like that, but it wasn't so bad where I felt like I was going to faint - but it was still very warm. Anyhow, I would come here again. Drop in classes are $20 and if you're a first time member, you can pay $40 for unlimited classes for a month. read more

I am a fair-weather yogi. I have been doing various types of yoga on and off for at least five years but have never really been committed to a particular "practice" for a long period of time. As such, I have not yet mastered the ability to look within when I do yoga, and am easily distracted by my surroundings. Enter Yoga Source. Yoga Source abounds with distractions--absurd heat even during unheated classes, the studio's inability to start and finish on time, the fact that they allow 20% more people in than they should, the presence of several extremely intense and seemingly unfriendly regulars. Yoga Source is a fantastic studio for those who want a challenge in concentration! Seriously though, Yoga Source gets an "A" for the 1-hour in-and-out vinyasa classes. Meanwhile, Johnny gives a nice Bikram class for those who want to check out that brand of yoga and Shastri gives an interesting vinyasa classes that will expose you to all kinds of body-bending poses (try putting your heel on your stomach). Make sure to bring your own mat; I think they started charging for them under the pretense that they are going to clean them. Last thought - if you don't like heated yoga, head elsewhere. If you go here, you are getting a double whammy: 1) higher prices because of the extra heating cost that you are not even taking advantage of and 2) residual heat. Absurd heat. Well above 80-degree heat in unheated classes. Ew. read more

Giving this studio 4 stars because I have not taken enough classes to give it 5. I come here to take with Shastri on Sat at noon. This is a great class, but gets packed so come early. Shastri is a talented teacher and your practice will grow if you practice with him. The studio itself has recently been remodeled so it's fresh and clean. There is ample space to store your things. The staff has always been very nice, helpful and courteous. I enjoy feeling welcomed when I come into the studio and when I leave. One great thing about yoga source is they offer an unlimited monthly offer for first time students. It costs $40 and is an incredible value. I suggest you give yoga source a try! read more

Although I still like the quality of the instructors and students, studio itself is way too small and crowded to make you feel uncomfortable constantly when our bodies were poked by people' fingers and feet around you. It's time for the owner to consider seriously enforcing an online reservation system (cancellation penalty applies while less than 3 or 2 hours or so) in order to put a capacity limit on attendance. Also, compare to Yoga Source in Los Gatos (the one I'm a member right now, no longer workout in Palo Alto location) they have normal 1.5 hr Bikram class at 6AM, hotel like shower facilities (large towel, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided) and locker (bring our own lock), 2-level parking lots, and the most importantly the spacious classrooms and lobby which sells clothing and learning materials. Because of Johnny, this place is 5*. Otherwise, it would be a 4*. He is the reason I go in a hot room, on a hot Saturday morning, doing weird poses an inch away from another sweaty stranger. For that 1.5hrs, I like every sweaty person in that room cuz we are all sharing the same joy and misery. If it's your first time doing Bikram, he would really spoil you. Just go and you'll see. And if you are one of those my-body-can't-handle-heat type of person, you are not special. It's tough but you will get through it. You will leave the class feeling like you got a massage. I usually only do Bikram here. I have tried other Bikram classes in the area and I'm telling you...this is one of the few that doesn't smell. read more

The five-star rating is exclusively for Mara Reinin, whose hot Pilates classes have helped me heal chronic back and knee injuries. Her Pilates routines are a freakin' BEAST, but they work. Mara gives anatomically precise instructions and sequences things at an intensity and pace that catalyze lasting healing, strength and endurance. She's also an all-around bad-ass warrior-mama who fills the room with her warmth and grace. I highly recommend Mara's Pilates classes to those in need of effective physical therapy to redress injuries from ballet, running, yoga or other types of athletic activities. read more

This is a great studio. The teachers who conduct Power Yoga are also affiliated with Baron Baptiste, whose studio I went to back in Boston. I also enjoy Bikram, which I have never done before. It's easier- but you get less of the burn than with the Baptiste method. Classes overall are effective and you will not get that suburban housewife effect (you know, the kind where the teacher can't be too vigirous else the activity messes up their platinum engagement rings). Oh, and a warning: there's one teacher, Johnny, who although is very good because he pushes you, sounds like a Southern lieutenant with a bit of a metro lisp. I thought yoga was suppose to be soothing, but no, the man enjoys thundering his hands together and screaming with a Southern accent, "PULL HARDER!!!". Spin class or yoga? Motivating or out of sync with the let go yoga mentality? You and your ear drums decide. read more

This is my second choice for bikram yoga. I like the instructors I've had there (how can you go wrong with a funny yoga instructor with a southern draaaawl?). I don't get quite an intense of a workout here than some other places because I think the poses aren't held as long. Still, it's a good choice for yoga in the peninsula. read more

I only recently started going, and found for the Power Yoga, and Bikram it was easy as a new comer that has never done a single yoga pose, to just jump right in! I found the instructor Johnny, for the Bikram class to be excellent! He made sure to pay special attention to those of us who needed it, and to make sure we pushed ourselves. My only complaint is about the Belly Dance classes. I have only been twice now, but I don't know if I want to go again. Everyone is at different levels in the class, and therefore it's difficult for the instructor to divide her attention and slow down for the newbies. I felt like I had been thrown into a tornado of advanced level belly dancers, and had no clue what I was doing! I would highly recommend some personal time with a Belly Dance instructor or at least going to a Belly Dance class where everyone is starting with you instead of half of the class being advanced and the other half lost. This is a great class if you already have the moves down and just want a work out, but avoid if you are not so coordinated, like myself, and need more instruction to start. read more

