YOLO... one of the few options on both Captiva and Sanibel islands to rent a golf cart. It's specifically for Captiva but there are few options along either island. I was less than impressed with our whole experience. We booked a golf cart for the weekend ahead of our stay, and only got the confirmation email of our payment and nothing more. Not any type of instructions on when or how to get the golf cart, when their website says they will deliver it and we requested we wanted it delivered when we made the reservation.. So we call that morning when it's open and they say to come pick it up- still never any communication more than that about our whole reservation. If we hadn't called I'm not sure they ever would have followed up with us. Then, we go to pick it up and probably get one of the crappiest golf carts I've ever used lol. And I was a golfer so I've used many a golf cart- this one struggled to even go like 8mph. We also saw other golf carts rented from another business on the island that were multitudes nicer than the one we got. And I wouldn't have a huge problem with a low quality golf cart except we paired nearly $200 to have it for a little over a day. That's kind of nuts, even for a tourist island. All in all it was just disappointing and a pain to use YOLO for a rental service. If I come back to the island I'd use a different rental company. read more

Yolo is a cute little shop on Captiva located right next to the beach. They are your typical beach shop with shirts, hats, sunscreen, water toys and more. They also offer rentals. We have been renting from Yolo for the last few years to rent a golf cart. Golf carts on the island are so much easier than always moving your car. We always call ahead of time, about 3-4 months to make our reservation. I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time as they could be sold out of the items you want. While we were picking up our golf cart, there were other customers renting chairs and umbrellas for the beach. They rent lots of different items so it would be best to check them out ahead of time when planning. There is another rental company but we prefer Yolo. I believe they are a little cheaper at Yolo so we prefer to go to them. My only complaint is the upkeep of the golf carts. The first one we rented, the steering was off and the seats were moldy. We returned it for another one and the second cart would not start sometimes and then it would jerked real fast. I think they are used so much it is hard to keep up with them but they definitely need to be looked at. My only other complaint is their deposit policy. We had to put a $500 dollar deposit down when we made the reservation. That is fine, we expect that but when we went to pick up the golf cart for the week, they did not apply the deposit to the total. Instead we had to pay for the week, almost 500 dollars plus the deposit and then wait for the deposit to be put back when we returned the cart. So basically they almost 1000 dollars of our money when our cost for the week was around 450. Besides those two, this is a great location, conveniently located and easy to use. I would recommend checking them out when planning your vacation. read more

Found these guys to be super helpful, chill, and inexpensive. We were able to get a yeti cooler bag which we used every day of our vacation filled it with goodies and had a perfect ice all day long. We also got six of their sand chairs which are off the hook awesome. We kept them in the back of our SUV and just walked him out to the beach each morning, they're on the heavy side but it's worth it! This was my first time parasailing and couldn't have picked a more beautiful place than in Captiva Island. We had beautiful weather and got to be dipped towards the end of our flight. We bought the picture package and received a SIM card after our flight. YOLO gets by in much of the same way that most Captiva businesses get by: there is no other option. While there is another competitor on the small island of Captiva, I will not name them in the review. This is about YOLO and I will review them as such. My husband and I have been renting golf carts and "scoot coupes" (essentially go carts you can drive through the island) from YOLO for the past few years. They have, in our opinion, reasonable prices for renting golf carts, although they do fill up quickly with reservations. Their scoot coupes have been available every time we've asked, probably because of the exorbitant price AND the fact that they only seat 2. However, if you're going on vacation with just a partner or a best buddy, I highly recommending renting one for the experience. Trust me. But anyways, on our most recent trip we rented a golf cart. Picking it up and dropping it off took minutes, which I loved, but I wish the service was a little more personable. I love making connections, as does my hubs, so it would be cool to talk to an employee who was interested in speaking more than just 'hi' and 'bye.' But more than anything, the brakes on our golf cart were acting up. It caused a couple of moments of panic at stop signs throughout the island. Overall, I feel as if YOLO is just... okay. Without many options around, it's hard to avoid them. (And I have to admit, I want to try their banana boat excursion.) But improving their customer service could easily catapult them from 3 stars to 4 or 5, and that's what I care about. read more

So some reviews weren't very positive so I admit I was a little paranoid, but I didn't experience one problem with them. The prices were very reasonable and they offered a few more options than the other place did. Made reservation in advance and they took a deposit and sent us a confirmation. I called a week before we arrived to confirm and everything was all set. Arrived 10 mins before they opened and the nice young lady opened the doors and let us come in and pick up our cart. Check in and getting the cart was quick and simple. We were in and out in minutes. The cart was in good working order and we had no issues with it the entire rental time. Since we had to leave early the friday after thanksgiving we had to return it on thanksgiving by 3pm. It was quick and simple and all friendly service. Highly recommended! read more

