On top of that, I somehow developed pink eye and had to return the same night because my condition became worse after my initial visit. I understand that urgent care facilities can have long wait times, but when people are in real pain, sitting in the lobby for hours is very difficult. What's more concerning is that the doctors sometimes seem uninterested in gathering detailed information about what's going on. It gives the impression that they are rushing through visits instead of thoroughly addressing patients' concerns. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but after multiple visits without real resolution, the experience has been disappointing.

I won't even attempt to describe that various indignities and issues. It would take too long. For now - severe back pain, ongoing, unrelenting. I had to beg to be seen for an appointment two weeks out just to be diagnosed. Then, begging for a spinal injection which was another 10 days out. I get to the appointment, and they tell me my blood pressure is too high. They tell me the ibuprofen KP prescribed is making it high and they refuse to do the procedure. I am given an appointment two weeks out to get my blood pressure checked, and if it ok, I will be put in line to get the spinal injection. I am told they can schedule it quickly, even though the last time allotted was two months out, until the begging. I use their Medicare Advantage program. The enticement to use this was low cost. I will never fall for this again. Kaiser is indifferent to pain, and an adherent to their "protocol". Wherever these protocols are located is a mystery, but they are pulled out to justify their indifference. Need to see a doctor soon? Back of the hand for you. To be fair, I have finally, after much trouble and long waits, gotten to see some seemingly good doctors - not all - just a few. Getting to them is pot luck, and takes jumping through many hoops of KP's own making. It's a medical mill. You are on an assembly line, and if you don't fit in one of their oddly shaped procedural slots, then get ready, because that's all you are going to get. As to what's next, I'll tell you. Unrelenting pain. That's it. I actually don't know where to turn now. This is a form of medical care that I have never encountered. If you are thinking about KP for Medicare or Medicare Advantage - don't do it. Just don't do it.

Okay, I'm a little late posting this review, as our visit to Southern Regional Medical Center was…read moreon May 1st, but I still felt it was important to share our experience. My father had taken a fall and his knee had swollen to nearly three times its normal size, so he asked me to take him to the ER. We are fairly new to the area so we went with the closest hospital. We arrived around 9 PM. To be fair, the initial intake process -- vitals, insurance, and registration -- was handled within a reasonable amount of time. However, after that, the wait became absolutely unbelievable. My father was not taken to have x-rays until nearly midnight. Honestly, I'm not even sure he would have been called back when he was had he not gone to the desk himself to ask what was taking so long. By that point, both my 12-year-old son and I had actually fallen asleep in the waiting room. Once he finally got called to the back about 4 AM we learned there was only ONE ER doctor on duty that night. EMS arrivals understandably took priority, but that meant anyone who walked in by car just kept getting pushed further and further aside. I completely understand emergency prioritization, but it is difficult to understand how an ER can function properly with only one physician covering the entire department. At one point, I was ready to leave and take him somewhere else, but after already waiting so many hours, we felt stuck. Eventually, the doctor read his x-rays and bloodwork results and discovered that while he had no broken bones or sprains, his potassium levels were dangerously high, his kidney numbers were low, and his blood pressure was also very low. Thankfully, those labs likely uncovered a much more serious issue than the original injury itself, and for that I am grateful. He was ultimately admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, the delays continued after admission. A doctor briefly stopped by Saturday morning, but he was not properly seen again until Sunday. That level of delay for admitted patients is concerning and, honestly, unacceptable. Now, with all of that said, I absolutely want to acknowledge the staff members we encountered because THEY are the reason this review went from a 1-star to a 3-star experience! Big shoutout to Crystal at the front desk/check-in area. She was patient, kind, and professional throughout the chaos. We also encountered Dakota, Nurse Donna, Peter, Sonia, and Nurse Lea, and every single one of them showed empathy, patience, understanding, and excellent bedside manner despite clearly being overworked and understaffed. They did the best they could with the resources they had, and it showed. This review is truly directed toward hospital leadership and administration. The staffing shortages are hurting both the employees and the patients. A hospital cannot properly serve its community if it does not have adequate staffing in its emergency department and patient care areas. The staff turned what was an absolute nightmare experience into a more tolerable experience through sheer professionalism and compassion alone. But unfortunately, based on this experience, I will NOT return to this location unless absolutely necessary!

