Updated Review Its been a while but came here today with the fam for ice scream of course. A lot of things have changed: The interior has been updated so thats a plus, they have kiosk now which give an easier and quicker way to order and pay The table games have been removed Prices increased and portions got smaller. We used to get 6 rolls of ice cream now we only get 5.
Incredible! Cute, nice, super-welcoming place -- I never saw such smiles greet me as I did tonight at this place! Also, soooo delicious! I had never heard of a croffle up until less than an hour ago -- and now I have eaten the most delightful crunchy-gooey, warm-and-creamy, whipped-cream-topped crumbled Oreo delight I had no idea was even possible! I was completely full when I got there, having just eaten a meal minutes before -- but when I saw this croffle thing, I just had to try it, and let me tell you it went down easy! I had no problem finishing it off, no matter my fullness .... Mmm! I also got a great-smelling, lusciously purple hot taro milk tea, and a couple of cookies for later .... Another first -- I'd never been to this shopping center at all before or knew it was there, so I guess that partially explains why I'd never heard of this place before but then again, even if I had, I would not think that a Thai ice cream place would be serving up this particularly Korean delicacy! (Okay, I just looked up the origin of the croffle and have found out it was invented in Ireland but popularized in and by South Korea.) Well, all I can say is: Wow! So good! Next thing I need to try there is the rolled-up ice cream coming in cups with other things, such as a couple of Pocky sticks .... There is quite a selection of toppings I did not get the chance to peruse -- yet! I did notice some sour straws and tape-shaped bubble gum at the counter .... The food and atmosphere are both great, the location is easy to reach and the parking was no problem (plus it's not too far from the Rockville Metro stop) -- but if you believe that 'people make a place' and service matters and makes all the difference, then the fantastic service here tops it all!
While in the area, I was in search of a place where I could get a good smoothie. I found Class 520 on Yelp and decided to stop by. I ordered a strawberry mango smoothie and my daughter ordered a Reese's ice cream roll with a roasted marshmallow and chocolate pocky on the side. I've seen rolled ice cream being made on TikTok before but seeing it in person was nice. It's like a true art to getting the rolls just right. My smoothie was delicious and had a delicate almost flowery taste. I can't put my finger on the actual taste but it was one of the best smoothies I've had in a while. My daughter's ice cream was really good too and the portion size was large. This is a nice shop and I would absolutely return, especially to get my own rolled ice cream this time.
Loved my second visit here with my hubby this time. I ordered the same thing again with different toppings-- the Strawberry Lady consisting of strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, marshmallows, and fresh strawberries. My husband got the Reese's Blast that had lots of chocolate and peanut flavors to it. Both items weren't overly sweet which I really appreciated. The order can be placed by using the touchscreen or by letting the cashier know. The price can be a bit extra except it's worth it. Our two ice cream orders came out shy of $16 but it comes with at least 3 free toppings of our choosing. The only gripe I have is parking. The lot in front of the store is perpetually full. It's best to park across the street if able.
It's pretty cool how you order on a big computer and they make your ice cream right in front of you . I picked the Oreo ice cream and my friend picked another flavor. it was extremely creamy and tasty. The place was getting busy as it was a Friday night. You have to go at least once to class 520 to experience homemade ice cream. You can sit inside or outside. It was a little dirty on the tables. I don't think the tables were cleaned off for a while.