This place is a joke. I walked in with my 3yr old daughter and they just glared at us. I said hello and that we were just looking around since we just got here that day. The only acknowledgement we got was a look of "why are you even here." Ok I thought maybe it was just me. A couple days later my wife asked for some sunscreen and chapstick..I took my 7yr old nephew with me bc he wanted to check the place out because it "looks cool." We walk in get the sun screen, chapstick & body boards. ($56 for all the above) I can handle the price bc of the location. However, when going to check out I realized I had grabbed the wrong chapstick. So I put it back but could not find the kind my wife wanted. After looking for a couple minutes (ya know bc heaven forbid the snobby girl behind the counter get off her phone and ask if we needed help) I asked where the said chapstick was. She pointed and said right there. Ok I'll look again on the decent size display that I've already scanned over and over.. so I laughed out loud to myself and said something along the lines of I must be blind bc I definitely don't see it. I then apologized to the girl and said I'm sorry but I just don't see it and laughed about how blind I must be. She then got extremely rude and pointed and said in such a condescending tone "ITS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE." Enough for my 7yr old nephew to ask me what that girls problem was as we left. I should have said something to her & her boss. But I chose to be an adult and continue about my day with my family. After reading other reviews on here im glad to know it wasn't just me that thought "wtf." If I could leave this place a 0 for stars I would. We came to Yolo Watersports after having lunch on Captiva Island. Our family of 7 was in Florida to celebrate a Birthday/Retirement/Family Vacation/Christmas you name it and we probably toasted to it. Most of us were in the mood for adventure and to do something fun, but kind of scary. Parasailing seemed like the perfect opportunity. Yolo has a cool shop full of watersports gear, rental, trinkets etc.. (I got a woven bracelet and a toe ring.) They also had an adorable puppy in training behind the counter. The staff was very laid back and prompt to answer any questions we had. After laying out the dough, we walked down the beach to meet our guide and the boat. (We changed into suits in the bathroom, car and port-o-potty. Not a ton of room was available.) Now we didn't exactly seek adventure on the most sunny or windy day. The sun was pretty much playing peek-a-boo. One minute you'd be blinded and trying to see down the beach and the next overcast and shivering. That's what we get for going to Florida in December though. The 5 dare devils in our party waded out through thigh high water and climbed up the side of the boat. I can't tell you how far we drove out or even what direction but these guys knew what they were doing. We went up in pairs, so my Dad got to go twice. After safely harnessing us (harness, life vest) in and giving us the most basic of instructions then the first pair went up. My poor sister shrieked like a banshee much to our delight, but calmed down after awhile. I can't say how long each pair was up in the air but it felt longer than it should have been. We figured the guys were bored on a slow day and were being generous. Worked out great for us! My husband I were the second pair to go up. It's an amazing experience to be floating that high and to see so much around you. Just as a I started to calm down a bit from initial panic, my smart alec husband started humming the Jurassic Park theme song. I laughed along until I realized, that we didn't have any instructions to signal below if something did go wrong! Thankfully we are both calm people, and nothing did go wrong but we wouldn't have known what to do! When we were up in the air, we saw a sea turtle surface and dive below again. We experienced dolphins along the boat and my sisters even saw sting rays from up above. All around the experience was great. We would definitely go back and use Yolo sports again. read more

Their three star rating is deserved. Workers were a little rude when we rented bicycles and none of them had masks on. They incorrectly installed my sons car seat on the back of the bike. When I went to adjust the seat the whole car seat tipped backwards and was not latched in any way. I figured out how to attach correctly but geeze. Their prices were fair and the bikes were decent otherwise. Just some education seems needed on how to be kind, COVID safe and to install kids seats. read more

However, the people working at the actual store were not wearing masks and were very rude towards us and other customers. We understand there's a pandemic and times are hard, but basic customer service is not hard to provide. We parasailed and took a 2 hour wave runner excursion with YOLO during our trip. We were lucky to have the same gentleman who took us parasailing as our guide on our wave runner excursion. I think his name was Grant and he was great! I personally am scared of heights but did the parasail anyway. They were great with our 15 and 14 year old boys, and they were fun and just the right amount of helpful for both days we did things with them. I would highly recommend the wave runner excursion, so much fun! We were able too see dolphins, even sit our wave runners still in the midst of them while they jumped around us. He taught us how to do donuts (I didn't know how) and we got to pick up shells for a bit. Absolutely beautiful and very fun tour. Our boys loved it even though they couldn't drive yet at their age. read more

