I had always wanted to try either their Piña Colada or their Danky Durian one but decided to play it safe since I had never tried this place before. This is why I went with a flavor I typically default to whenever it's offered. Black Sesame ($7.19) I really thought this couldn't go wrong but the tanginess of the yogurt was very overpowering in comparison to the black sesame flavor :( The black sesame flavor was good in it of itself but I think the yogurty sourness would work much better with the aforementioned flavors I didn't end up ordering Definitely a filling drink though so I'd give this place another try :D read more

This has become my favourite yogurt drink place, and I sometimes prefer it over bubble teas as I find yogurt drinks more satisfying. I think you have to like yogurt to like their drinks though. I have tried both the signature peach yogurt as well as the white peach teagurt. The signature yogurts are thicker and the teagurt is an interesting mix of tea slush and yogurt, but both have little pieces of peach inside. read more

So disappointed! I have been looking forward to trying their purple rice drink for weeks. I went on Saturday evening and they ran out of purple rice. I opted for the matcha drink instead. They have pieces of chestnuts (I think?) in the drink, it was rough and dry. I didn't like that very much. The durian drink was ok but the sourness of the yogurt doesn't mix really well together. Purple Rice yogurt drink? I didn't know what to expect. It's actually a liquidy yogurt drink with whole grains of cooked purple rice floating around in it. It can drink like a meal, sort of. Before trying their drink, I had read some reviews here about how the yogurt taste was pretty tart. I thought it was going to be so tart like those Menchie's or Yogurty's tart sorbet. Thankfully, Yomies yogurt is only lightly tart. They use 100% biodegradable sungarcane straws, which I appreciate. I'm sure these straws cost significantly more than regular straws so it helps justify their price being a bit on the high side. I plan to try their mango coconut, durian, and Pina colada. Great alternative to boba in Commerce Gate! They have a good collection of flavours, but my favourite is the classic purple rice yogurt or the purple rice yogurt with red bean. The yogurt is on the tart side, but the taste really grows on you. Given the purple rice topping, it can be quite filling. A bit expensive (although that could be said for most drink shops these days), but worth a try for sure. read more

Yomies has finally opened their first store here in Canada! Their yogurt smoothies are freshly made and fermented in house. We tried the purple rice and durian yogurt smoothies and they were refreshing and delightful! I've never had anything like this before so it was definitely unique. The purple rice had a great texture with a hint of sourness from the yogurt. The durian was creamy and fragrant. Yomie's Rice Yogurt appeared on my social media feed and it looked interesting. As someone who tries to avoid dairy I knew this place would be bad for my acne --- for my taste buds it was a pretty good idea. Yomie's caters to a more Eastern-Asian palate so you'll have items like red jubejube, durian, matcha, hawthorn, red rice and best of all, it's not sickeningly sweet like a milkshake! I ran across the street to try this place out and was a tad disappointed they weren't doing a promotion for their opening as it's not exactly the cheapest thing. Prices range from $6.5-$7 depending on what you get. My two drinks totalled $13 but I was shocked to learn they accepted Amex! They don't accept cash so prepare to tap/insert your card. The cashier was super helpful in explaining the flavours and informing me that the sweetness level wasn't extremely sweet. Since this was a blended yogurt, it can only be made as a cold drink. They have a limit on the # of ppl in the store at one time and take your temperature while you're in line. There are circles on the floor to mark where you're supposed to stand. Interesting concept! I may be back if they make something like a Lao Bei Jing yogurt for eating. read more

I've never heard of Yomie's / tried it before it opened Markham. I went during the soft opening days so it was busier than normal. People were spaced out 6ft. apart and they provided us with free peanuts during our wait. The staff were very helpful in explaining the different flavours and the process in making the yogurt. It's made daily in-house! We opted for the Pineapple Banana one, the red bean, red dates, strawberry and oat. We wanted to try the purple rice one, but it was sold out. The drink was very yummy and filling (almost like a meal / mid-day snack) that will keep you filled until dinner time. The yogurt was subtle tasting, with a burst of the flavor that you order - a nice break from bubble tea. I am the kind of guy that normally hates yogurt. Yomie's proved me wrong. During their recent soft opening, I went with some friends and had the chance to try a few drinks. Their original yogurt with purple rice is quite good but it is thick so best to think of it more like a snack rather than a drink. The mango drink is sweet and delicious. My personal favorite is the green tea one - it's not too bitter but the green tea flavor is not diluted either. It was very smooth and I enjoyed it the most. There is a line up but I didn't have to wait too long. As it is their soft opening I wasn't expecting there to be a line up to be honest but the service was good. What I really appreciated was their efforts to keep me safe during the pandemic by limiting the people inside the restaurant and having designated entrances and exits. Personal thoughts, I love the idea of Yomie's yogurts. As a bubble tea fan, it's hard to justify getting bubble tea all the time since it's quite unhealthy with the starch in the tapioca and the abundant amounts of processed sugar. After speaking with the manager, I find that the yogurt is a great source of calcium and low in sugar. The purple rice is also a great source of fiber. The first time I tried Yomie's yogurt, I loved it. It was not too sweet, thick and the oats added the right amount of chew. It was definitely more like a filling snack than a drink. The second time I purchased, my drink was poorly blended and there were large amounts of crunchy ice chunks in it. I got the same drink (oats yogurt). I figured the second time I purchased it may have been an off day so I decided to go back. Got the same drink - yogurt oats - and it was really watery. For their inconsistency in drinks, I'll had to drop my rating. I love the yogurt oats, I find the a perfect alternative to bubble tea but I would appreciate some consistency in the drinks. read more
