After calling around to various repair shops nearby, Jack's Automotive won my business by assuring me that my vehicle would be received, reviewed, and issues resolved quickly. Nothing about that assertion was true. After the initial phone call, communication from staff and ownership was abysmal. After the third business day of not hearing from anyone at the shop, I called and politely requested a status update. No updates. Nothing. It was as if I had to remind them my car was on their lot. On the fifth day with no report, finally I was begrudgingly assuaged (not very convincingly) that someone would call me by EOD to finally provide a vehicle assessment and potentially review repair cost with me. Unfortunately no one ever did. Needless to say, after waiting six days and finding out my car still had yet to be diagnosed, all confidence in the competency and professionalism of this establishment vanished. It was only after I told them I wanted to take my car elsewhere that "work" was actually completed by their team. Oddly, it took less than two hours after I said I wanted to take my business elsewhere for them to tell me my alternator needed to be replaced. At this point I continued to play along with the charade just to see if I could get an estimate for repair cost. However, it was not a revelation to find out even that was too much to ask. I was repeatedly told that an estimate for cost would be rough at best and in a ballpark and that could be (and would be) more. Honesty, transparency, and being forthcoming with information are clearly not present nor practiced by this business. Yeah, ok... I've digressed. My spidey-senses had been on high alert for several days already and this was the last straw. It took them 6 days (5 business days) and as many phone calls to finally provide the highly dubious diagnosis of an alternator replacement that they couldn't (would not) even price out. I quickly paid the $200 invoice for the non-existent work performed on my vehicle and got out of there as fast as I could. I'm grateful that's all they were able to swindle me for and nothing more. Fortunately, soon after I went with another nearby repair shop who came highly recommended. The experience was night and day. I'm grateful to report my car's electrical issue was finally and rightly fixed. Oh, and wouldn't you know it, surprise, surprise... it was NOT a "bad" alternator! In summary, considering the level of incompetence and rudeness incurred while dealing with Jacks Automotive, I've been compelled to warn anyone considering using this business. AVOID TAKING YOUR CAR HERE AT ALL COST!!! I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for reliable automotive repairs. Negative reviews like this come from real people who've had real world experience. Do yourself a favor and learn from our misfortune.

I've had so many bad experiences with car mechanics over the years that I have come to just expect…read moreit, mostly in the form of blatant overcharging for work, recommending unneeded repairs (hello, brakes that somehow need to be replaced every year!), and sometimes just outright shoddy work. I'd become convinced that this is just the normal state of things, part of the game when owning a car. They overcharge you, you push back and work out a price that's still too high but whatever. They try selling you unneeded work, you decline, they push, you decline again, they come up with other unneeded services, you decline. Etc., etc., ad nauseum. So I've been more than a bit shocked at my experiences at Doerr's. No drama, no overcharging, no constant overselling of services, nothing. Just quiet, competent work for a fair price. You drop off the car and ask him to do an oil change? He'll do the oil change and charge you a nominal price, not 3x the going rate with an added note that you need to change your brand-new brakes because they're "wearing thin". You drop off the car for a New York inspection? He sees you need new wipers, calls to tell you so, charges you $18 per wiper - not $80 - and your car is ready for pickup. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but, to my perpetual amazement, it never does. It's my highest compliment, one I feel uneasy giving given how many times I've been let down by other mechanics, but- this guy is honest. He and his shop are a diamond in the rough.

Brendan's Auto Body is the most amazing place I have gone for significant car work. My car (2012 BMW 135i) is my baby. I hand wash it every other week, wax it, give it 4 hour deep cleans and leather treatment, etc. When I was rear-ended by another car, I was devastated. Apart from the back bumper and trunk lid being pushed in, I had locking mechanism troubles with my driver's side door. I just wanted it fixed and back to perfect condition that it was before the accident. In comes Brendan. I pulled up to Brendan's Auto Body located on a fairly busy street. They manage very well with the space they have. It is crowded though, because everyone is getting their work done here (which is a very good sign). Brendan greeted me as soon as I got out of my car and asked me what was wrong. He took a liquid chalk marker and proceeded to highlight on my car all the issues I wanted to have addressed while in the shop. He even wrote a note on the driver's side door to look at my locking mechanism that I suspected was damaged during the collision. This immediately made me feel like all my issues would be addressed. After going through the whole car, we went inside where his attentive staff helped guide me through the insurance paperwork and any other concerns I had (ex. wanting OEM parts and replacements rather than patches). After the shop linked me up with Enterprise to get my rental car, I did not hear from Brendan's for almost 2 weeks. Though, leaving there I had full faith my car was in the best hands possible. Today, I received a call that my car would be ready in an hour and a half. When I arrived, I was again met by Brendan and shown my car. Not only was my car fixed to IMPECCABLE standards, but the inside of my car had been detailed, cleaned, and vacuumed. The outside of my car had been fully washed and waxed. My wheels had been detailed and cleaned as well. Brendan went around the car with me and looked at all the angles. He even caught little smudges from the waxing that escaped me. After noticing it, he made sure to call his employee over to take care of it on the spot. He made sure I was 100% happy with everything before giving me the keys and sending me on my way. In summation, Brendan's Auto Body is THE PLACE to go for auto body work. I will not go anywhere else, because this is the only shop that pay attention to detail as much, if not more, as I do to my car. Thank you Brendan!

