    Yogasaki Hibachi Express!

It's a large food trailer(?) that's taken root with shade and outdoor seating. The food was incredible, hot, and fresh. My spouse and I shared some egg rolls and a combination with steak, chicken, and shrimp. The steak and chicken where tender and the shrimp was great. Nothing was rubbery or over cooked. We thought the portions were big and priced affordably. The staff are nice and very polite. It's worth the short drive off the highway if you're passing by. Construction had closed 2nd St so we found it best to get to them from 1st St since they're on the south side of 2nd and we couldn't cross 2nd from 3rd (north).

    Super delicious!

A little out of the way but worth it - been here several times never let down. Menu is actually quite a bit bigger than yelp menu.

Food was good. Service was excellent. Unfortunately slipped on ambiance, but maybe better now…read more AC was out and portable fans everywhere, kinda dark and narrow too. Probably would do pickup or getting a quick bite.

TLDR: Try the sumo roll, the Truman roll, the spider roll, and anything tempura. Lunch is take-out…read moreonly. Get a reservation for Friday or Saturday evening. MENU: Bonzai has an extensive menu, complete with most of the things you customarily find at a sushi spot. Let's talk about how confusing the text of the menu itself is. If I were to mention "orange sauce", what would you think that is? You might assume it's a sauce made with orange juice, maybe something like Americanized Chinese style orange chicken. But it isn't. It's actually spicy mayo. Likewise the "white sauce" is plain mayo, and the "brown sauce" is some sort of teriyaki glaze. Like most sushi places, they insist on giving rolls quirky names that don't tell you anything about what the dish actually includes, so if you're new to the menu, you're going to spend an hour reading and re-reading a dense list of the same dozen or so ingredients in very slightly different combinations. On one occasion, I ordered food to-go over the phone and asked for a sumo roll - I wound up with the similar-sounding summer roll. My advice is to look at the menu online and decide what you want in advance. COMPETITION: Now that we have two sushi places in town, I can't help but compare them. IMO, both are good, and are both worth visiting for different things, depending on what you like. Go to Bonzai: for OMG tuna or OMG salmon (both are better than the tuna lover/salmon lover versions at Mizu); for unagi (grilled eel); for masago (flying fish roe - better than it sounds); for softshell crab; for anything tempura, including whole deep-fried rolls; if you like seaweed salad but don't want it watered down with iceberg lettuce (otherwise, it's the same restaurant supply product at both places). Overall, Bonzai has a much better diversity of options. Go to Mizu: for the yum yum sauce, that alone is worth the trip; for fried calamari; for gyoza; for their seafood salads (the tuna mango tataki it my favorite); for escolar or anything with smoked salmon; and for larger portions in general. IMO, the dishes at Mizu tend to have a fancier presentation, if you dine-in. Overall, their sushi options are kinda same-same. They're also open seven days a week. FOOD QUALITY: Can't complain, except that it seems clear to me that they have gotten more stingy with filling ingredients in the last year or two. MENU FAVORITES: When it comes to sushi, standouts for me are the Truman roll (unagi and California salad), the fried Philly, and the spider roll (fried soft-shell crab) - my personal favorite roll is the sumo roll. I highly recommend any of the tempura items, and I especially love the seasoned dipping sauce that comes with it - they give you a generous portion, and I always save about 2/3 of it to use in a homemade meal such as scrambled eggs; same with the extra soy sauce, I haven't bought a bottle in forever because I have so much of it from this restaurant, because I usually get food to go. MENU FAILS: I just think it's odd that the sign outside describes the restaurant as a steakhouse... I mean, steak is the first thing on the list, and maybe that was true in ancient times, but in the eleven years I have lived in the area, I don't recall ever seeing steak of any kind on the menu. FRONT OF HOUSE SERVICE: The main staff are (I suppose) a husband and wife team. Both are cordial and efficient. No complaints. The restaurant itself is small, and on more than on occasion I have seen a line queuing up before they open at 5:15pm - if you want to be guaranteed a place, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening, get a reservation. Lunch is take-out only. KITCHEN SERVICE: I have to say, they are superb when it comes to consistency, on the whole. There was one occasion when I ordered the OMG salmon and it came covered in a PILE of chopped scallions, but I chalk that up to training a new hire. Overall, everything I have gotten here has been well prepared, and accurate to what was ordered (which isn't easy, given the dozens of slightly different variations of rolls to choose from.) ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is always dimly lit, which I find a little annoying, especially with the black walls. The decor is nice, if a little plastic. A+ for really clean bathrooms.

Welp, sure enough, the rumors are TRUE! Right off the main strip in town is a decent-sized lot that this truck has taken residence on, replete with tables and seating, about 10 parking places, and trash receptacles. We stopped in on an unseasonably warm, late December evening, and tried a few different types of dishes: steak hibachi, shrimp lo mein, sushi, chicken hibachi, and lots of yum yum sauce! I was (mostly) responsible for the sushi roll. Normally, I'm a 2, maybe 3 roll per sitting kinda guy. For whatever reason, on this evening, I decided to start with one...and thank goodness I did, as the roll was enormous! Like, the volume of at LEAST two rolls at any other place! Delicious, well-made, and extremely filling! In my ratings, I'd give the lo mein second place - it was fantastic, and included lots and lots of shrimp, which thrilled my son! He woofed it down, fast! The ladies in our party each got hibachi, and both loved it! The Yum yum sauce came in handy for their meat, veggies and rice. As we ate under the stars, we saw about a dozen folks swing in for take out, meaning we were definitely behind the eight ball in finding this gem out on the prairie! The gentleman running the window was kind and helpful with our order, and they had our food prepared in about 20 minutes! Not bad, considering the busy Friday night they were having! The lacquered soup bowl and spoon are par for the course but the cast iron teapot and teacup give that authentic quality. So the miso soup is not as salty as I am accustomed to, but I believe that is a me thing, not a quality issue. The composition of seaweed and tofu is good. The salad has a ginger dressing which I appreciate, but my daughter didn't. Again, it's a her issue. The salad components were fresh. The sushi flavors were pretty good. So the fish is not as fresh as it would be in a coastal state or on an island. Hey man, this is the midwest! That being said, this is NOT grocery store sushi though, it is much better and much tastier than that. The flavors of the sauces are mild to allow the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through, something that many places err in. Typical rolls have such overpowering sauces that the actual ingredients are unidentifiable. This place does not make that mistake. The spicy tuna roll is probably the best tasting spicy tuna roll that I have had in a very long time. Most places use sriracha as the main pepper ingredient, despite it not being of Japan origins. This spicy tuna roll has more of a togarashii based pepper base. As a result it has more of an authentic Japanese flavor. Yum! The staff are very nice, greeting you with a smile. They even ask if you would like a plate cleared away before taking the dish away...my husband has had instances where he wasn't quite done and the servers whisked the dish away neglecting to ask. They checked on us frequently as well. I also am pleasantly surprised that their last call for dine in is 15 minutes before they close. My daughter wasn't available to go out for dinner until 8:45 pm. This is 20 minutes away, so it was still open when we arrived and we didn't feel rushed to place our order.
