Solo/Couples: They have couple rooms available. Appointments/Walk-ins: I called to set an appointment, however they also offer walk-in's. Location: Right next to Nordstrom Rack in the Westfarms mall, ground level Price: See attached pictures Setting/Service: There were 2 masseuses who moved from one curtained room to another. Super friendly and welcoming. The actual massage seemed like a sporadic muscle attack rather than some focus on specific knots. Not my cup of tea, but the other customer next door to me seemed to enjoy their massage, citing that their back problems felt a lot better.

Most of them had been back rubs but this one really left me feeling slightly sore but completely relaxed. I had had one like this at Serenity when the manager gave me one but the second time was pleasant but not nearly strong enough. This location at, "The Mall", left a little less privacy than may be desired however, if you are not embarrassed about exhibiting your nakedness, there is no problem. The use of multiple screens affords you some privacy. Lucy was very strong and accommodating but I do wish she would have taken more liberties in touching my body. Maybe after returning several times, as is my plan, she might just feel more comfortable touching me without the need for covering my body with a sheet. I have already purchased several more massages through Groupon, which turns out to be a big savings over the price charged at the door.

So instead of a free lunch, I was to pay for her mani and pedi, while receiving one of my own. I was assured this would be a pleasant experience and was convinced that both men and women come to nail salons to get pampered. There is a first time for everything, so why not? A couple of guys in the place who were getting pedis tried to give me a high five and while I cracked a smile and a nod, it was probably obvious this was going a impressionable first time. When they sat me down to soak my fingers in water, I overheard the Vietnamese girl doing my nails that this was going to be fun. My friend smiled and daydreamed away as her girl was primping her fingers into a flawless finish and an immaculate shine. Somehow during the pedicure, I managed to relax and enjoy a small foot massage while soaking my tired feet in water. I thought to myself, "Maybe this isn't so bad after all" and "Why didn't I do this more often? There are dudes in here enjoying the same thing." My fingernails actually looked nice and the glossy nail polish gave me pianist hands again (something I didn't have since I was young). Then my girl took out her tools and I began to get nervous. She conversed in Vietnamese with another woman, who was working on my friend's feet. My friend was nearly asleep from the vibrating chair and her girl was using some tool to peel her heel like she was peeling a potato. As sheets of skin fell from the bottom of her foot, I was more in shock than I was disgusted. Eventually they started grating her foot and producing flakes / grains of skin, almost like a server at the Olive Garden grating cheese just without the pasta. My girl eventually told me I was lucky to have taken care of my foot so much but I really think she was just being lazy. As she cut my toenails, I noticed this murky red ink like substance in the water, and I soon realized ... it was my blood. She nicked the top part of my big toe and while I didn't feel any pain, she clenched on my big toe and blood seeped through her gloves like it was an operating room. She gripped on it with some gause and said "Sorry!" in a heavy accent and a facial expression full of anguish and regret. This is not good. Event though the bleeding stopped, the damage was already done. My grumpiness hit all time high and I wanted nothing more than to pay and get out. As part of the my losing deal, I was to pay for my friend's mani/pedi as well and when my card was rung up for $84 (not including tip) I just shook my head and said, "What a win for you." She smiled back and said, "Yes. You ready to buy lunch?" FML.

The woman working on me found places I was holding tension and knots in my body that I had no idea existed. By the end of the session, I felt completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I was also provided with stretching techniques, which I really appreciated. I've gone to a bunch of places before and no one has ever offered stretching techniques. We will definitely be back! Alas, no place is perfect, so here are a few of the downsides: There is some background noise from surrounding businesses that can be heard above the music, there is only one chair in the waiting area which was a little awkward, and most importantly, couple's massages here cost less than at the Art of Touch, which is also located in Newington (see my review for there as well).

Today was a miss from her on shape and design. The real issue is the man that works the front. I made an appointment yet still feel like the entire thing was completely rushed. There were some faults on communication with the nail tech like me showing a picture of exactly what I wanted (a French with a few 3D acrylic flowers) her saying "that's cute!" and carrying on and then when it came time for design she started the flowers in polish instead of shaping with acrylic. She then said that she doesn't do that and I responded with "okay I just wish you told me from the beginning" and left it at that. She then did a French on all of the nails. I could look past the shape of the nail being off despite me showing her a clear picture of what she did on me before but the French being completely uneven was too much. As soon as she finished she got up and walked away and said I was all done. I felt so rushed to get up and pay. Had I not felt that way I would've stayed and absolutely noticed that I was not happy with the job done. I always want to give the artist a chance to fix something if I don't like it. When I got home I really noticed. I called the shop hoping for something to remedy the situation. When I said that I had just left and I now noticed the nails and that I wasn't happy his response verbatim was "okay, so what do you want me to do about it". I said what I would like is for you to maybe offer a time to come back and get this fixed. He said "why wouldn't you say something when you were here? You should've done that" I said "you're absolutely right I should have and had I not been completely rushed out of there I would have noticed and said something" then came the excuses of "well it's a French. This is hand drawn it's not like it's a sticker." I'd heard enough at that point and just said forget it I just won't return. He then replied with "okay bye!" Save your money, go elsewhere. While i know I'm not their end all be all to keep their business going and me not returning will not break them, It would've been nice to not have been talked to that way. Completely unprofessional and rude.
