We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. They are affiliated with LDS and have microfiche machines available to view genealogy materials sent from LDS headquarters. They offer free genealogy programs as well as tons of other programs for kids and adults. Their selection of books is great but the DVD selection is lacking. It's a nice, comfortable place to spend a rainy or wintery afternoon reading, logged on to a computer or doing genealogy research. They do have free wi-fi and there's always a puzzle in progress that you can add a piece to if you so desire. It's one of my favorite spots in Lewiston, I spend a lot of time there.

There is something for everyone, and I could seriously get lost combing the aisles for books all day. They have a media section as well, one that my friend sings praises over as she binges on new music and movies. And sometimes, when you're lucky, the first floor is flooded with old books looking to be rehomed. Don't wait for the sale, come explore, and keep coming.

They offer tons of programs for older people who want to figure out their computers, to babysitting courses for teens and resume writing help for anyone! There are great study areas on the top and middle floors and every once and a while they have old books for sale for about a quarter each! I have been coming here to study since I was a kid and it is my favourite library in this town. The old librarians are always helpful if you need it. The young people who put away the books sometimes will start to gossip when you are trying to study but if you tell them off they are horrified. Some odd rules exist like they don't want you to put your feet up on the ancient tables and you can't have a computer in the silent study room... Making it useless but other than that it's a good library.

Whitby Public Library has all the bell and the whistles and anything that I want in my dream library... I think I can even organize my "dream" wedding here! The only problem is the limited number of parking spots. Only around 15 or so for a large library this size (it has more computer terminals than parking lots!!) Of course there are some reasonable municipal parking lots right next to the library at 50 cents a hour and free on evenings, weekends and holidays.

So I opened up yelp and came across this one not to far from school. The building looks very pretty. And the inside is nice and quiet. Very organized and clean. There are two levels one has a few computers in the far corners and the second level has some tables and couches to do some work. Asides from having books on both floors. It also has a cafe in the building, which was neat. I haven't seen a library with a cafe before. I had chosen the couch spot to do some work and sit by the fireplace since it was cold outside. It was quiet and I was able to finish a lot of work while I was there. I would definitely recommend this library to groups as well, since they have rooms you can book to do group assignments. The only thing I would say sucks is the parking, I wasn't able to find parking near the library so I had to park at a P lot, which wasn't too expensive. $1 for 1 hour.