My car had been towed there by Elmsford PD after a car accident. I wasn't allowed to call my own…read moretow or request where my car was taken. Additionally, I was never informed of cost/ fees associated. My car was scheduled to be towed to the dealership performing the repair, I spoke with Reina to notify them my car was being towed. She sent me an authorization form that stated I was aware there would be a $125 fee. I called to ask about why they were not upfront with the fees, she screamed at me to sign the form, then said "I guess you don't want your car back!" and hung up on me. I reluctantly agreed to sign the form, sent it to her and emailed that I would be coming in to retrieve items out of my car before it was towed. When I went out to my car, I looked to make sure they hadn't done anything to my vehicle, and noticed there was a piece that they had ripped off. I understand there are times when something has to be removed for safety during a tow, but they are supposed to document everything done, and why. I took photos. My insurance then called me to notify me that the tow had gone there, but was not authorized to spend the exorbitant amount they were charging, so they had to leave. I called Brandon's to explain that a piece from my car had clearly been removed. Reina was nasty and condescending on the phone, ended up saying she has no idea and maybe something had been removed but has no way of knowing. How do you have no way of knowing when it was done by the shop you work at? She ended up transferring me to the owner. When I explained the situation to him he said "if you got proof come here and show me." I went in, showed him the photo of my car at the seen of the accident. He told me that the part I was showing him was a piece of the other persons car (it clearly was not), I told him it was not, he said "well then it's still there." I said it was not there and I would just like to know what was removed, why and have it documented, as it is my right to do so. He went out to look at my car. While he went out, I asked Reina for an itemized bill (as it's my right to have). She said "no," when I asked why she wouldn't give it to me, she said "because I said so, you're not even paying, insurance is." My insurance, that I pay for, for my car, that I also pay for and she's telling me I have no right to the bill? I said okay, then explain the charges to me (my insurance had given me a rundown of what they were told the charges were). I asked why I was being charged an inspection fee, a labor fee, and why I was being charged $250/ day instead on the $125 listed on the release form. She rudely stated "Things cost money, what did you expect it to be free?" I said absolutely not, but I am entitled to know what I'm being charged for and why, she once again went on about how I wasn't being charged, insurance was. Agin, my insurance, that I pay for, for my car.... Any honest company would be more than willing to tell you why they are charging you the amount they are, and would be more than willing to provide an itemized copy of the bill if they have nothing to hide. The owner then comes back in screaming at me about how the parts were all still on my car, nothing had been removed and that when they drove the car it got moved under the wheel (complete lie). He then started screaming at me to bet him $1,000 that it was there. I told him I would not be betting him, but would like to know what was done. Again starts screaming at me to bet him, because that's a professional way to conduct business and carry yourself as a company owner. I said okay, well it clearly was removed, but if you won't admit it then let's move on to the charges.He refused to answer any questions pertaining to the charges or amount and continued screaming about how he gave me a nice discount. He then began asking me why I was getting the car towed off his lot and where I'd be getting the work done (why would I want to get it done by him after the way they treat customers). I told him, not that I needed to, he then began talking down to me saying dealerships can't do repairs and they'll send it out elsewhere. (some dealers don't but some do, the place I'm bringing it does them there). He began once again talking over me, talking down to me like I was stupid about how the dealer was going to send my car to a body shop. Why does it matter? I would hire anyone to fix my car before I hired him. He then told me my car was totaled, it is not. He told me it's an old model (literally a 2024 lol). And asked me if the air bags went off, if the air bags had gone off, I'd imagine he'd notice when he went out to look at my car. He then went on about his various titles and how he's on the board of the Westchester automotive something or other (not that it matters or anyone asked). My front seat also had debris all over it after they towed it and the owner refused to acknowledge where it came from. This company is extremely corrupt, charging illegal rates.
