Terrific teriyaki chicken but terrible Mongolian beef plate lunch. Way too sweet. But not too many options for food in Pacific Beach

The restaurant is very nicely laid out, nice ambiance, large windows to look out through the forest, with most tables along the window being able to see the ocean through the forest. That being said, this is not a large restaurant, so I always recommend making reservations, no matter which tourist season you're there. The staff is very friendly and all the servers are attentive to your needs. While the cost is a bit pricey, it is well worth it. You are not going to find a comparable or better restaurant within 30 miles.

Second night, the menu changed, but no worries--our server worked some magic with the chef and whipped up a dish exactly like what I was craving. It even tasted like something my guy makes at home with our clams... only fancier! The restaurant is gorgeous, perfectly respectful of its stunning setting, and big enough that you can actually talk to your lover without yelling across the table (rare these days!). The server? Perfect. The place? Spotless. And yes--the ladies' room is clean, calmness-approved, and ready for anything.

We came in with friends as a party of eight. The menu states that parties of eight or more receive an automatic 20% gratuity. Fair enough -- I completely expect that with a larger group. What I don't understand is adding another 1.5% "service charge" because of the increased cost of doing business. Just raise your menu prices. I would much rather pay an honest price for my meal than have little fees added to the bill afterward. It feels cheap and completely out of place at a restaurant trying to present itself as upscale. But that isn't what really bothered me. My wife ordered from the kids menu because she simply does not eat a full-sized meal and doesn't like wasting food. The menu we were given did not state that it was restricted to children 12 and under. Instead of simply handling the request politely, our waiter called her out for ordering from the children's menu. I explained that she wasn't trying to save a few dollars -- she just didn't want to waste food. His response was essentially a snarky, "Sorry, not allowed." Seriously, who cares? If the restaurant has a policy, fine. Politely explain it. What isn't fine is making a paying customer feel embarrassed or as though she is trying to pull something over on the restaurant. That was the part that ruined the experience for me. Restaurants sometimes seem to forget that hospitality is actually part of the business. Customers aren't an inconvenience to be managed. We are the reason the doors are open in the first place. We drove all the way out to the Washington coast, were dining as a group of eight, and were perfectly prepared to spend money and leave a 20% gratuity. Instead, my wife was made to feel uncomfortable over something as ridiculous as ordering a smaller portion of food. Koko's can keep the upscale image, the automatic gratuity, the extra service fee, and the attitude. There are far too many restaurants that understand what hospitality means for me to spend my money somewhere that doesn't. I won't be back, and I certainly won't recommend Koko's to friends or family.

We decided during our trip to northern Washington to stay at this military lodging and the reservation process was quick and easy. The staff employee that we spoke with was very friendly, helpful, and professional. Upon arrival this Navy Lodge has plenty of parking for their guests.Once we finally got checked in and in our room, we noticed that the staff was maintaining the facility at a very high standard of cleanliness. You can also drive down to the beach if you prefer not to walk back up to the resort. The use of "resort" is overly used in the area, in my opinion they are not resorts just hotels and motels that are near beach access. The Navy Resort is on the older side however the rooms are spacious and a great place to rest and relax after a day out of the beach or visiting some of the smaller towns. There are also 3-5 beach cottages, campsites and RV parking available. There is something for everyone in how they want to spend their time. Some of the issues we ran into were the lack of available grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants that stay open past early lunch. I suggest stocking up on groceries in Aberdeen prior to arriving because there isn't much available locally. The hotel suites only have microwaves and fridges so you have to plan accordingly. We were on the third floor, (no elevators) this is an older building so the walls are paper thin, we could hear our neighbors all the time they were in there. It didn't bother us too much since we spent a lot of time out on the beach and visiting the far west side of Olympic Park.