4 of us went parasailing for the first time. They took us up to 800' for 12 minutes. We all really enjoyed the birds eye view. The cast-off and reel -in was very smooth. The boat captain & mate were very friendly and reassuring. There isn't a lot of parking here and if you need a restroom they only have a port-o-let out back, which in 98 degree heat isn't good at all:( Anyways, we had a great time with them and would recommend them to anyone wanting a sky view of the islands. Several shout outs to YOLO Watersports. We had several interactions with them this week and all were overwhelmingly positive. Firstly, I needed to rent 4 bikes for the week we were going to be staying at South Seas Island Resort. We usually use Sunny Island Adventures for all of our rentals bc they are right next to the resort, but they were working on a first come, first served basis (and prices seemed to have gone up). YOLO was able to reserve 4 bikes for us at $43/6 days for each bike. We also rented paddle boards from them mid-week. $17/board for 30 minutes (Sunny Island = $35/board for 30 minutes). They had 4 boards available right away, allowed me to park at their shop while we used the paddle boards, and the beach staff were even nice enough to set up an umbrella for me while I watched my group of kids paddle board. Every person we dealt with there was super friendly and helpful. We come here every summer and will be using YOLO for our equipment rentals from now on. read more

We decided to rent jet skis on our last visit to Sanibel. After calling around, I decided to go with YOLO. The guy that answered the phone was friendly, polite and straightforward about the costs etc. They were also one of the most affordable places on the island. On arrival, we were immediately greeted and tended to! They asked us to leave our car keys there, and directed us to their location on the beach. After a quick 2 minute walk we arrived and were given our life vests and Yamaha skis! They pointed out the area we were allowed to ride in, reviewed the rules for safety, and set us free! We had a lot of fun! The jet skis were in good condition and I got mine up to 40+mph. We had lots of room to roam, so there was no time to be bored! I will definitely rent from Yolo again! I found Yolo Watersports through trip advisor while searching for activities to do in Captiva. I called ahead to reserve a fly boarding session for my friends and I. Even from my initial phone call, the staff was very friendly and it was very easy to book a time slot. The employees of this store were chill and even friendlier in person. It was definitely a much younger crowd from the average age of the island, which was like 70. The girl (sorry forgot her name) who was helping us was pretty funny too, she had jokes. I told them I was interested in the Waboba ball (the ball that bounces on water) so they let me borrow theirs and guaranteed I would have fun with it. It worked! I ended up purchasing one from them. I suggest that if you plan on spending more than a few hours on the beach, get one! They're a lot of fun and the ball keeps you active and entertained for hours. I had done fly boarding in Cabo last Sept. so I had some expectations this time around, but it was completely different from my previous experience. Chris was our instructor and he was very knowledgeable. He was very relaxed and didn't want to over complicate things. He gave us a few important tips and had us experience it for ourselves to figure out what worked for us. His prices were also very reasonable compared to what I had paid in Cabo. Bonus: We asked Chris for some suggestions for dinner and he gave us a handful of places to try. We ended up trying Sweet Melissa's and it was the best meal I had on the island during my entire trip. I would recommend YM and Chris to anyone traveling to Captiva/Sanibel. read more

Terrible experience! If you want to spend your money on vacation don't bother going to YOLO. Employees are extremely rude and patronizing. For two days in a row they did not have any of the beach rentals available but they were lazy to give an explanation as to why. Instead of trying to accommodate our request they were dismissive and RUDE! They know they have a Captiva audience and they just don't care about customer service. Stay away!!! You will be thankful. Take your hard earned money elsewhere, such as Sunny Island adventures (which is right around the bend). I would give negative stars if I could. read more

Our double stroller needed some air in its tires. So I stopped in here and asked if we could inflate the tires? They actually have a decent sized shop with fun beach accessories (balls, frisbees, that sort of thing) hats, sunglasses, etc. I never would have known had I not stopped in. Not sure if it was the owner, but a very kind man, asked where the stroller was, then pushed it over to the back of the shop, meticulously inflated the tires, smiled and said, "happy New Year" Thank you kind man and Happy New Year to you too. Fun stuff - I went parasailing with a few friends earlier today with Yolo and it was a good time. At $65/person plus a tip for the crew, it's not super cheap, but the views of Captiva and Sanibel from a few hundred feet up are amazing and a worthwhile addition to our island vacation. The staff were friendly and fun, and the reservation/waiver/ process was straightforward. They also rent all kinds of go-fast things (jetskis, scooters, bikes and the like) as well as a bunch of go-slow things (wagons, jogging strollers) - although I can't comment on that process. read more
