I love this place. It's my favorite yogurt place over U-Swirl, or any others. The staff is always helpful and the flavors are delicious. There are a slew of toppings to choose from. While I will still keep my 5 star review, within the past few months they've changed their cookie dough topping. I don't know if it's a brand change, or batch change, but it's not as good. The cookie dough before were chunked bits, and now it seems like it's raw cookie dough that doesn't taste as appealing. I love the beachy décor. This location has outdoor seating which makes it ideal to enjoy the beautiful weather Reno has to offer. I haven't been out for fro yo in ages, and after coming here tonight I am sad I've been missing it for so long! One of my friends and I met up this evening to catch up at yogurt beach. The girls working there were very friendly and helpful with getting us samples. I tried the reeses flavor and the cookies and cream flavor. Both were delicious but the cookies and cream won. I topped it off with crushed oreos and was really pleased with my choice. We ate outside at one of the tables - weather was perfect. Greetings John Hurst and Tina Neighbors I just left Mayberry Yogurt Beach and wanted to let you know about my experience. I had gotten myself a big cup of frozen yogurt and was disappointed to see it was very gloppy...almost liquid. When I brought this to the attention of your worker who, by the way, refused to give his name, but he wears a cowboy hat and I have pictures of him, he told me that the machines could not keep up and that's just the way it came out. He then turned to make two milkshakes for two boys who were waiting. I waited thinking he would get back to me. Well, he didn't. He turned around and started helping a couple of older adults. I then walked around to the front of the counter and he asked me what else I wanted. I asked for a credit for another time. He refused and told me I could get the frozen yogurt now or just throw away what I just paid for. I thought that that would be futile if all of the yogurt was gloppy so since I realized he was not going to help me, I asked for your names or the managers'. He said he was not allowed to give out the owners or the managers' names as he would "get fired." So unfortunately, this is the only way I can contact you to let you know about my dissatisfaction. I have been a customer ever since you opened, have never asked for a credit nor have I had a negative experience. This is the first. In addition, as an educator I have purchased many gift cards for frozen yogurts for special occasions for my students or end of the year party. I wanted to keep my dissatisfaction private between us but I have no way of contacting you. In addition, when I took your worker's picture, he stated have a nice day but it was very condescending. I told him he didn't need to be condescending and replied, "Well if you're gonna take my picture, that's the way I'm going to be." We've been coming here at least 8 years and the last 2 visits were awful for customer service. The last time we came there was no hot fudge which my husband uses exclusively. One of girls behind the counter was like a ice cream nazi, yelling at us for entering the toppings area as the other were stepping up to the cashier and not waiting until they left the store. Never addressing the hot fudge outage or offering to refill it. This time we entered with our masks and were the only ones in the store. I asked if there was any reason that we were able to eat inside in Gardnerville, my answer was they didn't allow people to eat inside right now. This didn't answer the question. I just left it alone. After having a taster of one flavor and discussing it with my husband the girl behind the counter shouted across the store to pull my mask up. I'm very careful with masking however we were the only ones there and I had food in my mouth. Maybe the same nazi? As we were checking out, a woman came in with her 2 year old and forgot her mask so she had pulled her turtle neck up over her face but was questioned by the girl. We asked her if they had a mask to offer the woman and she snapped that they do not offer masks. To top it all off (no pun intended) as I checked out she asked if I wanted to leave a tip....Really!!!!! Ruuude to the core!!!! My daughter and I stopped in here two nights ago. We walked in and completely helped ourselves. A few of the items weren't that well stocked. There were two young girls talking the entire time. In other words, NO "let us know if you have any questions or need any assistance". When we went up to pay, one of the girls took my daughters cash then had the audacity to ask if she wanted to leave a tip!!! Are you kidding me? For what exactly? Your talking, your lack of any service. Yeah, here's your tip "do your job, work and be helpful and maybe someone will feel the need to leave you a tip. Zip your mouth and don't ask, that's actually RUDE! I won't go back here even though the ice cream was decent the service (or lack there of ) was sour. read more