This small family-owned shop is located near the Rockville Town Square. Known for their rolled ice cream, but also frequented for their Thai bubble teas. My girls have been dyinggggg to go here for years, but I kept putting it off for years. WHY DID I DO THAT?? I feel like I need to go again. Oops. I totally went back twice from the time I drafted my initial review. The shop itself is a typical size for an ice cream spot. There are about 5 tables and some countertop (2 tall high chairs) space to sit at. When walking in, you'll immediately see two machines to place your order facing you, some signage and the place where they make the magic to the right. It took us a minute to realize you have to use the machines to order (and then how to order). It's pretty simple. You can select from a variety of preset flavor combos, plus add three toppings and a drizzle; or you can pick a "plain" flavor and add your three toppings and a drizzle. The first time we went, the girls and I chose the "plain" - both girls had vanilla and I had coffee as the base. We each chose our own toppings. You can "upgrade" your cup to a Waffle bowl, as my eldest did, and/or add additional toppings like my youngest did. We were all super pleased with our selections. On the the second or third trip, I selected a "preset" s'mores galore combo. I learned that they don't necessarily put a bunch of "extra" toppings into the mix per se. Rather, they chopped up one graham cracker and give a few healthy squeezes of chocolate syrup. I should've made graham crackers one of my three toppings because I felt like I needed more to really achieve that s'mores flavor. I'll know for next time. Overall, the ice cream is really tasty and it's made pretty quickly. It's a bit on the pricey side (~$8 per ice cream), but i feel like I can justify the "splurge." Their gummy bears are really gummy butterflies (so cute!). And it's so cool to watch them make the rolled ice cream! Perfect place for this hot weather we've been experiencing.
We stumbled upon this place bc we went to the noodle place next door. This place has a self ordering/paying system which is handy. I was surprised to find a rolled ice cream place still around since that seemed trendy a few years ago but has died down since. My friend's complaint about this place is that they seem to nickel and dime you for certain "premium" toppings. It seemed in general like the toppings you do get are very sparse but I think that's kind of par for the course since the serving dish is fairly small too. Overall, we had a nice time here but I probably wouldn't make a trip just to come here.
This place has good ice creams. Whenever we are in the area having dinner, this is a definite stop. Parking is a little cramped here so the two times we parked at a nearby parking lot. Now they have an electronic ordering system and you choose your flavors. I took the mad mango and loved it.
Review from 2016 Came here when it first opened and the rolled ice cream was a novelty for the DMV region. One of my friends actually won the free ice cream for a year haha. First time experience is always fun to watch them pound out the cream and roll into the cup. They have a good number for ice cream flavors and a few toppings to choose from. At least back in 2016 it was quite good. Though I have tried rolled ice cream from other places that offered unlimited toppings so now they have more competition.
Class 520 opened a few years ago, when rolled ice cream became an overnight sensation. It's been years since I last went, and going back reminded me why: their ice cream prices are steep! My friend and I split one of their specialty rolled ice creams for $8. While it was tasty, I could get more for my buck at two other places just across in Rockville Town Center. Overall, 520 has a variety of cute drinks and desserts...it's just a little out dated.
Had to go here because this was on my list of "go to places" this summer. I'm a sugar feen so this place I was extremely excited to go to. Driving to this place I was worried about parking because any location in Rockville now? It's hit or miss with parking availability but since this location is in a mini shopping lot, there was a good amount of spots open. Customer service was good! The staff was nice and accommodating. It was cool seeing them make the Ice cream in front of you but I'm not going to lie $7.02 for a cup is a little pricey but it was good. We did the s'mores ice cream with vanilla instead of the chocolate and we did Oreo/graham cracker/chocolate syrup and it good! I also god the Thai bobba tea and I really enjoyed that also the strawberry lemonade tasted like a skittle!!! I liked the strawberry lemonade the best!! But their drinks are really good! They give you a drink reward card too. If you buy 7 drinks you get one free! Super cool. The seating part is open and the only thing I didn't like is they had sporks and no spoons. Not a deal breaker haha!
This place was pretty good, but not something I would rush back for. Service was fine. The ordering process is computerized and takes a few minutes which could be annoying when it's busy. Ice cream was fine. A fun novelty.
This place used to be great. I always get the lychee rolled ice cream so good! I still like going here from time to time when I'm craving a good lychee ice cream lol. But recently, I feel like the ice cream portions are getting smaller. For the price I'm paying the cup should be much fuller. It is not as full as it used to be :( read more
Walking across the street from Bob's I was in dire need of a dessert. Luckily Class 520 happened to scratch that itch and I was eating dessert in minutes. There's a kiosk where you can order your ice cream of choice ( I got the Rainbow Roll ) or you can order at the counter. You get three toppings that they add in after they roll up the ice cream. It's cool to watch the person making your ice cream. Thai Ice Cream is so much fun to watch. For the Rainbow Roll, it is Vanilla Ice Cream with my own three toppings. Coconut flakes, Sprinkles, and Strawberries. It's really good and refreshing after eating something spicy. A definite must visit if you crave the sweets like I do! read more

