I usually get smogs by work but I have my sister's old car on my driveway and found out that I had forgotten to renew the registration and needed a last minute smog check. Failed my first test because the battery had died and the computer didn't have the necessary data. This cost me around $30 but I was told I could come back for a free reinspection and just pay the $10 or so fee to send the report to the DMV. I also got some directions for the most efficient way to get the data needed. Came back a couple days later and passed the smog check. Both times I was in and out in five/ten minutes. I will be back! read more

Very kind and helpful, my smog had previously failed somewhere else and he pulled up the codes for my vehicle and showed me why it might not have been passing. They don't charge if you fail so we went ahead and tried the smog and I ended up passing. read more

I am so happy I found this place online I buy and sell cars as a hobby and usually Go to different places for smogs But this will now be my go to place. They have the best rate in Los Angeles! That is no joke. The smog took about 5 minutes Most places charge you extra to pay with card, Not here at Youngs. One year ago, I paid him $600 to pass the check. He told me that in a week he would send me a ready-made paper with the passed confirmation. At that moment, I saw empathy and fear in his face. But at this point, he began to say that the other owner no longer works here, when he was the owner of this smog shop. Smog Check usually an easy process. You take your car in, hand over the letter from DMV to the technician, and they run the test and report. And usually smog check experience as easy as that. He kindly greets you, quickly guide you to test area, and explains how much it's going to be and how long it will take. Test was done in about 5 minutes, paid with credit card, and I was already pulling out of the garage. This is probably the best smog test experience anyone can get, even though process is already simple as it can be. Before you head out of the garage, he handed me a cold bottle of water and Korean chocolate pie snack "Choco Pie". He figured out a way to make this already simple process much better than other smog check experiences I've had before. read more

Came across this place the other day, looking for a Smog check location near my house. I was surprised at the sheer number of 5-star reviews that this place had received, and figured I should check them out! I drive a German car with a diesel engine, which sadly did not pass the first time I went, due to some of the emissions control sensors not being in a ready state. John, the owner, was exceptionally patient with me. He explained the steps I needed to take in order to complete a drive cycle, which is a rather complex procedure where you need to drive at a certain speed for half an hour or more, along with some other steps. He did a complimentary re-test this morning, and the vehicle passed. What a pleasant person to do business with! read more

I mentioned the yelp discount but the worker said they don't deal with yelp anymore. It was for the price that the discount was for $50, so went ahead and got it done. No wait and about 5 minutes later they said they were done and would be sending the necessary paperwork to the dmv, and off I went to enjoy the rest of my day! read more

Had to get a smog test for my DMV registration renewal and found Young's with awesome reviews. This place lives up to the rating! I arrived and was greeted by an employee who was friendly and explained that the inspection should take no more than about 5 minutes. Sure enough, I was in and out in no time and the process was incredibly smooth. Totally satisfied with my experience and the cherry on top was a complimentary bottle of water and Choco-pie! Have been coming to Young's Smog check for about four years. The service is quick, prices are reasonable and they provide great service. Upon arriving you are escorted to the sitting area, given cold water bottles, and are asked for your SMOG service request form. The staff then, takes care of everything. Takes about 3-4 minutes. Costs $50 for a STAR Certification facility. 5/5 read more

I'm a late riser and wanted to run some Saturday errands prior to coming here. I called to check prices and verify that they do indeed close at 4pm which was perfect for me. This was my last stop of the day and maybe took about 15 mins max. Wait time, was about 10 minutes and and the actual smog check took about 5 mins. I didn't get the kind person's name that helped me but he was very thorough and straight to the point...which I can really appreciate! I would recommend this place and also encourage those who go to be prepared for a tight parking situation. This place was fantastic! It's walk-in only but the wait was only about 15 minutes and that's while being behind two other cars. It took the guys about 5 minutes to test our car and it was $40 otd. The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. I'll update this review once I get the car in for my first visit. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

Then I spoke with Mike, and he was beyond accommodating. He took me in the same day, handled my oil change efficiently, and made the entire experience stress-free. What really stood out was that Mike didn't just do the oil change and send me on my way. He took the time to walk me through a game plan for my next service and explained what should be addressed moving forward to make sure nothing negatively impacts my engine. That level of care and transparency is rare. On top of that, he filled my tires because they were low--completely on his own, without me even asking. It's the little things like that that show how much he truly cares about his customers. And he even gave me a discount on the price because I was a first time customer. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but Young's Smog is the best in all of Los Angeles. I'm a repeat customer because the experience is positive in everyway! The place is clean, the people are friendly and professional, it has the best price of $40 flat (even when you pay with a credit card), my car passes and the smog takes 10 minutes, and to top it off at the end they give you a bottle of cold water and chocopie cookie! I came in with my 1988 Honda.. It was refused at many other stations because they did not have the machine to test it. Apparently, It is very expensive to keep that machine. However, Young's had the machine, and the owner was super nice about the whole thing. It was also the fastest most painless experience I have ever had with getting a smog check for this car. Honored the yelp discount, super friendly, efficient, and is giving me a free re-test once I get my car fixed because it failed worse than a cat talking an algebra test.