Well I guess since I'm the "duchess" of Yogurt Beach I really should write a review but with my first sentence and 5 star rating, you can probably already figure out how this is gonna go. I literally crave yogurt beach every single day. Luckily I work like 50 hours a week and there isn't one super close to where I live so that helps me keep away from going more than once a week. This location is always clean and has nice young kids working there. They always say hello and goodbye honestly which is a nice trait you wouldn't expect teenagers these days to have. Most of them ask if you want a sample and if you have to ask them they have no issue getting them. I usually get a sample or two to see if I will sway from my always go to chocolate custard. I really do like all the flavors I taste but I go with the amazing smooth custard with peanut butter topping, chocolate chips, and chocolate sauce most of the time. So YUM. I always taste my husband's as well because he always mixes it up. There are endless combinations you can make with all the toppings and flavors. You are sure to find something that you love. If you go at a busy time you may not be able to find seating inside, the tables are like surf boards and mostly set up for groups of people rather than two person seating and I hate taking a whole table for just the two of us - but I do if we wanna eat there! Ample outdoor seating but not really usable in the winter. Anyways, I'll always come here or any of the other locations if I happen to be closer to them. read more

I enjoy their fruit flavored yogurts and their peanut butter flavored yogurt. They are all so tasty that it becomes hard to choose. They have people that work there that will let you sample the yogurt flavors. From candies, to nuts, to cereals, to fresh fruit, to delicious sauces it hard to go wrong with the many topping choices. They keep locking the doors way before closing and if they are still open at 8:50, all the toppings are closed down for the night so they can "clean the spoons"?? Yogurt Beach is my go to frozen yogurt shop in Reno! The reason why? The high quality and quantity of flavors/toppings! Yogurt Beach offers so many different flavors and flavor combinations. I think it's 16 to be exact. And each flavor is smooth, creamy, and refreshing. I typically don't get flavors other than the fruit flavors, but Yogurt Beach has changed my mind. Flavors like chocolate, caramel, or coffee tend to be too rich for my taste, but that's not the case here. All of the flavors are light. I especially love the fruity flavors like banana, mango, vanilla bean, and strawberry. They don't taste artificial at all, even if they are. I can pinpoint each and every flavor just by smelling it. And it tastes even better. Another great thing about this place is the amount of toppings they have to offer! I think they have about twice as many toppings as their competitor USwirl. From various types of cereals to fresh fruit, the toppings here are amazing! But my favorite toppings are the mochi and the cookie dough! The mochi is soft and chewy; it's not hard/stale like other places, and the cookie dough is never frozen. It might be chilled, but it's never rock hard, and that makes a huge difference in taste and texture! As for the staff, they're exceptional. They're always friendly and they ask you if you want to sample any of their flavors. They greet you and say goodbye to you as you leave. That may be a small detail, but it really makes the place even better. As for the atmosphere, it definitely has the beach/surfer theme going for them. I don't really care for it, but I like how they incorporate/commit to this theme. The decor on the walls and even the tables fit the theme. The tables are actually surf boards, which is cool! The only problem I have with the tables is that they're too small, and there aren't that many. Overall, I definitely recommend this place over any frozen yogurt shop in Reno. Always a treat! Friendly young people are always working here - keeping the place tidy and stocked. Rotating flavors are fun and nice to be able to sample them. Toppings (or bottomings if you do it like I do) are fresh and quality. Aside from the froyo, you can do a float or a freeze type thing that are super yummy. Atmosphere - The address says Mayberry but the entrance is on McCarran. There is a Mayberry entrance but then you have to drive the whole complex to get there. I guess it is all about which way you are coming from. Beach hut feel, while it is snowing outside, kind of a strange sensation. They even have a surf board table. What I find is funny is that they have a surf board on the wall advertising Land Shark, which is a Lager; I do not see any beer taps. Food Dessert - Pay for what you eat self-service frozen yogurt place. I enjoyed my