The entire experience felt less like patient care and more like an assembly line: move here, wait here, get this, then wait again for that. What stood out most was not just the delay, but the lack of organization and empathy. There was little sense of urgency, very little communication, and even less concern for the pain and frustration patients were clearly experiencing. The shift change from night staff to day staff only made an already chaotic situation worse. It was disorganized, inefficient, and incredibly discouraging when you are already not feeling well. This was pointed out by one of the day nurses. The other nurses at the front desk of the ER simply responded with a very dismissive K when I stated my concerns in tears and had to leave to go somewhere else because of the pain. The most telling part of the experience was hearing multiple people in the waiting room say they wished they had gone to Emory instead. Unfortunately, after spending over six hours there myself, I understood exactly why.

Right away the people at the front desk seemed like they had no idea how to check me in. The employees were having to talk back and forth to make sure they were doing it correctly. The ladies at the front desk were extremely kind though. Next the nurse didn't even close the door during the intake process. Anybody out in the hallway could hear me sharing my medical information. The employee charting had no idea what to do and the other employee seems a bit confused too. I had to spell out every medication I take and they had no clue what they were (basic prescriptions you've likely heard of yourself). Most of their patient room items were ripped, old, or barely working. Did not feel clean and sterile in there. The doctor had no clue what she was doing and was in and out consulting with people in the hallway. She honed in on the first symptom I mentioned and ignored the rest. I repeatedly had to restate my symptoms and when they started. It's like she didn't listen at all. She then tried to prescribe me a medication that is known to have a severe interaction with medication I already take. She tried to give me a multitude of tests that would take many days to come back. I refused and left. She wasn't happy with me but I didn't feel like she was listening to my issues. The way she was talking to me felt very condescending. FYI: they do not share test results or discuss your symptoms over the phone. There are signs all over that you need to come back in person to get results. Seems like a scam to make you pay for 2 appointments. This was the only place I could find without a 3+ hour wait. Guess I should've realized that was a bad sign.

I said OK I will pay it to find out if I was OK. Made appoint after I pre-paid. I get there on time and sat down as no one was at the front desk, when someone came I was informed I was at the wrong address, but address on my paperwork had that address. The first lady was in the back and seemed to act like I was inconveniencing her by asking questions. She rudely said to wait, then when she called my name asked me why I was there I told her then she says, you are at the wrong place. When I asked where do I go she said I don't know maybe next door, go down there. I asked if she could call someone, she says I don't know the number. I was having difficulty breathing after I walked down there and I found out it was at Emory hospital so I go in and I say to myself this isn't right, the lady at the register says while reading my paperwork you have to go back to them you are at the wrong place. So I went back to them and a different lady was at the counter and I asked do you know where I go? Showed her my paperwork and told her I was sent next door and that was Emory. She knew who to call and gave me the number and address and told me I had to go to Riverdale about 15-20 minutes away and I thanked her and went over there. I was late and sitting there an hour no one called me back to register or anything and when I got there I explained what happened, but they could care less. it was not my fault I was not given the correct address and seems like they would have gotten me in for their mistake, but I was treated very badly and I just got up and left it was almost 10AM, my appt was for 8AM by the way. No apology or anything. I would never go back to them. A disgrace how some facilities treat people. One last thing, I even called the appointment desk while in waiting room at Riverdale hospital to explain to them what happened and to see if they could either squeeze me in then or tell me to come back tomorrow at another time, since as I said it was their fault, but no. She said i might have something in a week or two. I said that's OK and got up and left. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Well the opposite happened to me. After visiting Southern Crescent Medical Center in Stockbridge, I got a bad blood draw and my left arm has been week and sore for 6 month now. Shantel Bryant not only tried to turn a blind eye to the fact that her medical assistant did a bad blood draw on me, even after the girl admitted it, but she also got hostile and hung up the phone on me for asking her to pay the $77 imaging fee to have my arm looked at for blood clot etc. She had the audacity to state "blood draws don't cause blood clots, especially when done with a butterfly needle." This statement shows Shantel's lack of medical knowledge. Not only is she not a nurse, there is no doctor at this facility. Which concerns me. How can you call yourself a "doctor's office" with no doctor practicing in the building. If you end up at this facility ask to speak to the doctor before being seen. I will never use them again! You shouldn't either!
