    Yogi bear

I discovered this place on my trip up to Cedar Point a few weeks ago. I decided to book a vacation for three nights with my family. My three year old had the best time!!! The owners were very friendly and kind. The staff was incredible as well. The place is well maintained and very clean in all areas. There were so many activities we barely had enough time to do everything! My daughter loved all of the art activities and was so excited to see yogi bear everyday. We also brought our two dogs and the place was nicely set up for dogs as well. There's a cute dog park and a few trails to walk. I can't wait to visit again!!

A great weekend got started off on a bad foot. Our first time camping here, we picked this place for the kid appeal and we planned on bringing our grandkids. On arrival, the place looks great and very scenic. A staff member escorted us about 1/2 mile to our spot. He was the only staff member I ended up not liking! He drove up to "our spot" and pointed to it and drove off. (We took a day off and got there right at check in time. )It takes us 2 hours to get the site and our pop up totally setup. We do this without the kids and have their parents bring them so they don't have to wait while we setup. Just after finishing setup, another camper arrived and told us we were in their spot and they wanted to be next to their friends. Sure enough the sign for the spot we were in was hidden by a tree, but we were were the staff told us to me! Just then the kids arrived as we had to tear everything down and move it 30ft. For those of you in bigger rigs, the drive around the lake to get to your site is pretty scary. Think of a road that isn't as wide as your camper and elevated along a lake with drop offs! Some spots are narrow with trees in inopportune places that may prevent you from using our awning, or low hanging wires you may not get your 5th wheel under. In this Covid year camping is regaining popularity and sites are going fast. We booked a month ahead and got the last available spot. With just a popup we like to get a spot near a shower house/bathroom. For us way up on the hillside it was a 200 yard walk, which may not seem bad, till its 3am and you have a 60 year old bladder. We were also .4 miles away from all the activities and a lot of up and down hills! Next time I'll try to get a spot in the 400 loop for our pop up if we take the kids. They ended up having a great time and the weather was perfect. Saw the Milky way, so its nice to be 50 miles from downtown Columbus, though not a great place for star gazing as this is a very wooded site with lots of shade. I'm glad we didn't let that first night disaster spoil our long weekend.

This place was awesome! Everything was so clean & the staff were incredibly kind. We had an unforeseen circumstance outside of everyone's control and management jumped in and saved the day in the most accommodating way! There was tons of stuff for the kids (constant activities, 2 pool locations, a pond with Wibits, and so much more). I would definitely recommend a golf cart rental unless you like walking up hills. But even without a cart, everything was a reasonable walking distance. We can't say enough good things. We will be back and recommending this to all of our friends!

We had the best time on our impromptu trip. We stayed at Cindi bear #1 and it was impeccably clean. Great location so FYI if coming and renting a cabin but any of the spots are great. Clean campgrounds, friendly staff. Fun activities. And we even came through the week and there was stuff to do. It was a quiet week this week which was fine by us. Family ran and owned. No complaints. All positives

Fungus growing out of mulch on campsite was gross and messy.

We camped in tents with our children. We were extremely disappointed when arriving at our campsite. We did not have one tree on our campsite; the day was hot with no clouds and we had no shade at all. The camping area was a bed of mulch, right next to the road. The picnic table was on a hill (our food and drinks kept spilling). The fire ring was also on a hill and felt very unsafe for my young children. Our campground was extremely rocky and my two-year-old kept falling and hurting himself. When I expressed my concern to the staff at Jellystone, instead of offering ways to make it feel more safe (such as an umbrella for shade or trying to level the area around the campfire), they owners yelled at me and asked me to leave. I said my children were in their swimsuits and ready to swim and they tried to kick me out again, saying that they spent their life savings on this place. Still very hard to believe that is how they treat their guests. .. At this point, knowing that the owners at Jellystone were not going to do anything to make our stay better (although they eventually brought an umbrella) and that our kids were excited to be there, we tried to make the most of it. It was hard to sleep with the proximity of the campsites, lots of noise until midnight. I did actually fall sideways in my chair around the campground and was just glad it wasn't one of the kids! Also had fungus growing out of the mulch getting all over our tents. Really really gross and made clean up a mess. Gratefully the lake was fun and we just had to spend very little time at our campsite since it was so awful. But won't be back especially after the treatment of the owners and will encourage everyone else to take their business elsewhere also.

Campground is nice and private. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The kids loved swimming at their pond which has 3 slides , a kiddie area, dock for fishing, canoes and paddle boats you can take out. Our site was nice and private in the 800 section. The campground is nice to be able to shoot down to Columbus in half hour to outlets or to grab something to eat. On the downside the bathroom were so so. They were semi up to date and semi clean. Maybe I'm to picky but I like a newer very clean shower facility. Some areas by pond could use some tending to but for most part was very nice stay.