selections. I loved the fresh fruit in the topping bar area. Service - There is not much to service here, or should I say not a lot of interaction. This is a self-service fill your own cup with frozen yogurt, and move to the topping bar. I love how you can move around the topping as it has an island plus more along the wall. They have two cup size, I got the small one and it was plenty big for me. But as soon as we got to the machines, one of the employees quickly visited us to help us make our selection with little sample cups. Then the next interaction was us all putting on cups on the scale at the same time, and pay for what you dished out for yourselves. We had gone for takeout a couple times earlier this summer and this place was doing well in terms of COVID compliance, making us feel safe. Tonight in the other hand was a different story - way too many people inside at one time to possibly be in compliance with the regulations. The kids who work here are great...they greet you with sincere enthusiasm and warm smiles. Lots of personality as they help you with desired samples. And the samples...some really hit the spot, and today was exceptional...had the white chocolate mousse and red raspberry! It didn't matter that it was chilly and attempting to snow, the frozen yogurt was so smooth and delicious, a real treat!! I don't usually come to this specific store bc it's not close to my neck of the desert, but my daughter's school was doing a fundraiser, and they are definitely worth going the distance. I think it's wonderful that Yogurt Beach is active within the community and are willing to help those in need by providing a fundraiser at any of their locations. And if all you need is a sweet tooth fix, I still highly recommend giving them a visit and enjoy a cup or two with all the fixin's you can pile!! read more

Reno has a tendency to be late on the food trends and then overdo it (hello AYCE sushi I'm lookin at you, and Pho joints are getting a side eye too). The latest and greatest is the Froyo craze. Specifically the trend towards "tart" yogurt with fresh fruit and mochi toppings favored by Asians in addition to the traditional sweet creamy type and candy/nut toppings. Yogurt Beach is a late comer on that bandwagon but they also expand their offerings to include floats and shakes/smoothies in a serve yourself style. (for the drinks you fill up a cup with yogurt and toppings and they pour in the soda or blend it for you). The store layout is actually one of the better I've seen. Instead of a straight cup-yogurt-topping-register line that makes you feel rushed in selecting, they have a wide open space for toppings with an island holding the fresh fruits and mochi (and more than one bin of each!) and various dispensers and bins holding the rest of the syrups and candies along the walls, with plenty of space to wander around while making your choice and no pressure to hurry up because of a line backup. They also have the largest selection of toppings I've seen so far. very fresh diced fruits, lots of syrups and hot fudge/caramels, various candies (almost looks like a candy store), several types of granolas, nuts, cereals, chocolate covered thingies. It was fun just to look at all the different topping options that I haven't seen at other yogurt places locally (dark chocolate raspberry cups, chocolate covered mini grahams). The decor is very beach themed with a giant fake palm tree, tiki hut style thatching, a hand painted beach mural, and tables are made out of surfboards, cute but kind of cheezy. I think they should play a soft background of beachy sounds hehe. Yogurt Beach is not affiliated with a national chain, supposedly they are all local. And while they are certainly a copycat, so are U-swirl, Mmmm yogurt, Plum Good, etc. I wish Reno would get a Menchies or Red Mango. But at this point I think we've reached our saturation point as far as froyo goes. also, one suggestion for ALL the froyo serve yourself places. Please offer smaller cups. Not everyone wants to eat a bucket of Froyo. It's a waste of paper to put 2 oz of froyo in a 32oz cup. ALSO if any of you offer Korean patbingsu or Filipino halo halo (shaved ice) OMG I WOULD LOVE YOU FOREVER. wouldn't be so hard to do, just add some more toppings and a shaved ice station. read more

