Typical cozy Thai restaurant interior. Cut off for dine in is about 30 minutes before closing. Staff is kind and service is quick. The cost per dish is higher than expected for the portion of food, rice is not included with any meal it is a side order.. ($2 small $3 large) Mixed vegetables with tofu in ginger sauce ($18) was cooked perfectly, the sauce was yummy but very light and watery, almost too light but could be complimented with a spicy chili oil or paste to heighten the flavor. (I have ordered this dish twice, the review is consistent for both orders) Garlic pepper chicken ($18) dish was cooked well, ordered extra hot but was very much on the mild side. Expect to pay for rice to go with your meal unless you are getting a lunch special. I would have liked to try more dishes but again the prices were too high to justify trying more items. I used to have linch here quite a lot but had not been in for about a year. Came for dinner and I have never had such tasteless thai food. The green curry was like light green and watery and did not taste like coconut or curry flavor. Like they watered it down and had no creamy consistency and no seasoning. I told the waiter I have never seen a curry look that way or lack taste and he said, "no that is how we serve it."The stir fried garlic green beans had come from a frozen packet of green beans and also were flavorless. We were in the area visiting friends and ended up at " Your Place Thai Restaurant ". The décoré and ambiance was beautiful with many cues to Thailand and the Thai culture. Still the star of this restaurant is the food...as good as any Thai food I've ever had. Also, the service was fast...the only comment I have about that is everything including our appetizers came at nearly the same time...in short order our table was filled with food! Just something to be aware of if you're accustomed to having appetizers and then waiting a few mins for the entrees...like me. I've visited "Your Place..." but that was many many years ago. Decent food. We got their 1. Egg roll - not great. The dip they provided with it was too sweet. 2. Golden fried tofu - the tofu itself was alright but it came with a peanut dip which wasn't great 3. Spicy drunken noodles - good flavors. We asked for it to be spicy though, which it wasn't. 4. Panang curry - probably the best of the lot. Again, not spicy but very flavorful. 5. Used to enjoy the food here but tonight's order was quite disappointing. We ordered takeout- papaya salad, chicken satay, drunken noodles and pineapple curry with shrimp. The satay was good, papaya salad was bland and the drunken noodles lacked any depth of flavor. The shrimp in the pineapple curry just didn't taste right, like they were a little past their freshness date and had a very spongy consistency. We ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and spicy eggplant with tofu. First thing is the interior of the restaurant is not nice looking and a bit out dated. The drunken noodles for ~$20 was just a pile of noodles with barely any chicken and no veggies. They must make a great profit serving plain/bland rice noodles with almost no protein. The eggplant tofu dish was drenched in grease in a pool of oil. This is an expensive place that serves bunch of carbs and oily stuff while skimping on the protein. read more

I love this place! I lived a few blocks down from this quaint little Thai restaurant and it was such a privilege. Ambiance - Seating arrangement is cool. They have these nice booth seats that create a cozy feeling. Dimmer lighting for sure but I don't mind it. Feels like those restaurants you see in movies where it doesn't look like a Michelin star restaurant but has the coziest feel and you meet up with your friends there to just chat. I've been coming here for years and now the curries are so watery -- curry should be thick and creamy. The service is wonderful, so please fix the curries to the old thicker style you used to do. Starving for a quick dinner, this brisk and bustling Thai place hit the spot. Beer and wine license only, so neither of us ordered a beverage besides water. I think we got the last table available at 7 on a Sunday! It seemed there were a lot of locals, some groups of guys even, sharing big pots of soup. Staff is not friendly but they are efficient, and understand minor special orders like hold the zucchini. I ended up ordering the Thai Basil eggplant with chicken. Even though my husband would not eat any eggplant, there were a few small peppers and onions to go with it so he tasted the dish and ate some chicken. I was completely thrilled with the small eggplants (only quartered) and cooked until tender but mostly not mushy! There were so many, and they were still great leftover. The chicken was plentiful, tender and there was enough sauce (important for consumption of jasmine rice). I particularly liked their sauce as it was not too sweet, and this is a dish I order frequently home in Phx. I asked them to prepare this dish as a mild to medium, or mild plus and they got it just right! I thought the white rice was a little wet, but ok. we got the brown rice as well, it was nice alone but I prefer Jasmine rice in this cuisine, the brown somehow overshadowed the curry. We also ordered a pad see ew, a pan fried broccoli dish of rice noodle with beef. Strong competitor in the noodle department, flat noodles not broken up and tender beef strips. A few carrots and onions. Mild, no sauce really, so not soggy. Great leftover, too. I am sorry we got away without taking any pictures of these dishes, we must have been starving. They were standard presentations with no garnish. Rice served in miserly small bowls for $2 each. All in $42 before tip for two entrees and two sides of rice. Brusque but speedy staff brought the bill and handled the transaction quickly and off we went with our sturdy traditional white folded cardboard containers. Our go-to restaurant when we stop by the Santa Barbara area. No wait when we came noon on Sunday. Staff here are friendly and patient. They are understanding of dietary restrictions. Food came really quick within 5-10 minutes. Every dish is packed with flavor. One of my favorite dishes has to be the garlic fish which has a lot of fried garlic on top of crispy battered fish fillet. Eating it with the lettuce leaves makes it some healthy, I say to myself. I like Your Place. Thai dishes cooked in a traditional/standard way...big portion sizes...heavy handed with sauces, packing lots of flavor. WIN. What you order is what you can expect. The only thing that confused me? When I came by myself and ordered tea, they charged me once for a whole small pot of tea by myself. Good, right? But when I came with friends, they charged us all ***separately*** for sharing that SAME one single pot of tea. Shouldn't we all have our own separate pots instead of charging us 3 times for a single pot? Next time I'll gently talk it over with the manager. I would say that we asked for food spicy and it didn't really come spicy enough, but that comes with knowing the restaurant we got a Thai tea, which was also delicious we love the noodles and the pineapple of fried rice was Really good and a little different than what we normally get perhaps not as sweet but great seasoning. we got our food to go so I can't speak to the ambience, but it was ready very quickly on New Year's Eve, which was surprising and great. read more

Thai food is my favorite. It's just got such a wide variety of dishes and each one brings its own exciting palette of flavors. We started off with the chicken satay, deliciously grilled skewers of chicken with a peanut butter dip and pickled cucumber as an accompany. Absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender and not dry at all, and just so good. For the main meal, we split the pad see ew (a classic, tasty), some veggies (decent, although I wish they were cooked a bit longer), and yellow chicken curry, spooned over some white rice. The yellow chicken curry was spicier than I expected (we asked for it mild), but packed with flavor and just as homey and comforting as any yellow chicken curry I've ever had. I asked for a pad see yew with shrimp and chicken and they gave me the plate at first and I couldn't find any shrimp. They took the plate away and then came back stirring it up to show me the two pieces. I also had ordered for the dish extra spicy but it came with no flavor or spice- was super bland, and I asked for spice on the side to add which is pictured here. Amazing mom-and-pop Thai restaurant with great service. The first thing I noticed walking in is the flyers from a local newspaper naming this the Best Thai Restaurant in Santa Barbara for many (many!) years. The earliest one I saw was for 1985! We were quickly seated for a late lunch by our friendly host. There were three of us and we ordered two soups and two dishes to share between us. Everything was incredible, and I mean everything. My husband is a real Kang Panang lover, which means we order it everywhere we go. I don't know what it was about the panang here, but it had a special yum I was that really set it apart from others I've had.