Great place for families. So much for kids to do. You can rent golf carts by the day. They have two pools, and a lake with inflatables

They have simplified the entrance/exit making it easier to come and go. The pool was in great shape this time. But the splash pad is not turned on yet. I did see where they added new jump pads, one normal size and one huge! This is right next to a new zip line and the kids seem to love both. I decided to splurge on one of their deluxe patio sites since this was my birthday/Father's day present. We got a very nice site back in the BOONDOCKS area which is a nice secluded area not too far from everything else. It does have a nice shower that is ADA compliant, but my only suggestion would be to put a handicap sign up so more abled people can use the others first. Since I was splurging this week, we did take advantage of firewood and ice delivery and they were quick and courteous. I did have an opportunity to reach out for help with their management when an unexpected storm came through. We have a pop up that once you setup and put out the awning, its difficult to get down in a hurry. I used their text number and requested a small step ladder to help me get the awning down and they quickly responded. That was a big help. All in all it was a great stay. My only real issue is with reserving a deluxe patio site, some have propane grills and others have charcoal grills and I don't think you know till you get there, so we had to run our for charcoal.

The wagon ride was cancelled on Saturday with out a notice. We walked on the trail with the kids but it smelled terrible like sewage and there are no trail markers so we had to back track a few times. One trail took us to a house. The sun catcher paint event was not well put together. They were gone in 1 minute and not enough paint for everyone. Walked to feed the animals and didn't realize it cost a quarter to feed. Absolutely no cash on us. And we lost a headlamp we bought in the store, went to buy another the morning we left and told we were not allowed in the store and it was closed for an emergency. For the amount of money we paid just expected a little more being the holiday weekend. Don't see us coming back. Likes: bathrooms were nice, kids liked playground and jump pad, the paddle boat and life jackets, patio furniture at our site.

If it wasn't for a permanent guest on pulling in, we would've badly damaged the motorhome with an overhang limb. We arrived at night and were given a spot for a week. We were towing a jeep and could not even turn into our spot, even though we had rented a pull through spot. And then the spot was not level, and there was mud all around, which got tracked into our motorhome. It seemed awful expensive being that this is the off-season and we stayed for a week. The campsite is the closest one to our daughter's house and we may have to come again, but it's not a place that we really like the only really positive note was that we could walk our dog in their wooded area which has paths and it is fairly large.

While it's too late for the mass departure of annual members this year, I hope this signals that Cross Creek is heading in the right direction. There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Cross Creek raising its rates every year. After eight years of annual camping, our family--along with eight others--made the decision not to renew. Over the years at Cross Creek, we've built lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories, but with skyrocketing prices and the campground's steady decline, we were left with no choice. The turning point came when Cross Creek was acquired by Apple Brook. Almost immediately, staffing was reduced, and the amenities that once made it a premier destination were sold off. What was once a AAA-rated resort quickly deteriorated into a glorified state park. The signs of decline were evident: flowerbeds overgrown with weeds, neglected campsites, and unattended weekend lots. Some areas were so overgrown last year with weeds, it was hard to tell where the gravel ended and the grass began. Safety also became a growing concern during the off season as campers weren't vetted and transients sneaked into the park freely to use the restrooms, showers, washers and dryers. The weekend activities that once defined the campground--such as Harry Potter weekends, haunted houses, escape rooms, and top-tier live music--were replaced with rock painting, karaoke, and second rate bands. When I reached out to the front office two years ago to express my concerns and request a conversation with the owner, I was told he had no interest in speaking with us. The message was clear: with a long waitlist, we were replaceable. When I brought up the decline in activities and amenities, I was told that it was up to the annual campers to organize them--an absurd response. If you're considering Apple Brook, know that it is not the Cross Creek of the past. The AAA-rated resort is gone, replaced by a contractor campground with annual rate hikes and diminishing activities. If you're looking for a seasonal or annual spot, be prepared for a large price increase each year with fewer and fewer amenities. Apple Brook has taken its loyal annual and seasonal campers for granted, and as a result, eight families have either left or will leave in just the next few months. My hope with this review is that Apple Brook management sees this and takes action to restore Cross Creek to the incredible destination it once was.

The online…read morereservation site has all the details on lot size, electricity info, distance to showers, etc. However, it's limited in showing different dates, which is frustrating. Anyway, the check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 1pm. We paid fifty-three dollars per night for two adults and one dog, with a six fifty reservation charge. Check-in was easy, and the attendant was helpful; you just drive up to the office, check-in and go on your way. The layout is similar to a subdivision with cul-de-sacs and each spot having its own little yard, making it feel somewhat like camping in the woods. Our neighbors were quiet and most vehicles drove slowly. Everyone we met was pleasant and friendly. The camp itself was clean and easy to hook up. Bathrooms and showers were clean and there was plenty of toilet paper. Large trash bins were available along with gray water stations. The only thing I'd suggest is for the site identifiers to be repainted, as several had faded over time. We visited the beach, but didn't go swimming, given the temperature. The pond is catch and release and seemed maintained and not stagnant. The budget limitations need to be considered before passing judgment. We used bug spray every day and that seemed to help keep the bugs away. The site we booked had a level surface and plenty of room to back in. The water and electrical were easily accessible and worked fine. A lot of campers used an inline water filter. The water quality report is on the park website for anyone interested. The grass was well trodden, making a camp rug a must-have. There was also a fire pit with a grill attached, but we didn't use it to cook. Also, at the time, there wasn't a burn ban. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we'll definitely return. It was fun to walk down the aisles and see all the setups and decorations and note future camp site options. How many campers are long-timers, it's hard to tell. But we were pleased and our dog loved exploring on our walks.