Not my favorite studio, but gets the job done. It's a basic studio - small lobby to check into that opens into a large room for classes which leads to another small room with changing stalls and restrooms. Hardwood floors - a plus for Bikram yoga. This studio does not get hot enough for Bikram. The teacher, Johnny, is awesome though. It's the best when he comes over and pushes you further into the stretch and you feel you back crack about a million times. So good. If you're new to Bikram though, I would not recommend coming here. There is not very much instruction and I have seen people look somewhat lost during the class and not be adjusted. This place has the $40 for 30 days new student special which is a great offer to take advantage of to get a feel for the place. Okay the 5 star rating of "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" may be a little unfair/biased as this is the only yoga studio I've ever been to - but this place is awesome! Spacious room with hardwood floors, clean bathrooms and water filter in the back, and very friendly and helpful staff. Yoga mat rentals for $1 and plenty of hand towels in baskets around the room for you to grab when the sweat starts falling. I got the 30 days/$40 introductory deal and I've been twice since signing up yesterday. Both times were with Johnny, who as someone else mentioned, really pushes you to work hard. He comes around and helps you get lower/deeper into positions (without hurting you) and also sometimes (if you're lucky!) rubs some minty oil on your feet while you're in corpse pose and on your neck/head/shoulders at the end of the class if you continue lying there after class is over. Like a 30-second massage! Feels amazing after that 90 minutes of pushing your muscles to the max and sweating out buckets. Oh, and when you first switch to the lying-down poses, he comes around the room and cracks every single person's back. Quite possibly my favorite part of the class :) So, so glad I discovered this studio and bikram yoga! *** Update -- I've been to Johnny's class 4 times now and absolutely LOVE it. It's fun and he pushes you hard but not in a crazy demanding way, but in a way where YOU are the one who wants to go deeper, harder, whatever. But tonight I went to Nancy's class and didn't enjoy it that much :\ She talks in a very slow, almost sing-song, voice and counts down every single second so that the time just feels longer. It's not as fun and I really just couldn't stand the way she talked. She also went over the time, so the class that already felt long literally was longer! Still 5 stars for this place, but definitely try to go to Johnny's bikram classes if you can! read more

I love this yoga studio. It is currently my favorite in the area for heated vinyasa/power yoga (my preferred style of yoga). The studio itself is clean and well kept. I love the minimalism of the space. A beautiful Buddha and skylights add just enough aesthetic but simple beauty to a room with decently high ceilings (an important preference of mine--low ceilings in yoga studios feels oppressive to me). My favorite classes are power yoga with Tracy (mornings) and Jonathan (evenings). Both of them are wonderful teachers in many ways -- presence, instruction, voice command, assistance, personality & encouragement are all strong points for both of them. My one small wish is that there were more heated power classes offered in the daily schedule. There are Bikram classes offered in addition to heated power classes, but I tend to get bored with Bikram easily (same sequence of poses). This is a personal preference so I won't take any stars away. Pricing is standard-to-high for the area, but considering the location (downtown Palo Alto) no big surprise there. All-in-all I really love & appreciate this studio and its teachers. I highly recommend it! read more

This review is only for the Bikram yoga classes...and keep in mind I haven't actually tried other yoga studios. Which should tell you, I guess, that this place is really good, so much so that I paid $$ without trying out other places first! Yes, the popular classes get quite crowded...but just get here earlier and you'll get a spot. Yes, the ass-in-your-face can happen, which sucks...but that's only happened to me twice. Johnny's class is really good. He cracks your back! Water in the back room...changing areas...clean and NOT smelly. I never thought I'd like Bikram yoga, but I kinda love it. I've only done Bikram here. For being in downtown PA, it's very affordable in comparison to some other studios. Bamboo Floors = Clean The room could be hotter. But, um, "I don't get quite an intense of a workout here than some other places because I think the poses aren't held as long." Then why would class still last exactly 90 minutes? And if Johnny doesn't do it for you, then take class from a different teacher. But honestly? After living way too long around self-absorbed, over-paid engineers, I'd kill to have his job and get paid to scream out orders and make them sweat. read more

I recently joined yoga source, I love johnny's hot yoga class. I am supposed to have his class now, but I am waiting for my flat tire getting replaced:-( Their receptionist doesn't pick up their phone, I called couple times, but no response. Very comfortable and welcoming for newcomers like myself. The instructors are able to efficiently describe the poses and lead the class, whatever level your practice. I have taken Bikram from Johnny and Bill, a contrast in demeanor and style, but really enjoyed both. Rates seem pretty competitive, and you can do a two week trial after you pay for the first class. For me this is a great way to combine a fairly hard work-out, (during class) while also weaving in some relaxation (end/after class). Bring a good size water bottle (there is a water machine thing in the back if you haven't topped up before class). Small changing area in the back in case you are coming straight from work. Instructors are good about making space if the studio looks full, but don't appreciate late arrivals. read more

I've been to a lot of Bikram studios, and I would say Yoga Source is one of the best. (Minus one star for not having a shower) The wood floor is great since many of the yoga studios have carpet that would smell after the class. Johnny is great! Unlike the typical soft spoken yoga instructors, he reminds me more of a drill sargent. But his class is always full of energy, and I just love it! read more