I split my time between L.A and Reno, and until I found Yogurt Beach and Sweet Frog, would get on the plane with a giant tub of Pinkberry's signature, much-copied, sweet and tangy Original covered in fresh fruit and count the days until my next fix. I loooove fro-yo. But I'm lactose intolerant. I usually suffer through it with the help of lactase enzymes, but on occasion, I find a good dairy-free here, it seems to be rare though. The toppings here are pretty much endless, more than u-swirl. The beach theme is fun, but the surfboard tables are a little small. There's not a huge seating area, but they do have outdoor seating too. I will go out of my way to go to yogurt beach over u-swirl, mainly for the toppings and the atmosphere (the staff seem to be more happy than the ones at u-swirl, not sure why). When you enter, you grab a bowl, and fill with fro-yo, usually a staff member will offer a taste-test if you seem indecisive. Then you go crazy with toppings! Pay by ounce. They have stamp cards too! I think you can make a shake, with the help of staff (never done this one, I like fro-yo in its pure swirly, topping encrusted form). I'm not sure my two kids have ever been this quiet or have sat still for this much time before. The custard with a bit of hot fudge was like crack to both of them. Me...I felt the same way. $9 for four cups (two of them really small for toddlers) and a few toppings. Even had a dairy-free sorbet for the little princess. Awesome. I hadn't been in here before, but Samantha is correct when she says its not a U-Swirl knock-off. Its totally different. The flavors here are vastly different--more fruity flavors and some really unique stuff (Kona Coffee? Mint? Yum!). They also do shakes and floats and have yogurt you can take home. They also sell custard, something none of the other froyo places do. Toppings are plentiful and great. And I like the layout with those over to the side so you don't have to wait to weigh in and pay while others add toppings. Good stuff. Today I had the rasberry and the coffee and the wife had a vanilla custard, cake batter, and coffee. All of the flavors were outstanding. Frozen yogurt heaven right here. My favorites are plain vanilla and once in awhile they have a greek yogurt flavor...yum! My kiddos love this place. On a hot summer day after the water park this place is on my mind. Normally I have to stand over the kids and limit their portion size and how much candy/sugar filled num nums they pour on their frozen yogurt. Yogurt Beach is by far the best yogurt spot in Reno. This particular location never disappoints. They have pretty standard flavors with occasional switches to some seasonal flavors. You do have to ask for samples, but the employees are always willing to assist! They have almost every possible yogurt topping and their topping area is clean and organized! They also have the option to mix your choices into a milkshake as well as additional hot syrup toppings (a rarity sometimes). They price by the weight and their prices are pretty standard. There is nothing like a frozen treat on a hot summer day. Yogurt Beach definitely delivers. Yogurt Beach is set up like many of the self serve yogurt shops - a wall of levers with delicious flavor options. The only difference is that you don't do samples yourself. A staff member will actually come out to the wall and serve you a taste of whatever you would like. When you have made your decision you fill up the cup yourself. I decided on the vanilla and chocolate frozen custard swirl - oh yeah! It was delicious. Rich, creamy and perfectly flavored. It was also the right texture, not icy at all but did not melt too quickly either. That's a good thing when the next stop is loading up the cup with toppings. Everything from cereals to nuts and candy bar pieces. The shop itself is set up very nicely as well with the "beach" theme. Tables inside are surf boards and there is plenty of seating. The only thing keeping it from being a 5-star location are the flies inside the shop. We wanted to sit at one of the surf boards, but there were too many flies zooming around us and trying to get to the delicious frozen yogurt/custard. We eventually moved outside where there were no flies. I guess that's what happens when you have a wonderful sweet treat, everyone wants a piece! read more

This review is of the staff. 5-frickin' stars. They are all happy, friendly, nice young people, which is just a pleasure. Reno, all around actually, appears to be an extremely friendly place. The yogurt, for one reason or another, didn't appeal. There are three or four different vendors of the yogurt, custard, and sorbet. The machines create a superbly consistent and creamy product, but even though I'm not a huge fan of Yo Cream brand frozen yogurt, I preferred it to the Rainbow-something-or-other that they had in certain flavors. Everyone raved about the "cake batter" but I've had much better at Golden Spoon and at the yogurt store in Lafayette, Ca (next to the Whole Foods on Mt. Diablo) of what real "cake batter" should taste like. The toppings bar is extensive, and I can totally see why people rave about it. It's $0.35/oz. I'd come back for a pick-me-up from the adorable staff. Loved them all. I wouldn't necessarily have the yogurt, but it isn't inedible. It just didn't move me. Word of warning: the hours everywhere are posted wrong. Here on Yelp, it says they are open Sun-Thursday until 10p. On the website, it claims they are open until 11p everyday. In fact, they close (at least Sun-Thursday) at 10:30p. read more
