I can guarantee you this place has some of the best original tart froyo in the area. Can't speak on the other flavors too well but I will always live by this place's tart froyo flavor. I always get it - creamy, consistent, light, and not too sweet. Other froyo franchises' original tart flavors are too watery or sweet. It is perfect here. I always get that flavor with strawberries, mochi, and some dulce de leche on top!! Dream. I miss it even now. Not sure how you can go wrong with a DIY froyo shop. I recently took a virtual yelp event (not connected to this biz) where they made some - it is described as a Mexican dessert that is mango sorbet, chamoy sauce, chili powder, and fruit chunks (mango). I don't know how Yogiberry made theirs, but I wanted to still try it. I only came to this location because the coupon I had could only be used here. The concoction was made rather quickly and a tamarind straw was added to it. We were told it is eaten with a spoon. As my friend and I sat down to try these, the first thing I could tell was that the mango pieces was not ripe at all - that threw me off initially. The drink was very tart, like really sour (think of the reaction you give to a brain freeze). I will have to try something else on another day, but not sure I want to have a Mangonada again here. I love this froyo shop. It is extremely clean. No crumbles of granola in the chocolate chips, no drips from fruits but completely sparkly toppings area. So many fresh fruits, chopped and whole candies, cereals, nuts and syrups that it takes me a hot minute to decide on my concoction of the moment. Today I could not decide between original or vanilla so the smiling employee actually came out from behind the counter with little tasting cups and gave me hearty samples of both. I went for vanilla with loads of sexy fruits on top. Fresh plump blueberries, raspberries, mango, pineapple, lychee and kiwi. Then I added a dash of mini chocolate chips. All this right at 4$ Lovely seating area inside and outside. Today I went to the shop to purchase some yogurt after shopping at Marshall's. I approached the door at 12:03 and it was locked. On the window their hours are indicated as 12pm to 10pm. I waited until 12:10pm and still no one has opened the door however they are in front of me setting up. When i finally catch the eye of the owner he tells me to wait. I asked if they opened at 12pm and he told me to leave! This is a perfect example of how they area has been degraded with terrible customer service!!! I was in there last Saturday 9/1 and fell in there. I took step and landed on my back. 2 people helped me up, the employee was in the back and I told her that I fell. She said, "did you see the sign". What sign, she said oh it's outside in front of the door. I told her she should have it inside and said she only had one sign. This might be my first 1-star review and I couldn't wait to write it. I've been to a few do-it-yourself frozen yogurt places in the DMV area. They're all mostly the same: decent frozen yogurt flavors and different nut options for toppings (slivered almonds and chopped peanuts being the only things I add on mine) all for a price that doesn't exactly make you happy, but also doesn't make you seriously consider asking about the return policy. When we first walked in I noticed the place was very clean, so I guess my 1 star can go to that. But this was probably because NO ONE goes there. They only had maybe 6 flavors. I went with the salted caramel pretzel which was okay, the taro was also okay, and the pumpkin pie which kinda tasted like sour milk. I was really disappointed that the only nut they had in the toppings bar was the walnut which was probably the heaviest nut they could think of. Smart move on their part I guess because for two ice creams, we paid $17. $17 is two full meals at wendys...3 or 4 at taco bell. And now my stomach is full and slightly painful because I refuse to let $8.50 worth of ice cream go to waste. Sorry (not sorry) Yogiberry, but we will never be back. read more

