I recently went into Yorkshire shoes this October 2025 and had the sales person Diane helping me out. I explained to Diane the issue I was having with my lower back legs and feet due to an injury. After trying several sneakers she found me the perfect fit which were the Brooks sneakers. Diane understood my needs and she fit me with the perfect sneaker that I aim able to use daily. I decided to return to the store two weeks later and ask for Diane again. She remembered me and I told her this time I needed an indoor outdoor slipper, that would work as well as my sneakers. Again she was able to accommodate my needs and I left the store with two pairs of slippers. The Olukai and Prophet are a perfect fit. I needed to replace my everyday shoes. I'm on my feet all day (on cement floors) so my foot doctor recommended going to Yorker and trying on some quality brands of running shoes. Joe was my sales person and he was so nice and patient. I ended up going with his suggestion of a Brooks running shoe. He sized my feet and got me the best size to fit them. These are the worst people!!!! My husband and i went here after my husband had his right leg amputated and a partial foot amputation on his left. We needed to find shoes for him. Obviously we needed some special help. We went there thinking they would help. The owner helped us as far as measuring him and talking about options. my husbands foot still had swelling so we did not buy anything that day. when we returned a few weeks later to purchase shoes, we asked for someone to measure him again as the swelling went down and more healing occurred. The salesman was called over to the side by the owner, came back over and refused to help us. He said there was nothing they could do for us. We didnt understand what happened, we had no idea why we were being treated so badly. We left and never went back and i make sure i tell everyone i know Never to go there. They were the worst. I've gone here for years because they carry extra wide width shoes. I definitely don't go for the customer service. I've been treated VERY rudely by one of the sales staff and that same man was on the register on one occasion and kept talking about his shift finally being over and how he couldn't wait to get out of there. It's kind of like going to the Registry of Motor Vehicles. This place is ok. I went in looking for Birkenstock sandals (all hail the 90s!). They had about 3 different styles in about 3 or 4 different colors. Nothing was what I was looking for. The worker was a little elusive, but he was helping a woman who seemed to be a kind of needy shopper, so I didn't mind. Plus, I liked the freedom to walk around. I did get the help I needed in good time, but I wasn't happy with the selection. FYI: I did end up at Nordstrom's(much to my chagrin) in the Providence Place Mall because, though their selection was small, it had a nice soft leather option. I found out afterwards that Journey's (also in the mall) also has a Birkenstock selection. I wished I had gone there because the workers are more down to earth. read more

A whole lot of shoes Yorker Shoes first started in 1949 and I believe there is only this one store. It's not a particular large place so the selection isn't as huge as some of the shocking monstrous shoes stores in other places. What Yorker seems to specialize in is hard to find shoes. Not weird styles or bizarre colors but hard to find sizes. I have big, wide, mutant feet and often have trouble finding shoes wide enough to fit. York has lots of wide and even super wide sizes and I even saw a pair of running shoes that were size 16 EEE. Now that's a big shoe. Again, the selection isn't all that huge and like almost all shoes stores it seems the women's section is a whole lot larger than the men's part. But there are plenty of well known brand and all kinds of running, hiking and dress shoes. Just might not have the particular type or color you want. The prices tend to be a bit high but there is a sales rack that people can pillage through. The guy assisting me was helpful without being pushy. Definitely not a store where I would buy all my shores but a useful place to check out on occasion. read more

Gary patiently took his time with us, answering our questions and offering helpful advice that comes from his many years experience. His advice made a big difference in the type and size of shoes I should be getting, having me try a different length, width, and toe-box style. This is just not the store for me. And it has nothing to do with their annoying commercial jingle. They have the most expensive shoes and the least stylish shoes that I have ever seen. We go there because Mike takes an extra wide and he doesn't have a lot of choices in shoe stores. But I have more choices and this is not one of them. The people are nice but I don't believe I have ever ever bought anything there. Their sale prices are sometimes more than I want to pay at full price for shoes. When we went the other day they had rubber flip-flops that were on sale at half price for $50. I would never pay $50 for rubber flip-flops and I don't know who bought them when they were $100. And the styles are just very old-fashioned looking to me and very dull. They have a great selection of supportive footwear that doesn't look like supportive footwear! Do you know how hard that is to find?! Yes, the prices are steep but it's worth it! If you need help the staff is more than willing to support, however you need to approach them for assistance. It makes me sad to see all of the terrible reviews on customer service. We seem to always have to wait to get help when we go in there. No one ever acknowledges you in the store and this has been going on since before covid. We found out today that we can buy them at Amazon and other stores for the same price. Where you don't have to drive and waste your time being ignore by unfriendly people. I have gone into this store on three DIFFERENT occasions. Each time was the same customer service. The first time, was after a friend recommended this store for a "great selection" of wide width shoes. The sales lady did not even measure my foit, she just asked what size and what shoe I wanted to try on. The shoes she brought were not wide width and she acted like I was bothering her. The second time was to find flats for a wedding. Again, "what size and what shoe do you want to try on?" ( there were 3 people working and only one other customer in the place. ) I tried on sandals with elastic straps. The woman kept saying, "oh yes, those look great" like she was in a hurry to get rid of me. I said, no they don't look good, my feet look like a sausage. These are not wide width she said " oh, those don't come in wide width". (She could have said that to begin with. She then said I could measure my foot if I didn't know my size. I left again!!! The third time, again friends recommended this place. I went in knowing I wanted them to measure my feet. The guy came over, after I was sitting there waiting for about 10 minutes while he just stood at the register talking to another employee. I asked him to please measure my feet. He begrudgingly did so and then every shoe he brought in that size didn't fit (most were too wide in places.) So he said I might just need to accept some shoes might look like that and pick the best looking one. I left and won't ever go back. These times is enough. Went to pay and stood behind a person where they had to do her transaction 3 times before it went through. The teenager drinking her water wanted to know who helped us. Ok, well nobody. I pay. She checks our shoes for size and says we have 2 different sizes. We go back to the rack, now someone helps us and is extremely rude about the sizes. We found they had been switched in the boxes. There were at least 3-4 people working the floor that day and only one other customer in the store besides myself. Apparently that customer and I were not important enough to break up their little gossiping session behind the register. Great shoes... Poor service. It's painful to walk in the store. Really creepy old guys that don't acknowledge anyone else's presence for fear of forgetting their personal conversations. Women typically don't do that. Bravely walk past them, then deflect the attempt to follow you after you've been looking for 10 minutes. Avoid eye contact during the cash register transaction, and breathe again once you safely leave through the front door.
