Robin was super kind and helpful. I told her that I needed this piece by a certain date and she said it would be no problem. It's a week after the date they said it would be ready and it's not ready. Tomorrow was my drop dead. I don't buy that the committed date is just an estimate. The day before it was originally supposed to be ready they discovered that they didn't have the product they needed to do the job. Really? Wouldn't you have checked that sooner? I'm super disappointed bc this place does do a nice job. But you can't count on them. And you have to follow up with them. Nothing proactive happening here. Bummed. read more

I recently had some very special artwork framed at York Framing Gallery. It was a very custom job, in that it would include five individual Native California flowers, framed side-by-side in a long horizontal row. The "special" aspect of this job was the fact that these scientific illustrations were created by my talented daughter. Though I know that I probably could have done the framing myself, I know from experience that I should hire a professional for some things. ...and there's no way I could have done the framing myself with anything near the quality that I got from the pros at York Framing Gallery. I had some ideas about what I wanted, but needed the expertise of York to tell me if my idea was feasable. Robin and her friendly, helpful team helped me pick out frame styles and matte colors. We tried lots of different combinations. That was a lot of fun. Later, my daughter and I saw that there was going to be a special "Art of Nature" exhibit at the Santa Cruz "Museum of Natural History", and they were accepting submissions from artists wanting to participate. The submission required a framed piece, ready for hanging and the scientific illustrations were just the sort of thing they were looking for. ...so she filled out the application and submitted a photo of the framed pieces and then we crossed our fingers for a month, waiting to hear back, When we did hear back from the museum, we were delighted to find that my daughter's framed illustrations were selected to participate in the Art of Nature exhibit. Though it was my daughter's artwork that won her an opportunity to participate in the museum event, I know that the quality of the framing by York Framing Gallery accentuated and presented the illustrations in a very special way through thoughtful consideration of frames, matting, and complimentary colors. By last minute I mean less than 24 hours. I was stressing out to say the least but Robin and her team alleviated that stress by being informative, flexible and by doing a terrific job. I almost gave this review only 4 stars because there was an issue with the placing of the order, but this problem was handled in such a professional manner, that when I thought it through I realized that that is EXACTLY how we all wish such situations would be handled by every business we deal with. Very disappointed. I came here with two artworks - an oil painting that needed to be stretched and a gouache. The painting was stretched ok, just ok, nothing outstanding - with some minor waves, but it looks great compared to the other artwork. I wanted a particular color of matting, but they did not have it in the size that I needed. As a result the manager convinced me to go for a much darker tone than I initially planned. I decided to trust the specialist. After almost three months of waiting and almost 400 dollars spent on the framing I received the artwork that looks extremely dark, gloomy and doesn't not match the color of my kitchen (I showed the photos of the kitchen to the manager when we were choosing the matting). If it was not for the unusual size of the artwork, Ikea would be a 100 better and 20 times cheaper solution. I regret choosing this framing gallery. read more