8.23.24 They sell ice cream which they roll. Interesting concept. My friend and her fam shared a lychee. I purchased boba taro tea. The tea itself wasn't the best I have had. I had mix feelings about the boba. It had honey which I loved the flavor, however, some bobas were soft and chewy while others were hard. I am sure I would have enjoyed the ice cream more and had I not had a big dinner prior to my visit would have indulged. Unfortunately their ice cream only comes in one size. Ive had class 520 before and gave it another try since it was the only one opened at the time I ordered it. Cool concept but it wouldn't be my go to for ice cream. I got the Rainbow Roll which consisted of ice cream with fruity pebbles and I added condensed milk, graham cracker,mangoes, and strawberries. IMO I thought the graham cracker could've been more crushed. Other than that, the ice cream was good. Thanks Class 520. read more

My 9 year old son has been asking to try rolled ice cream for a while and was very excited to come here. We came on a Friday late afternoon and were the only 2 customers at the shop. When we entered the shop, I greeted one of the employees. She directed us to use the large touch screen to place our order (there were 2 of these machines available). The employees didn't say much to us and were not very interactive. My son ordered the Oreo secret and I ordered the morning latte. I thought my ice cream was just okay and ate about half of my order. My son said his ice cream was okay and almost finished his entire order (I was impressed that he ate as much as he did). I would bring my son back for ice cream. But, I think next time I would skip the ice cream and try one of their beverages instead. read more
Pro: variety of flavors, games, clean environment, self ordering kiosk, outdoor seating. Con: small parking lot, limited amount of indoor seating. After we finished eating at a KBBQ my party decided that we needed to find a place to get some dessert to finish off the night and after looking on google we came across this establishment. The place has a limited amount of parking space but I believe you can park around the area if needed. The inside is very clean and has some board game to play as you eat. They have a self ordering kiosk and a menu board so that you can pick from their variety of flavors ice cream. I had the mad mango and then you are allowed to choose 3 topping to add with your ice cream. The taste was ok. All in all, an ok place to stop by and grab a bite if you are in the mood for ice cream. read more

If I'm going to be honest, I think that this was the best rolled I have had! The wait was not as long. The inside of the place smelled so good! The inside was very aesthetically pleasing. They had different variations of flavors to choose from. You can pay cash or credit to whatever you prefer. If you were wondering, they also sell boba tea! They have lots of flavors to. To see the menu check out the images I have posted. The employee was very sweet. She rolled the ice cream so well. The ice cream was not as sweet than you think depending on how many toppings you add. It was just perfect. I don't think anything else could get better that this! I got the Oreo Secret. It was very delicious and delightful to enjoy. I do recommend to stop by. read more

Very disappointed in the lack of effort put into the toppings. He put ONE strawberry slice inside and all the rest of the toppings were just dropped into the middle of the icecream. I came here because I was looking forward to the presentation of it but the aesthetic was very underwhelming. read more

Rolled ice cream OMG!! So good, i ordered after looking at all the pictures online and it was so so good. I ordered cookies and cream toppings with more Oreos for toppings and a chocolate sauce. It was delicious, you can't go wrong with this ice cream it's one of a kind. I can't wait to go back. read more

I really wanted to like this ice cream. Mainly because I love almost all ice cream and let's be real -it looks awesome for the 'gram. The actual making of the dessert, I'll admit was pretty entertaining, but where they lost me was the taste... Everything just kind of tasted like the base. It would probably help if they added more of each of the ingredients in? By the end, I really didn't want to finish it. The base just got to be too much. I wish I liked it more :( read more

Very first time i been wanting to go to the place for a while now and i am so happy that i went today. I purchase the zenyatta lighbulb tea which is good which green tea strawberry peach & mango blended over ice. It was so refreshing not sweet at all my friend purchased the mercy jasmine green tea w/ almond. Next time I will try rainbow roll ice cream the man greeted us has soon we walking in it was totally clean the tables was wiped down. I highly recommend i had a great experience read more
I love getting tea from Class 520. My current favorite is their black milk tea. They make it perfect every time and it is just so good! I believe its a winter exclusive drink so I will be drinking plenty of it before the season is over. Another favorite is their Thai milk tea. Their boba isnt the best but its still good! read more

I drove an hour with my friend to try this place because of the reviews, and it did not disappoint! The customer service was wonderful and they are cautious with covid protocols! We got rolled ice cream and it was delicious, worth the drive and great prices. read more