The froyo here comes down melting liquid once you pull down the handle to dispense into your cup. That is really gross I personally think. So I let it drip a little until the mildly frozen product is coming out before I place my cup under. I am not paying $0.49/oz for melted froyo. Annoyed already I head over to the toppings... the strawberries looked unwashed and they didnt even remove the tops of the strawberries. Really? lazy much? Next I went for my favorite mochi only to find these white mochi moldy with green spots. NASTY! I informed the cashier that they have molds growing and he said "Oh.." and picked a few out and put the lid back on. Um... then after I paid, this guy.. came over and told us to be more careful dispensing with an attitude! As a customer who is not getting what they are paying for, who may get sick from eating dirty expired food from them and they are giving ME an attitude? you just lost one customer and many will follow if you don't get your acts straight. This place ALWAYS closes early. I was able to get my froyo only 3 out of 8 visits. It clearly says that they close at 9:00PM, but they always seem to close before 8:30. Today I stopped by to get some froyo at 7:30, and they were ALREADY cleaning the machines....!!!!! This place definitely need new workers who actually close the store on time. Another issue is that their topping choices are VERY limited. This place only has 2 fresh fruit toppings: strawberry and kiwi. Not to mention--their mochi is always dried out & hard. Don't waste your money here and do yourself a favor--go to SweetFrog by kentlands. They are the only only I've seen the Taro flavor in, though, which makes me quite happy. I gotta say, though (and it's not Yogiberry's fault per se), but if another customer has loud annoying kids and you can see that it is bothering other customers, you should say something (of course nicely) to quiet down the kid. We've been to many of the froyo places in the area and also the first Yogiberry out in Olney. Eventually, we were at the Rockville spot quite frequently for the longest time. So we were in the area and decided to come here for some cold goodness on a hot afternoon. I saw one of my favorite flavors that I would usually get wherever they had it, taro. Once I pulled the lever, the watery badness came into my cup. Completely unsatisfied. The wife did the same for hers (original flavor) and we didn't bother at this point. We walked up to the counter and told them that we weren't trying to be rude or anything, but this is just to runny for us. The employee kindly said to us that's no problem. As we walked out, we thought, Yogiberry use to be great, especially the Olney and Rockville locations. In fact, I think Yogiberry has the best original (tart) flavor out of all the spots in the area. But after coming here, I don't know if we'll be coming back, particularly this location. Yeah, it may have been bad timing and the machines weren't set at the right temp, but really? It's a froyo place, that's all you have to focus on to please your customers. read more

There are not many flavors, although people seemed to go crazy for taro. Tart/original is good. Oreo tastes like nothing. Cake batter is weak. But like others have said it is very soft, and melts very quickly. They also don't have all the toppings I would like. 16 Handles in the Washingtonian Center is better--more flavors and more toppings. On the Yogiberry website it lists banana as a topping, but every time I go and ask for it, they don't have it. 16 Handles also has better sauces. I end up at Yogiberry when I don't feel like dealing with the parking and teenage situation over at Rio. They do have good seating and a nice, bright interior, as compared to 16 Handles which has two tables in a cramped shop. read more

I really used to love this fro-yo shop. It was my place to go on Fridays and Saturdays. I love the frozen yogurt, I love the toppings, and I love the seating and how clean the whole place is. Lately, the place has been closing extremely early. I drove up three times on various days around 8pm (they are supposed to close at 9), and each time the shop was closed. My 9 year old asked them a question and they looked at each other, you know the way mean girls kind of do with that sarcastic smile, and didn't even try to ask her what she meant. Yum!! Apparently this is a new location in Gaithersburg that opened up just 2 days ago. It's in the old Maggie Moo's spot in the shopping center near Toys R' Us - forgot what it's called. But it's 2 doors down from Bed, Bath & Beyond where I was doing a little shopping. Thank goodness I stopped by for a snack! It's basically like all the new frozen yogurt joints popping up with self serve, pay-by-the-ounce yogurt with an abundance of toppings. There were several choices available this evening - lychee, banana split, oreo, taro, papaya, original and a couple others that I don't remember. The toppings included the standards in fruit, plus lychees and jackfruit, several cereals like Fruity Pebbles, Cap'n Crunch plus the one with berries, various nuts, granolas, chips and cookies. I decided to go for the banana split yogurt with large chunks of oatmeal cream pie and mini teddy grahams. Oh. my . heavens. Best choice ever. The place is clean with several tables to eat and the staff was very friendly. The gentleman was quick to explain the process and the other woman was out from behind the counter and next to my side ready to give me tastes in 2 seconds flat. Very cool. It's cash only right now but I can imagine that that will change once they get more settled. I'm a new fan!! Love it! This place is a healthy alternative to the 2,000 calories desserts offered at other ice cream places. The taro is my favorite. The best mochi found anywhere. SO FRESH, soft, chewy, and the pieces are huge! And while we're on the topic of toppings, they have yummy cubed jelly bits -- no idea what they're called, but they are good! I guess since this is a yogurt place, here are my thoughts: average/below average yogurt, to be completely honest. Really soft, pretty icy, and not much tart flavor to be found in the yogurt. I had the green tea, taro, and papaya. It was almost to the consistency and flavor of soft-serve yogurt. I like that this place is self-serve, though. I'd be willing to come back and have other flavors. At 45 cents/ounce, I guess the price is pretty comparable to the other places in the area. read more