Not worth the hype or price of $6.89. Sign says they open at 12, they made us wait 30 minutes. They weren't ready. Ok. So I was hoping for like some discount or something for the long wait. ( wishful thinking ). Meanwhile I was told I could pay. Then the young guy kept on talking about how trashed he was last night at Echo. Not cool. He kept on telling his co worker how turnt he was and things he did. No joke. We all had our club days but talking about it at work no bueno. My friend pick Oreo one & I picked morning latte. The preppin of the ice cream is sort of cool. Kinda like cold stone but very basic. They pour your flavor from a plastic pitcher into a cup which then goes on the frozen plate. Then I had the option to pick my 3 toppings. This is where they lost stars. The topping choices were: animal crackers, nilla wafers!! Are you kidding me?!! Coco puffs, blue berries, strawberries and coconut flakes and some others. Which to me is very pre schoolish. Who mixes dry cereal into an ice cream? I chose: coconut flakes and strawberries for toppings and condensed milk for my syrup and a chocolate poky stick. The taste: average to mediocre. It wasn't very milky or tasting how ice cream should taste like. It was bland and not sweet enough for my taste buds. My strawberries tasted frozen and not fresh. I might come back later on but it's really not worth the trip. I didn't have to wait but it's definitely not worth waiting 20 minutes for ice cream. It's nothing compared to 10 below in New York. Pretty mediocre. It's really cool to watch the process of how it's made, but it doesn't taste as good as it looks. I ordered the strawberry lady, with marshmallow, wafers, and more strawberries (you can choose up to three toppings) and it tasted very bland in my opinion. It also does take kind of a while to make. It's worth it to check it out and see what the hype is about I guess, but I most likely will not be spending another $7 on this again lol. read more
It's been a while since I last came here, but it seems like they've expanded their menu to include bubble teas. I forgot how amazing their ice cream tastes here. Just watching them start with liquid and somehow end up with the finished product still baffles me. I think the 3 toppings & a free drizzle they give you is just enough to dress your dessert up to whatever your sweet tooth desires that day. I wasn't really feeling the bubble tea, though. I decided to get the Pharah: one of their specialty milk teas that's a mix of taro & almond flavors. The taro was very subtle and the almond tasted a little more floral than it did nutty. Not really sure if I really liked how this flavor combo turned out. The boba was a letdown -- a lot of undercooked ones mixed in with ones that were so soft, they stuck to your teeth. I like the novelty of the drink names (if you're an Overwatch fan/player, you'll know what I mean) & what they're served in (a lightbulb-shaped cup). I'd stick to the ice cream here. As for the drinks, I'd say stick to the basics and try not to get too fancy. read more
Great place to order some of those rolled ice creams you've probably seen pictures of on social media, snap a picture, and claim you've tried this trend, all after waiting 20-30 mins for your Thai iced cream. Gimmick such as watching your ice cream being made with liquid nitrogen? Perhaps, but the end result is pretty. Fresh ice cream right there, and you get to see them make those rolls! My husband and I tried Class 520 after dinner one evening. He got the key lime pie, and I got the strawberry matcha. The key lime pie sort of tasted like it, but more so of the graham cracker and not so much of the lime. They made it with plain base, crushed a piece of graham cracker and squeezed some lime juice to the base. The strawberry matcha one was a matcha base with some crushed strawberry pieces. It sort of tasted like matcha, more so of a hint, as the flavor was dominantly plain sweet cream. I didn't get the strawberry flavor in there. Given that this place is fairly new, perhaps I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Currently, the flavors aren't quite dominant, but with rumors that they'll expand to more than just rolled ice creams, I have hope, and I really hope that this place stays. It's like the type of guy you swear you wouldn't date...then giving in and thinking "OMG this whole time I could've tried but didn't"...yeah. Maybe that's just my perception because the sweet tooth every woman is "supposed" to have seemed to skip over me and onto someone else. Anyways, I swear this place could turn someone into a dessert lover. Take your pickiest friend who hates them and see what they have to say. The ice cream is literally perfect. So much flavor without being overly sweet, and it's rolled right in front of you! I love the concept of rolling ice cream for a couple reasons: it looks like you're eating more than you actually are, and it's beautiful to look at :) The green super giant is matcha ice cream mixed with strawberries, and you can choose up to 3 toppings from their array of fruits, sauces, and cereal. The Lucky Charms were a bit stale, so I'd probably stick to the fresh fruit. The Oreo flavor is so good I wouldn't even put toppings on it.
